Why 66 Trips Left?
We're Kev and Jane and we've got just 66 trips left in our lifetime. Or have we?
At what age did your parents no longer go abroad, or go away often?
For us it was an average of 76 years old. Our average was 54 when we started documenting our travels properly (April 2022) so potentially we've got 22 years of decent travelling years left, and doing 3 trips per year (as we were) means we've got only got 66 trips left.
We see this as a target to be passed, as soon as possible, so we'll aim to break the 66 by a long way.
The bigger trips will count towards the total, but we'll document the smaller trips away too.
(The fact that this account name is very similar to our camper van's registration is merely coincidental, honest. *ahem* )

Seven days on Koh Tao at the Dusit Buncha Resort by Riya (Trip 49.3)
Переглядів 1692 місяці тому
We spent our first week in Koh Tao, with Kev learning to scuba dive (again), celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in the country we got married in, doing a fair bit of snorkelling, chilling and drinking cocktails. The hotel turned out to be a really good option for us for the week, we loved it there. Music by Infraction
Taking the PADI Open Water Diver course with Black Turtle Dive at Koh Tao, inc Sail Rock (Trip 49.2)

I last dived 29 years ago, after qualifying as a Novice Diver with BSAC the year before. I never really got the chance to dive again but now in Koh Tao it was time, and hopefully there's more future dives to come with our travels to South East Asia set to continue. I chose Black Turtle Dive after reading lots of reviews, I'm so pleased I did, they make you feel safe throughout, a very well orga...

A nice week away, visiting Ironbridge, Ludlow and ending up at the Van Life Festival 2024, our 2nd and biggest multi day van festival. Not too much footage as I fell ill as soon as I got to VanLife, but I still had a great time.

Campervan Trip to Lincoln, Castle, Cathedral | The Lawn Lincoln | Skeg Vegas (Trip 53)
Переглядів 1076 місяців тому
A short trip to Lincoln, with its historic castle and cathedral. We did a brief visit to Skegness (Skeg Vegas) on the way - it was quite the detour - but wanted to see it as we were in the area. Overnights at The Lawn car park (48 hours = £19.60) which is within easy reach of all of central Lincoln, with its ancient attractions, good shopping streets and great food in pubs and around the marina...

My first cruise, on P&O's Azura, cruising around the Canary Islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, plus a trip to Madeira. It was a great trip, something we'll certainly do again, but no we won't be just doing cruises going forward.

