    Here’s one suggestion of how I think it should have been dismantled for restraining works .A 100ton mobile crane multiple straps an all sides of the four faces and corners and I mean multiple multiple straps and lift it slowly but straight upwards you’d have more chance of saving a lot more of that wonderful clock than that clown 🤡 did with his unknowable attempt of how to use that machine in a wreck less manner

      They don't want to save it. Look at some old photos, and see their 'success'. Been going on since the World Fairs of the late 1800s, part of an invasion of our world.

    It was just a fine piece of Edwardian masonry. A handsome thing that added a great deal to the beauty and charm of its area. Anyway, congratulations to the Council who stand in the long tradition of Stirling Councils determined to destroy anything of remote aesthetic value in the town. The Baptist Church, The Station Hotel, Viewforth even (which was good of its type and finely landscaped). There is such a long list. And on the other side of the balance sheet such wonders as The Inner Relief Road, and "The Bridge to Nowhere". What a place.

    I no longer live in Stirling, but I am both shocked and disgusted that the council has done this. The footage of them taking it down- what an absolute mess. I don't believe they will follow through on their plans to 'rebuild and restore' it, at best it'll be a cheap simplified version. I hope the people of Stirling make their voices heard, and care enough to follow up on this

      There appears to be a worldwide movement to destroy all the previous era's beauty, so we only see modern, transhuman shapes and forget our harmonious past. They erase our history, one beauty at a time. When I look back only to the 1950s, I'm shocked how insidious the masonic movement has been in removing all the things that remind us of who we really are.

    • @FATBOY692011
      @FATBOY692011 11 місяців тому

      It won't be restored as they destroyed it taking it down. What you may get is a facsimile of the clock. It will never be what was there before. As a listed monument Stirling council had a statutory duty to care for and keep it safe. This has been neglected over many years and the important thing to note is that they didn't bring in a specialist stone mason firm to carefully dismantle and catalogue the pieces, they brought in a demolition company! The chief executive of Stirling Council can make all sort of soothing speeches, hell I can say I have the moon in my shed. We know that's a lie as is the words coming from the gilded tower of the council exec office. He needs to go, either by falling on his sword or being forced out by public backlash. The council as a body corporate should be prosecuted for the destruction of this clock. They have committed an act of cultural vandalism, which had it been an ordinary member of the public would see them in front of the sheriff to face justice.

      @@FATBOY692011 Masons pretend they like stone building etc - but in practice they are behind the wholesale destruction of our history. For each new 're-development' in the 1960s and 70s there was a row of masons voting in through.

    A wolf saved Stirling from invading Vikings. That tree was cut down to make a point. For some people climate change does not seem to be a reality. How many more trees will turned into something like this? "A work of art," other material could have been used. This will be a reminder of those who don't care about trees and the environment, if they did, a tree would not have been used. If the tree was dead then this new structure won't last as long as a living tree. Stirling is a beautiful city, it's architecture and landscape testify to the creativity of those who care about their surroundings. Trees are can integral part of our fragile planet and should not be exploited for someone(s) ability to create "art."

    Subscribed, Colin. Thank you. Many heart-felt memories, and remembrances of what came before, with my respect of and living in Stirling, 1993 until 2009. Your narration is from the Heart, replete with love and your respect for Stirling Town and environs - never forgetting Baird and Hardie, the Radical Martyrs, who were put to death in a disgusting manner (8 September 1820, outside the Tolbooth on Broad Street). The Gentlemen were later disinterred from Paupers' graves at the Kirk of the Holy Rood, Stirling, and reburied together on a hilltop within Sighthill Cemetery, Springburn, Glasgow N1.
