DIY PAPR Machine - Powered Air Purifying Respirator
This is how I made my own powered air purifying respirator machine. Disclaimer - this is just a demonstration for a fun DIY project, please only use professionally manufactured and certified PAPR devices.

WAY! to big for how basic it is.
Great job. I hope you move up to LIP soon!
Link for the potentiometer?

Just got it off amazon
10 month old? Careful the state might consider your attempts to save his life with non-commissioned parts child endangerment. They demand your enslavement to spend exorbitant amounts of your energy within their matrix.
I really like the simple approach to air delivery that eliminates the need for a contaminant free box. Well done easily makes this the best diy papr on youtube because it is effective
Thanks!!
Sunlight backup is pretty cool. No battery
Thanks for sharing. I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what did your son need this for? Does he have some special respiratory medical issues? Either way your love for your son is shown through this project.
He doesn't need it for any day-to-day health issue, I just wanted it in case of emergency to help assist with breathing while wearing a mask. Also, this was more of a concept project than anything. It'd be much better to purchase a real PAPR machine. Thanks for watching!
Im making one of these to remove insulation and remediate mold in !y mother's old house she passed away. Along with our family going through other major losses and also my little brother getting cancer has torn us up. But my goal is to fix my mother's house and garden To memorialize the good times and also create a healthy environment for !myself and if I end up becoming sick and passing away myself. It will be a good home for the next family to appreciate. Will be vlogging soon. Good luck with your endeavors. Much love
Prime example of how a father's love will always find a solution. God is good 😊
If you're looking for a large capacity, cheap, and rechargeable set of batteries for projects, 18650s are great. 3 in series will give you 12.6 volts at full charge, they are only ~$5 each, most can store at least 2-3 Amp hours per battery, and they are rechargeable hundreds of times. 6 of those (2 parallel banks of 3 in series) would probably work great for you. Nice project!
Great idea! I never even thought about using 18650’s, I just kind of defaulted to the D’s. That could be a good upgrade to it at some point.
Why wouldn’t you filter the intake instead of your output? How has your motor stood up with it not being a continuous duty motor? Does it over heat after running for a bit?
Or use a DeWalt 12 volt

Nice UI. Monitoring down to panel level. Sweet. Tesla App nice too, but not to panel level.
How long operational? How long did you research before purchase? Did your research include Tesla Powerwalls? Your total cost?
Hey Bill, thanks for the questions. It’s only been operational for a few weeks now but we have already endured one (short) power outage, and the system functioned perfectly. I'd say I had been casually researching for a long time, but once I had the funds, I took a few weeks to decide on the system I wanted. I looked at the Tesla Power wall, and on paper it initially looked better, (more overall kWh storage, and more output at any given time). But the main thing for me was the ability to be both grid-tied and off-grid. Since I am suburban, fully off grid does not work for me. And traditionally grid tied systems turn off the panels when the grid goes down, so once your backup battery runs out...you are out of luck until the power comes back. I wanted my system to function like a back-up generator. My system allows me to power the critical load my house needs basically indefinitely. But there are a lot of other reasons I decided against Tesla; customer service reputation, less stable battery chemistry, their battery requires a cooling system that could break down, tesla uses a central inverter vs enphase using microinverters etc. As far as cost...it depends on a lot. For the best numbers you should definitely contact contractors in your area for the best info, they should give free quotes. But it also depends on the size of your panel array, number of batteries, location of your electrical panel to the system, and if your electrical panel needs to be upgraded etc etc. For me, in my area a good ball park number for the 10kw panel array is around $20k, and the batteries were each around $20k as well. So my system is around $60k upfront, but with the tax benefits we'll get 26% back in next year’s taxes. Making the total overall cost around $45k.
@@60secondprepper Glad you’re happy w/purchase. Are you (or can you) use your system as a VPP (Virtual Power Plant)? Have you used auto shedding feature or will you be using it? Does monitoring app (or hardware display) show real time current draw of batteries? Does system have generator connect port to recharge battery during grid outage if there’s no sun and batteries empty? ThankU.
@@gilbrook I'm not familiar with the phrase Virtual Power Plant, but i think your referring to the practice of selling electricity back to the grid? If so, then yes. When the grid is up and running, the solar panels prioritize providing power to the batteries and the house, any excess energy will be fed back into the grid and I will get a credit on my power bill. The company that installed my system estimates that our electrical bill will be reduced by about 55%, normalized over the calendar year. We did not do load sheading, we just selected the critical circuits we wanted backed up by the system and they were relocated to their own new subpanel. I actually haven't gotten access to the app yet since our system is still so new. Should be getting it soon, and I plan on doing another video showing the app. But I believe it shows the flow of electricity between the panels, battery, house and grid. My understanding is that this system IS compatible with some STANDBY generators, but for the moment it is not compatible with smaller portable generators which is disappointing. I was told they are hoping to add that feature for smaller portable generators at some point, but there is no timeline for it. But, at least it is compatible with some standby generators. This will allow for the batteries to be recharged if you run out during the night or if you have a day of poor sunlight.
Hey Bill, here is a quick overview of the Enphase Enlighten App: ua-cam.com/video/z2S9DVeE9es/v-deo.html
@@60secondprepper Thx for video link. Here in Massachusetts both Enphase & Tesla batteries qualify for Connected Solutions (VPP) www.masssave.com/saving/residential-rebates/connectedsolutions-batteries
Check out Sol-ark inverter; amazing product and even greater customer service and support! It's one of the best hybrid inverters IMHO. If you dig into inverter efficiency +plus the AC coupling and DC coupling ability of this beauty❣️ it's heaven for solar! Best wishes and still a beautiful system you have!😊👌
I've heard of the Sol-Ark but haven't really looked into it yet...sounds like I'll definitely have to check it out.
I install both. Sol ark tech support isn't the best in my opinion. And rma's are a pain. Enphase a Lil more forgiving. But functionality wise, the new sol ark 15kw is a beast. No transfer switch needed
Units are important. Those batteries are 10kWh each and do not output 10kW each. Thanks for the video.
Agreed, an important distinction. Since I'm limiting myself to videos around 60 seconds, I try to keep it all high level. But this is a good clarifying point, hopefully people who watch this video will read your comment!