All stopped now mate
@@richardgrimbleby7853 such a shame, I'm sure the vast majority of those who stopped there out an awful lot into the local economy
Thank you for the video!! How much time did the whole journey (bus + boat) take?
@@василисалопатина-ш4о Thanks for watching. From memory (it was a while ago) we left just after 8am and reached Kuala Tahan between 4 and 5pm. But this wasn't all travelling, there was a stop mid morning and then quite a long time at the boat jetty station where you can eat a meal.
@66TripsLeft thank you! ☺
Never dived ever, will have to !
Thanks for watching Rob. Diving is a lovely thing (ear problems for me aside). There's no feeling quite like it, the weightlessness, the tranquility.
@@66TripsLeft think I'll save up for somewhere nice tho, seen so many people go somewhere and they can't see anything 😭
@@RoaminRob Sail Rock was pretty good although when I dived previously near Phuket I felt visibility was far better. But the currents were unusually strong I believe, so visibility must have been reduced because of this.
It was very wet
was at cayton bay last jan for a week no prob's then
Great news, although I hear they'll be shutdown soon. Sad times.
Hello , I am planning for this stay in August, could you pls help me with the link for the booking or the details of the host. The place is a gem and has my heart.
@@MedhaShekar Hi, I'm starting to wonder if they're no longer open as I can't find them on AirBnB any longer. I also messaged the owner and got no reply. I hope they are still going, it was my trip highlight such a wonderful experience.
@@66TripsLeft Ouch!! Thats sad, Would have loved to experience it.
thanks for sharing
how much was the tattoo?
I think it was around 12m
We have visited Lincoln a number of time and went inside the castle, but not the prison, did you see Lucy the Dragon.
They have two dragons, not sure they're real though, or which one is Lucy 🤣
@@66TripsLeft there was only one when we visited last, she is a large black one which breaths smoke.
Stayed in a homestay too here 🎉 Saw plankton on a night canoe ride ❤
Blooming ace experience isn't it. Did you stay on the same one?
@@66TripsLeft no mine wasn't registered, I found an old fishing guy in the port and agreed for a sail around, then he showed me his brother's floating home, next thing I was invited to spend a night drinking playing cards ❤️
@@RoaminRob amazing
We've happily hit the Subscribe button Kev & Jane, and will be checking out the other videos and vlogs you have here, and in the future 👍
So happy to see a cruise feature on your brilliant channel. A really nicely filmed and edited vlog of your time onboard, and the destinations ashore.
Thanks so much!
What a truly incredible and unique place you've discovered and shown us here. Would very much enjoy that experience.
Your vlogs and videos are certainly an inspiration and motivation for us to plan travel to these types of destinations ourselves.
Thanks for the kind words
Nicely done, Kev. Madeira looks amazing. Still on my bucket list!
Thanks John. We didn't get very long there but we will go back one day.
That chicken with cashew nuts looks delicious. ❤
It was. Look back to last year and there's a bit of footage of the food at Selera Lubuk Buaya, August 2022
Great video guys! I did the loop in early January but in reverse direction -was also rainy 😅
Thanks. We did the loop twice, got absolutely soaked on one of the days but got offered a shelter from a local, whom we chatted with via Google Translate for 30 minutes; it was a lovely experience
Cayton Bay is no overnight parking. You will get fines.
When did that happen?
Beginning of last year I think.@@66TripsLeft
not if you have a german registerd van like me
I’ve always wanted to go here.
Feel free to ask me any questions. It's simple to organise and cheap when there, it's just the flight which is the issue.
Omg first seconds wind noise 😭
Yes, annoying isn't it, unfortunately I don't have the decent equipment many do.
Looks nice good 😊
Haha, yes it's a great place but maybe my worse quality video, it was 14 years ago though. Check out my recent Vietnam series, or some of the van trips.
@@66TripsLeft will do van trips for sure 👌
Tq for sharing. What month were you at Hoi An?
Thanks for watching. We were there in August, it was quite good weather but so hot, slightly cooler than My Son though.
Do you want video SEO for organic growth
Amazing !
Thanks
Good work 😄🙌🏻👐🏼
thanks
Looks great!
Hi!!! This looks fabulous. I had previously been sent a link to inner x by a friend but it seems to have disappeared from Airbnb. Do you have any idea what happened? Or do you have a phone number or email I could reach out to? I’m really hoping to stay there in January :))
Hi, yes kind of, I've got another video lined up for the inner x , it's a full tour, and I messaged the owner to ask about the listing. At the moment the listing is down, but he hopes all will be back soon. If I find anything further out I'll post a comment here...plus I'll be able to do the other tour video.
@@66TripsLeft thank you!! Do you have any idea why the listing is down? Like is it just a tech glitch or is he not accepting guests?
@@juliaclark4191 I think it's two fold: in March the Inner-X moved from Lan Ha bay to Bai Tu Long, but it's impossible to update the location of an Airbnb listing. Charles the owner has been trying to sort this. Also he's got to sort out the property for fire regulation changes, which I guess it tricky considering what it is and where it is. So in essence they can't have anyone booking at the moment, I hope they can resolve that.
@@66TripsLeft got it. Do you have contact info for them where I could ask how the fire proofing is going? I’d be interested in helping out if they are accepting volunteers also but don’t have any lines of communication.
Great video. Homestay looks very nice. Was there a lot of mosquitoes at the Homestay? Thanks
Thanks Janice. We barely saw any mosquitoes anywhere in Vietnam, and certainly never got bitten much - and normally I'm a mosquito's favourite food.
The tattoo turned out great...how fun were those white highlights though? lol I look forward to the now inevitable full sleeve video in the future.
Thanks, I love it, and it may be joined by others before too long. White highlights? Not sure I had any of those, or do you mean my hair cos I'm an old git? :-)
@@66TripsLeft Once you pop, you can't stop lol. And noo, you have great hair, don't worry lmao. In my experience, usually when doing realism, they put in white ink after all the black and grey. So you think your tattoo is done, but surprise there's more, and it's going in already sore spots lol.
@@TheotherPoolboy you might be right then, for the final bit I had to lay face down so couldn't see, and it's the only time it felt sore.
Which drone do you use? Thinking about staying at lotus field homestay as well! heard its hard to get into though?
It's a DJI Mini 2 SE, cheapest of the Mini range, works well as long as I didn't hit anything (which happens). Lotus Field isn't hard to get to or around, taxi from the station drops you direct, then either use bicycles or like us hire a scooter direct from the hotel. The staff there are great, the food and ambiance good, just wish we had longer there.
@@66TripsLeft Thanks so much for your help! I'm thinking of 4 nights at Lotus. Did you feel Lotus Homestay was relatively central to all the scenic tourist areas via scooter? I worry that it is too rural. But ~15 min each way scooter ride to places is not bad at all
@@subarianEra Yes, via scooter it's no problem at all, in fact Ninh Binh's side roads are so quiet it's an absolute joy. 4 days is great too as we didn't have time to get to Hoa Lu, which we didn't know was there until we arrived and our forward itinerary was already booked. Where else are you going? Phong Nha? Halong?
@@66TripsLeft I decided to opt out of ha long bay for ninh binh. Being stuck on a cruise doesn't excite me. I rather bike alongside the mountains like you mentioned on a quiet road. Just sapa, hanoi, ho chi minh, and hoi an.
@@subarianEra We didn't like the idea of a cruise either: currently editing my next video of our floating homestay (the Inner-X) in Bai Tu Long Bay (next to Halong), which was the best experience of our trip. In case you haven't, read up plenty of Sapa's current state.
I came to know.. this restaurant had Gas cylinder blast & closed now. The same team has started a new restaurant in main Temple Street
Thanks for letting me know. I had heard the government destroyed it when they destroyed half the buildings in front of the temple.
Looks amazing & well ridden 👍
It was an epic day out. Just doing the video for the Phong Nha Loop which was another great ride, potentially even better, be live Saturday hopefully.
Did you reserve all the trip(3days) with hantravel or only the transfert ?
We just did the transfer with them - there's another video of mine all about how to do that. We booked the hotel separately, as I wanted a bite of the river.
@@66TripsLeft thank you
I can say it does look very beautiful there, nice video. I'll watch the rest in the set a bit later. 👍
Thanks. I'm trying to release one a week but I'm not as quick at my video editing as you are :-)
Thanks for bringing us along
This one's a small update, next week's is a cracker, I've watched it half a dozen times already
Try to pronounce the name of that pagoda correctly .
I'm well aware that I can't pronounce any Vietnamese words properly, I'm sorry about that, but I heard several people say it that way.
Super helpful. Please share the name and price per night of the hotel you stayed in Kuala Tehan, Taman Negara. Thanks in advance

