First Floor of Kloeber Hotel and Sanitarium Done
So what I am building is the Hot Springs Hotel and Sanitarium that J.S. Kloeber M.D. built in 1900 along the Green River , a few miles west of Lester WA. It was to be the Pacific Northwest's version of Dr. John Harvey Kellogg's Battle Creek Sanitarium. Sadly, it burned to the ground in the 1910 forest fire, and was never rebuilt. I have the first floor mostly completed now.

Hot Springs Hotel Lighting Test 1
Переглядів 11121 день тому
First test after wiring in all the room LED's and stepper motor ceiling fans. The controller is an Attiny88, driving 2 mini stepper motors wired in series for 80 ohms total, each coil is on 2 digital outputs so 80mA avaliable, but only 62mA used to drive those motors. There are 32 rooms, each with it's own LED. There are only 18 digital outputs available after wiring in the stepper motor contro...

Z Scale Marklin Mikado DCC Test
Переглядів 1048 місяців тому
Modified a Z Scale Marklin Mikado with their newer can motor, custom shell, custom tender with all wheel electrical pickup, and installed a tender mounted Digitrax DZ125 decoder. Made a DCC track power circuit to replace the incandescent headlight, so the headlight will always be on, but the tender backup light will operate directionally. This is a slow speed test video.
Marklin Mikado Tender Pickup

I give up, I got one of 4 driveways mostly cleared and my snow blower overheated. It's 14 degrees outside, and the snow is dry, but it's just a bit too deep for my snow blower, and that's about 3 hours of shoveling for me.

Wonderful job... Can't wait to see it finished!
WOW, just WOW!
Thanks for the kind words sir.
Merry Christmas, Robert!🤶
And a Merry Christmas to you and yours.
love the mod under the turntable. do you have any tutorials on how you made the guide rail?
Thanks for watching Josh, I have the whole project logged at Trainboard in this thread: www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/np-lester-wa-t-trak-z-module-set-project.129952/ The turntable part is mostly on the first couple pages, and the parts were laser cut Polybak.
@@Robert_Ray_Z - amazing work as always! Wish I lived closer so I could see your work at shows in person.
lol. youfunny!
Thank gosh they got rid of those stupid town deer. That guy really needs to stop feeding them. Nobody in town likes him at all.
Ha. Know that exact house!
Lightening and thunder! Cool!
Dang! That's some crazy hail!
Nice work! But i'm confused how you removed the gear? It's impossible! (Not the lower one, but the higer one, connected at 3 pole motor).
I followed this procedure: www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/marklin-pacific-mikado-motor-upgrade.144097/
@@Robert_Ray_Z Thank you a lot for your kindness to send me link for see the procedure!
@@Robert_Ray_Z Obs: Congrats for your work at z scale. I operate at n scale and it was soo tiny, i can imagine how hard z was (i'm suffering to repair a marklin loco).
👍🤘
Looks best on the middle panel. very cool
Amazing work
Hi...Please remove the snow from the truck.. and record and share the full video while doing that...thanks
Hey Robert, time to stay in the house to play with the trains !
Brrrr
So...how about a sketch.
I think you’ll be ready to go with a top notch Christmas display as long as the kids keep the gift wrappings, bows and little bits clear of the rails. Good luck and best wishes!
My grandkids will be racing the trains for sure. I am thinking about some kind of cover or skyboard to isolate the tree from the layout now.
Beautiful!
Wow! Yikes!
cool!
Very cool, Bobby!
Wapiti Rail Shops says "this is great". Thank you for sharing. Come stop by sometime, we have something for everyone
Is that C4?
Haha! I use that earthquake tack putty for everything from holding components in place while soldering, to holding models in place, and anything that I wish I had a spare couple fingers for.
@@Robert_Ray_Z Nice recommendation for travel pcb holder
Appreciate sharing your thoughts and opinions regarding T-Trak. Need to clean my garage & organize my T-Trak modules too. Enjoyed this video
I have track down on 10 of 12 modules so far, then I can finally run some trains. It's been slow going, but hay, it's just one of many spare time hobbies.
Hello Robert, Very interesting project, should look amazing. For my model boat I am looking to add a rotating radar. Can you share the schematic and arduino program pleae? Thanks, Flip
Here is the code: _______________________________________ /* Attiny85 Stepper Motor Control Ceiling Fan Control You can wire in two micro stepper motors in series for 2 fans */ #include <Stepper.h> const int stepsPerRevolution = 20; // change this to fit the number of steps per revolution for your motor // // initialize the stepper library on pins P0 through P3: Stepper myStepper(stepsPerRevolution, 0, 1, 2, 3); void setup() { // set the speed at 60 rpm: myStepper.setSpeed(60); // initialize the serial port: Serial.begin(9600); } void loop() { // step one one direction: Serial.println("clockwise"); myStepper.step(stepsPerRevolution); } _________________________________________
@@Robert_Ray_Z Thank you, what a brilliant simple peace of code, thanks
CWD, lol
This was in city limits, but you can hunt nearby.
I will asume there’s no hunting allowed around cascade, That’s the end result, lol
Pretty cool!~ ]
Excellent. I have a few of these, getting them to do stuff is always a big ol fight, I've come to the conclusion they are just lazy. Therefore, I intend to interrogate each and every one to the full extent of my Arduino powers or this lead acid battery under the bench will get dusted off.
Yeah, they are a bit finicky, but so cheap, around $2, so they go into lots more projects.
We're not worthy! Bob, you do such incredible work! I miss seeing your incredible modules at the shows. Thanks for sharing these videos with us!
Wow, thank you!
That is *awesome*, Bob--best Christmas tree stand ever! How did you make the ceiling fan flicker--do you actually have spinning ceiling fans insde?
What I did was to wire in a couple 6mm stepper motors in series and run it with a Digispark microcontroller. Here is the video link to the ceiling fans operating: ua-cam.com/video/eRB4jFXg9uI/v-deo.html
That looks awesome, Bob--both the locomotive *and* the new layout! :)
Glad you like it!
Do you do commissions? Love your work
For sale?
I made it for a trade, It took over 40 hours work, I don't want to do it again. Sorry
That's beautiful, Bobby.
Thanks, it was fun to build
Joli 👍
Brilliant
very cool!
What are you going to do here? Is a Christmas tree to be on top?
Yes, it's a Christmas Tree Layout, with a smaller 4' tree on it.
Very cool! I love it. I like how you can see what's going on inside!
That's part of the fin, and it's so small
Awesome This is my favorite. I like the McDonalds and Taco Bell to. But this is tops.
Thanks for the kind words
The old Taco bell restaurant buildings were so much better looking than the soul-less squares they build today. Too bad they don't have actual bells anymore like this. Even though this one is missing the bell
Yes i agree, there was style built into the older restaurants that they don't have today. Even the corporate logos have lost all their original character, replaced with quick and soulless swirls. I did a bunch or research on this model and built a rev 2 with more of the original Taco Bell charm: ua-cam.com/video/tZJ5DVtveGs/v-deo.html
I love it!
Thanks for sharing this video and information. I need to dust off my laser cutter , you have motivated me to make more MRR projects.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas. I especially like you use of Magnets to hold modules together, the spacing of back drops with Multi color LEDs to change lighting effects is awesome too !
