Shmups are my favorite genre of video game! I play both traditional and bullet hell with no preference for either Vertical or Horizontal as long as its fun i'll play it!!

Truly a step up from the first game in almost every way and just as forgiving. I only realized there was a free aim mechanic mid run lol, 3rd try overall.

Cool on foot shmup by Technosoft for the Genesis with some rockin tunes. Expert/Mania is the hardest difficulty and even on that its pretty forgiving. A fun time for all i'm sure.

Last game in the Ray series, very short and sweet with some fantastic presentation and tunes as expected of Taito. Using this ship for survival with 30hz is very funny. 🕊️

Fun and aggressive Indie shmup, great presentation and flow. Highly recommend a pick up if you like the style.

Exceed locks rank at max. This was a fun one, takes the polarity system from Danny Phantom Urban Jungle on GBA and gives it a danmaku flair, changing it from a puzzle game to a shmup. Top tier doujin along side eXceed 3rd

What did you think of this one? I've been coming back to this one lately and I feel like the scoring is good. However, it's got some smaller things that rub me the wrong way like the bullet visibility.

@morsalty Thanks so much man, i just did it last night. Such a well done game, very Cave-like in quality. I haven't yet figured the scoring system though, but i think it is similar to Ketsui, where shooting the popcorn enemies at point blank would create higher multiplier with lock on on big enemies that fire lots of bullets? Am i on the right track? How does it work speciffically?

Does this collection also have good action platformer? Something similar to megaman and castlevania where its more about dealing against enemies that spawns rather than everything is for platforming like Mario

I've only played the first row but yeah I'd say Barbuta is like that if you have the patience for it (I did and I love it so hey who knows if you'll feel the same way or not but here's hoping you will!)

amazing game! missed opportunity to use the translations though, theres two of them, and the dialogue is really funny and adds a lot of character... unless your ass is learning japanese you missed a bit of the fun! always love to see this one regardless.. free counterstop for anyone who wants to get a counterstop haha! - I love how you picked 8 way (which is the most based way to play) and played 1-way(tm) as you stated in your comments until you figured it out haha... gives the clear a funny character. ggs!
It's a shame that this Technosoft game (along with several other Genesis Shmups) was almost completely overshadowed by the Thunder Force series, which I think is a shame, since this game looks pretty fun. Also, those first three stage themes are godly! (As expected from a Technosoft game)

Remind me, there's no auto in this game right? It's been a while since I had my genny cart, but always really enjoyed this one. Lovely level design, though the charge attack sound is grating!
@emperorIng360 no auto but it's burst fire so it's not that bad at all

PS1 has so much soul. It's funny because PS1 has been criticized for it's blocky polygonal attempts at early 3D, yet I'm getting old enough now where I find it charming and nostalgic. Great clear as always dude.

I've just started on this game, and I'm a bit confused. I can't take out the final bosses arms as fast as any run I'm looking at. Do you have autofire enabled? Also, how do you get the charge attack to home? Mine only seems to be forwards!

@mr2nut123 Yo! So i am using 30hz auto. The secondary attack is activated by hitting the button once it's shot out. with the last boss, you kinda want to split your damage bit as there seems to be a damage cap per arm. If you focus one too long it won't take any damage. Best of luck!
have u tried advanced hardest yet? i wonder how big the difficulty gap is between that and this is.
@tplayer23424 I did a little bit right after, it's certainly more difficult. Just that added layer of complexity makes routing different and a bit more strict.
Thank you for this video. Your technique for beating Red Crab is just what I needed, so simple but so effective.
I love this game. It feels like an evolved PC Engine shooter because it's so freaking fast. The danmaku style is great and I love a good horizontal memo here and there, but it's nice to play something where you can really zip around and just go balls to the walls the whole freaking game. No boring filler either where you have to slog through the first level or two braindead if you're going for a full 1cc. Right from the get the action starts.

Meant to comment on here when I first saw this, but your 26:25 recovery was badass. That part was really tense for me because memo doesn't do a ton for you there and recovery is quite tricky. Great shooting.
