Take a peek into my experience abroad at NUS, filled with new friends and adventures!
loved this ahaha
Hi! Where do you live in NUS? I am coming this year!
Did you receive some financial aid?
How we can manage our living cost while studying plz tell me
Were there programs offer at NUS that allowed you to travel to the other countries? For example, for community service and etc? Or is it recommended to travel on your own/ with friends to other countries? How much was each flight to the countries you visited? Sorry for all the questions! I am going to try to study in NUS next year XD
Oh my god that's a lot!
I like that video
LOVED this video!
Hey Amanda, awesome video! Makes me pumped and want to go. I plan on going exchange to Asia in the near future, however, I am stumped on which one to choose. What made you choose NUS apart from its academics. I am also interested in possibly South Korea and Hong Kong. Were you debating like me or did you always have Singapore in mind? Thanks :)
Thanks! For me, I knew I wanted to travel and visit other countries and cultures as well, so I also chose Singapore because it is one of the main airport hubs with many easy and cheap flights going in and out everyday. Hong Kong is another main hub, however I find travelling to and from the airport there is harder/more expensive since it is on its own island outside of the city. I was debating between a few countries as well, but always had Singapore in mind for Asia because it was one of the few cities in the world that had an inspiring scene in interactive digital art (my field of study). Good luck and hope this helps!
Yes, definitely :) Cheers!
I really like the song in this video, what is the name of it?
Can't Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake
I was an exchange student when I was studying Walailak University, Thailand #Miss U NUS
Nice video! I'm thinking of studying at NUS. Did you study abroad for a whole year? How was the academic part of it?
I did 1 semester abroad and had an amazing experience! They had 1000 exchange students the semester I was there and did a great job organizing activities for us. It's also very easy and efficient to travel SE Asia from SG. Academics are highly regarded there as they are the top university in Asia.
Canada is so very awesome...thanks for sharing !
Can I ask you a question. When you went to NUS what classes did you take? Did you have trouble getting classes and were they Major Specific classes?
I had a particular case where the major-specific courses that I wanted to take were no longer available to international students the semester that I arrived. Since I have a unique and uncommon major that is a cross between fine arts and computer science, I ended up taking marketing and design courses instead. Before I arrived, I was accepted into 6 classes even though I only needed 4 for a full course load. On average, I'd say most exchangers were accepted into 3 classes and then had to apply for other classes when they arrived through an in-person paper system where you had to visit the department's office to fill out a form (it could not be done online). Everyone seemed to be able to get as many courses as they needed. However, getting into specific courses that are high in demand might be a little tougher.
Did you travel to the other countries after or during your exchange?
Both! I made sure to have at least a Monday or Friday off from school so that I could travel during weekends, and then I spent a month travelling after the semester ended.
Hey i wanna aply to NUS? can you upload another video of NUS courses and its fees For example i wanna learn financial accounting can you please tell it's fees per year
Hey! Unfortunately I won't be able to comment on the requested information. Since I was an exchange student, I did not pay local course fees and only know about the select few courses I took in my 1 semester there. Good luck with your application!
Amanda Lee thank you for your reply
wow nus
Hello! I have applied to NUS and I am still waiting for their confirmation. May I ask you how long it took them to reply to you? :) thanks
Hi! It's normal to hear back from NUS very last minute for exchange! I only got my official acceptance a little over 1 month before I needed to leave for Singapore!
Oh that's good to hear, it's stresses me out not to have a full confirmation so close from the beginning of the academic year. I got nominated by my uni, I've been told it's quite rare that unis abroad don't accept you. Is it true? Should I trust these words? ahah (Thank you for the reply btw)
I totally understand that feeling, but for this, no news is good news! And yes, especially since NUS is a school that is often high in demand, the biggest competition is usually to get nominated by your uni, and not actually getting accepted by the host school :)
okay, I'm reassured. Thank you very much for your help :)
@@Mouustikable hey, may I ask you did you get in?
