You guys need to realize that there are limits to an AF officer career. First of all, each promotion from Captain and up, there are two chances to get promoted. Although, promotion to Captain occurs for the most part, promotion to field grade is totally different. One has two chances in the primary zone but several below the zone chances. A below the zone promotion record must be better than all of the "in the primary zone". The primary zone is the zone that most people make major. A twice failed promotion to major results in a transfer from the active services to the reserve or out the door. Twelve years of hard work are gone. Although a severance pay is possible but you are still on the street. Don't listen to recruiters and these "pie in the sky" people. One bad or average Officer Performance report and you are done for. A successful officer career is a promotion to Lt. Col at the end of 20 years and retirement.

The majority of AFSCs do not require any special kind of degree in order to be an officer. Of course, engineers need a degree in their field as an engineer. Pilots require any degree but I suggest one have a pilots license and instrument rating before applying. The scientific fields require a math or related degree. Recruiter will tell you anything. Most lie but some don't.

I talked to a recruiter recently and they told me they are not looking for anyone with my degrees at this time. IT Bachelor’s and Cybersecurity Masters. He pointed me at the Space Force.

Hello loved the video. I can’t find any help but I’m a college graduate with a bachelors. I have my pilot license I’m rated all the way to cfi with 400tt. I really want to join and fly. I’ll fly anything they want I just don’t want to sing up then get sideline or a different job than pilot. Are my chances good because I feel confident

Is it likely for an Air Force recruiter to advise a civilian they must enlist because their degree is "useless"? I have a BA in psychology with almost a decade of administrative experience. I am interested in joining whether it be Active Duty or Reserve. However, I am 32 and I want to make most of the time left to serve. Would you say it's worth to enlist first, gain experience, and then apply to OTS despite the cut in pay? Or is it worth going for OTS directly knowing I don't have the previous military background based on how many years I would have left to serve on the military?

This explains why the Air Force ghosts college graduate applications. So gross for the recruiter to not be transparent. Just say in the email or return a phone call and state Air Force is not accepting applications for officer school. Ghosting is vile.

1-2 years!? I graduated from college May, 1979. I left for OTS around second week in October. Class 80-03. I was at a small annex near Lackland. It was called Medina. No way I would participate in this process and basically put my life on hold for 2 years and still not get accepted. But I joined at a unique time that the Air Force had a lot of officer openings. I would not do it today. FYI. The rated OTS trainees went to a small base near Lackland 6 weeks earlier than non-rated trainees and received their PPL for FREE. But just another of the endless hoops needed to complete this program.

Start studying now. Up until you take it. Focus on timing yourself as this exam is more about time management than knowing the material. That said, do become competent in your math, reading and specific material. Leaving questions unanswered can hurt your score but answering them even if you don't will not.
