Like about 50,000 other people, I planned to be at Yankee Stadium for this week's home opener. The virus had other plans. So I'll keep hunkering down, gloving up and doing my part to squash this bug. You know what I thought was odd, the realization that they don't call the pitcher or catcher.
They've never done that - interrupt their concentration, someone gets hurt. As it is, you'll notice the field players are very careful about the timing of their acknowledgements. No one wants to be on ESPN because they got clobbered in the face by a ball while saluting the creatures.
They don't want to break the concentration between the pitcher and catcher, that's why they don't get called during roll call.
This is pretty cool
