Rob contacted me because his Webasto was not working and would start and stop when he opened the doors or windows. Leaking caps caused damage to a few components on the board and the pump mosfet was blown.

The new style smd boards in the thermo top c are failing! It seems that when webasto changed to this type of board they changed to NEC for the processors from the old Motorola ones. What is happening is too many heat cycles is damaging the EEPROM which is inside the processor. With this one the EEPROM was damaged or corrupted. It had lost its start count, and its timers were not moving. Every power down would bring back the error Defective Control Unit! So swapping out the cpu was the way to go! WARNING: BORING SOLDERING WORK
