How to Restore Rubber Floor Mats
If you own a car in the midwest that has rubber floor mats you know its hard to keep them clean. After they start to get old they never look quite as good as when you first got them. In this video I demonstrate a method that requires some elbow grease but brightens up those old rubber floor mats and gets them looking good as new.

Thule One Key System Install
Переглядів 71 тис.5 років тому
In this video I unbox and show how to install Thule's "One Key System" for the Thule base bars and roof rack accessories.
Perfect - thank you!
“Clean freaks” how about “dirty freaks” clean car is not freakiness. Dirty car that looks like trash-field that is for freaks.
Someone with a master key could open my thule system after the install?
No this is not possible. If you watch from about 2:30 to 3:15 you will see how the teeth on the locking core operate with the master key. They only release one side of the core. When in the locked position, the master key will not be able to unlock the core. it is only able to depress the core teeth in a way that allow it to slide in place. You are able to remove the core with the master key after the fact, but only when it is in a unlocked position.
@@andrewfroelich6773 great. Thank you for the explanation.
Thank you for the easy to follow video!
Simple and easy, thanks.
How do you remove the lock to say change an existing lock into a one-key system? Once you unlock and insert the master key, how do you pull out the lock?
🌍 Brilliant
Hi how to remove actual key lock ? Thanks
Thank you for the tutorial. Clear and well done! Since the lock is only on one side, I am a bit alarmed at how easily the plastic cover of the rack could still be forcibly torn off even despite the "lock," but yes, it does look like it's locked, so hopefully that will be at least be some deterrent against theft.
Thank you sir! Had not noticed the install key!!!!!!!
Does this not stain or bleed whatever comes in contact with it?
Thank you so much, I was going to return mine because of the instructions. After watching you I understood why it would not go in my bike rack cable. Thank you so much!
Didn't Chekov say "If an axe appears in the first act, it will be used in the next one, otherwise don't put it there."?
Very useful video, saved me quite some time when changing the locks of my roof and towbar bike racks. Many thanks from Germany!
Will the master key remove a locked tumbler?
I watched four different youtube videos trying to figure out how to put a core in, this is the first one that mentioned use a master key... I have a refurb Thule XT 4 swing away and cores with keys in a bag and saw the other key but didn't think about it... this video was the key to getting the cores installed. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
wasted my time! Even at the end I couldn't see where and how this lock can applied/fixed.
Not sure what you are looking for here.
First video I found that addresses the actual foot cover and how to get it off and remove the plastic lock. Thank you as I had it assembled for me and installed on the roof of my car before I found out the sales agent for Thule told me this model of racking system (naked roof) did not come with lock capabilities. Got them put together is a second. Thank you. PS on my box someone decided to put their 3" barcode sticker over the instructions so if you tried to remove it - it would peel off the paper instructions.
Can this product be used on only black rubber mats or also on other color mats such as beige or brown, etc?
The product itself is just a white-ish creamy color, so I’m assuming it can be used on any color surface.
If the lock is in place and locked, is it possible to unlock it with the “master-key”? …
No, the master key can only remove the core from the unlocked position. Otherwise you could just run around with your master and unlock anyone's roof rack.
Thanks because it wasnt obvious that the damn square key was hidden in the box.
Thank you for this video! Last thing I want is someone walking away with my Thule crossbars!
Thanks for making it clear
The best most comprehensive demonstration with clear explanations. Kudos!
Excellent video! I really like Thule products but their instructions are not the most user friendly to say the least.
"sleek design" yeah, not great for actually figuring something out.
thule bars are expensive enough and the you have to buy the locks :( what a bunch of robbing twats :( as for the master key you can fit and remove the cores without it ;)
In the crossbar, was the locking plate with the logo made from a plastic? It seems like someone could break into it with a drill or by blunt force if it is just plastic. Looking into options for cross bar security thanks, enjoyed your video
The cores are basically useless if someone actually wants to steal the racks. All it takes is 3 seconds and a flathead screw driver.
Assuming you can't, but I gotta ask. Can you open the lock with the master key or only remove the cylinder when it's already unlocked.
No, the master key can only remove the core from the unlocked position.
If I have a broken key in my cylinder and want to change it. Do I need to drill the lock and where to put the drill?

Thanks! Going to try it on my truck mats. The salt in Upper Michigan makes black mats look horrible.
Thule's instruction booklets suck. I'm pretty sure they just expect us to go on UA-cam to figure it out.
Does this cure? Or does it make the mats slippery?
Thanks for posting the video. Box instructions are useless. Thought blank key was to get another spare key made, lol.
If I'm not mistaken, the lock on the footpack does not thing to secure the end cap on the bar, meaning that the end cap can be taken off and whatever items you've slid into the t-track on the bar can be slid out and stolen?
Étienne Robelin This is sort of true, however if you look at the bike rack receiver you have to slide the bracket in and then lock it. The two bolts that connect the receiver to the rails are protected by that slide bracket which has the lock on it. To access the bolts to slide off the attachment you still need the key.
@@andrewfroelich6773 Hi. Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure I understand. If by bike rack receiver, you mean, for example, my Thule Big Mouth, and by bracket you mean the t-bolts on the xadapt2, then all I'm doing is opening the aerobar endcaps, sliding the t-bolts into the t-slot, then closing the endcaps. The only lock on the Big Mouth itself is on the lever that locks the clamp onto my bike frame.
@@EtienneRobelin On my SnowPack the connectors inside the screw mehanism for it inside pulls the snowback mounted on the t-rail DOWN also when you screw it tight, so it holds it in place - you can't just slide anything off unless you break that open also.
Appreciate this. Thank you, friendo.
Does is come with the universal key to remove the old cylinder?
Can you remove them too?
Yes but you will need to have the key to be able to set them to the unlock position first.
Thank you!
Thanks for the video, the printed instruction on the new model is useless.
