    I like the older double handled one. I collect antique tea cups, mustache cups/mugs, Souvenir cup/mugs and Shaving Mugs. The Mustache mug was designed like that as the Men used wax in their Mustache and the steam from the tea or the liquid would melt the wax, thus not only getting into the tea but ruining the look of the Mustache.

    Mrs. B. - we just "met" last night. Here's my delimma: I work as a cook and baker for the same 20 adult women in the morning and same 15 adult men in the evening. Every day. (Their "occupation" would surprise you by this:) but, after dinner, i usually never hear anyone say "thank you" - or - the 'chicken' was good. My family and friends tell me I am a good cook. I am hard-pressed to hear a thank you or a compliment from them. From the coffee to the last crumb of apple pie, no thank you. Your input is appreciated. Thank you!

    • @TeawithMrsB

      Bless your heart! Bless your hands and all of the creativity it takes to do what you do! I am very glad to make your acquaintance. Maybe we need to book a private tea session for your cherished diners. A quick fix for now, embellish how you present the food. Spark their creativity with some of your own: -> I poured my heart into the meal today... -> There is a special secret ingredient in today's dish, please let me know if you can guess what it is... -> I am so grateful to be able to serve you and hope you are pleased with today's meal)... With children I often hold the item until they say, "thank you". Sometimes I will even proceed them by saying, "it was my pleasure to do this, this and this for you." More often than not, that will illicit a lovely, "thank you!"

      @@TeawithMrsB I do appreciate your reply, Mrs, B, however, after 3 years at the one massively ungrateful place, I wouldn't waste another minute on their unappreciative useless attitudes "begging" for them to tell me what they like or telling them how I've labored over their dinner and dessert. These men see me as their servant and nothing else! When I come in to cook their dinner, I am greeted with a sinkful of dirty dishes and over-flowing garbage cans - from whence I was there a mere 24 hours prior! I have decided to leave my employ there where I found it......now they need a cook AND a maid!!! OMG- "The fork flip"!!! You mean this 'style' actually has a name? LOL! I see people all the time eating this silly way. I think to myself, Why can't he/she eat with the hand the fork is in?" It's the most asinine way to eat. Who puts the knife down, changes hands with a fork-ful of meat, then puts the fork in the mouth? I cannot believe this is actually a style of eating. It's like, you can't walk and chew gum at the same time? Sorry, Mrs. B, but thanks!

    • @TeawithMrsB
      @TeawithMrsB 3 роки тому

      Yes, I thought the same when I first saw it but upon further research found that the two distinct styles have an interesting history. It was the Americans who came up with the set style of dining. The Europeans then followed suit. The idea of the "fork flip" is that most people are right handed so cutting and eating with the right had was more comfortable. Time at the table was also about taking our time, relaxing. This is definitely a more time consuming way to eat and would hopefully afford diners to enjoy their meal a little more. Personally, I prefer the European style because it is best for children to learn to master how to use a fork and knife (as well as many adults). Thank you for tuning in!

      A collector's heart can never be tamed. It is not about the item so much as it is the hunt. I love the element of surprise in it all. We set out without a clue to what we will find but always find something. It's an optimistic way of living! Equally wonderful is sharing what you find. We share them with all of the guests who visit the tearoom. Children are the best recipients. They savor such treasures and delight in the story behind each one of them. Find a neighbor child and parent who you can invite over for a cup of hot or iced tea! Use your very best and enjoy serving them. And...if you want to take a page from my mother's book on life - I remember her actually taking a painting off the wall to give it to a friend who admired it. She later told me, as much as she loved it it is even more loved now for the act of being shared so generously. Try it out. Let me know how it goes! Hugs, Mrs. B