Nice place
Amazing 😮 Another brilliant video. Was a long walk from your hotel to the entrance of the park?
No, it was a little stroll down a hill and then you catch the very cheap boat over. The next couple of videos show more of that walk from the lovely place we stayed at.
You cannot begin to imagine how helpful this was. I am going to Malaysia and Taman Negara is on my list.
Excellent news. I struggled to find factual information about this trip so wanted to make sure I got something out there. Are you planning your trip right now?
@@66TripsLeft I forgot to reply to this and say thank you. I visited Kuala Lumpur last August. I stayed in the same Travelogde and used Han travel. 😅I took the boat ride up the river. It was stunning. Your videos was extremely clear and I will be sharing it with friends and family.
@@aspiring... That's great news
Great video pal👌
Do you have to get a permit to fly drone in Taman Negara N.Park? I heard it's not free zone to fly. Please advice. Thanks 😊
I looked for information online about flying drones and I found nothing to say you could not. I looked at all the signs in the own and nothing there either. We're did you see your information?
I've just found the article, but that wasn't online when I was booking my trip and researching it all. There definitely was no obvious signs in the park. I wonder also if it applies to drones under 249g, as mine was.
We were there and didn't see any sign either and even our tour guide didn't say anything 😅. But I was worried when I saw the article and law in Malaysia, saying that you'll have to pay for fine if you get caught 😥🤣
Nice place stayed here before
Nice video Did you go this January? Was it open?
Thanks for the comment. We actually went in August last year but it's taken me a while to edit the videos together, and I've still got more to do.
Malaysia looks fabulous & we've added it to our list. I'll be tapping you up for your itinerary 👍 The drone crash was a hard watch, this is what puts me off getting one to some degree. I got a little DJI Tello mini drone for Christmas, just to see if I would make decent use of it & addicted already 🤦♂️
Enjoyed, interesting footage!66TripsLeft- :))
WOW so beautiful.
