Inspiring! As you were talking about a 30l Board. Today I tried my old Kite Foil Board(Duotone Pace), 29.9l, 18.5", 4'10" with Foildrive. Frontwing Duotone Whizz 1000cm. 82kg weight. It almost starts better than my 45l Prone/Wing Board 4'6". The big difference is the rocker. I guess it's true what the guys from Foildrive say: length beats volume. Let's add, less rocker beats volume and maybe some inches length 😅. The nose of the Board is a bit wider, which makes it easier not to sink the nose while accelerating. It's amazing finding old boards that work well with Foildrive. Even Kitefoil Boards🎉. Enjoy your Lake withFoildrive. I do the same at Lake Garda👋.
Agreed. Unfortunately, I go from a 60L down to a 12L. Definitely need to get something in between.
smooth as always
🙏🙏🙏
Great that you show real life attempts
Fantastic that's inspired me to try my 34 liter board now ,, ive been learning with FD on my 56 liter. Thanks
I think a 30L board would be the perfect size. Guess I need to go out and buy one.
@@lakechamplainkitenwing you can never have enough boards !.. just get them all the same colour so the wife does not notice

ua-cam.com/video/y5BewJWMg3s/v-deo.htmlsi=Bx5iQuq-b1Qj_nOM This is some of the best video I’ve seen about getting up on the board. I just received my max about a week ago and have been out three times. I had a lot of trouble just standing up on it so spent a lot of time working on dialing in the throttle control with the phone app. This is well worth the time. Now that I feel comfortable on my knees, I believe I can start modeling the steps you are taking. I did a deep dive into your video to break the steps down into very small bite-size chunks that I think I can handle. Here’s a clip of my observations. Again, thanks for such a great video capturing the initial steps. I’m looking forward to trying it out in a few days.
Wow! That is some serious video analyzing. I do the same thing! I took the gen 2 out on a 12 liter board the other day and was able to get up. Wasn't easy. Training your trigger finger to stay steady while your body reacts to all sorts of other things is quite a challenge. Good luck and please let me know how it goes.
Look, I’m just really disappointed I watched and not once did I see Champ chasing you :)
Ha! However, I do have a story about coming across him while windsurfing years ago.
I got a chuckle when the one boat owner tried to yell you away. Is that common with the practice?😂
🤣
So you are transitioning from sitting to standing already in planing phase before taking off, I will try it.
Took a couple of tries. Have fun!!
@@lakechamplainkitenwing today third session and I rided standing up. The difficulty was gradually controlling the throttle. Helped me to lock my finger between throttle and the remote body
@@vim55k Amazing how you need to train your finger to do its own thing. 👆
With wing?
Haven't tried yet. Maybe this week. :)
@@lakechamplainkitenwing I am learning now on diy drive. Nobody actually shows how to do that and even to start learning in an unordered choppy sea water. And on top of that with the wing in these realistic conditions. It is always this glass lake water or smooth swells of Australia .... Common Or using these small prone boards , small foils... As if it is obvious doing the motor assist already when knowing foil and knowing surfing waves. I am doing it from the opposite - using assist to learn foil, waves and wind faster
@@vim55k Gen 2 put out a video last week showing how to get going in the waves. J-TURNS!!! Very very helpful!
ua-cam.com/video/mmsgBi8OL44/v-deo.htmlsi=yCvm1jwaAfxhYH8J
Thanks for the tutorial . Off to practice today 😅
Great one to practice on land. Before you put your foil on.
Looks awesome. I will try to practice this power jibe next session
Tip... Once you start your carve, UMBRELLA the wing (over head and flat with no wind in it) and point the nose into the wind like you would with a Heineken jibe. Let go of the back handle and UNDERGRIP the front handle. With both hands now on the front handle, you can really crank the wing around. Then, reach back with the new back hand and try to grab the back handle before it comes all the way around. :)
Awesome winging. I wish there was a time stamps for all the moves so it would be easier to review and try to learn a few. You have so many tricks it is insane!
Thank you. A lot more new moves since that video (will be updating it). I've set my channel up to do just that... Go to my Playlists, and you'll see Tacks, Jibes, 360's, Heineken Moves, Tutorials, etc. Under these, you'll find individual videos of each move. For example, under JIBES, you'll find individual videos for all the jibes... Heineken, Duck, Race, Power, etc. Also, you can hit the search button and type in the move to see the videos. Please let me know if that helped. Would appreciate the input. :)
G’day thanks for the tips, I’m old surfer too but new user just got the Foildrive & I’m on a Naish Hover Wing SUP 125lt with Axis 75 or 85cm mast & 1050HP Front wing or 890BSC, just seeing you pump I’m tossing up whether i need a bigger front wing or go a smaller board. What size is your front wing ? Hooroo 🤙
I'd definitely go smaller on the board! In the video, I'm using the Axis PNG 1300. It's great for flat water pumping and really small bumps (chop). For everything else, it's too big.
Sweeet! Curious what foil are you on ?
Axis P&G 1300, Short Fuselage 680mm, progressive 350 rear wing, 75cm mast
Thanks. Nice to see how it’s done in flat water.
My old-guy thoughts exactly! 👍
Nice video, but dude, you need to change most of your thumbnails.
Those rolls and pops looked so effortless. 👍
🙏🙏👊
Thanks for the video Mike ! I’m practicing this at the moment . Oh and I like the song
🙏🙏🙏Maybe I'll see you in Hatteras or on the shores of Lake Champlain.
@@lakechamplainkitenwing what's the song? I really like it but Shazam won't identify it . And your video has helped me!!!🙏 I'm starting to succeed at flagging out the wing 🤪🤙

This is Vermont area right!? Can kitesurfing there?
This video was filmed in El Sargento, BCS, Mexico. But, yes, the kiting and winging in Lake Champlain (between Vermont and New York states) is excellent!

This is really random, we met early November at the Hole in Hatteras and you were the only one out then as well! lol I'm looking to get a DW board for light wind winging and your video came up in my feed! Great video, you are killing it on that board. After I got back from Hatteras I bought a 6m wing and have been loving it. My buddy (who was with me at the hole) and I went the other in 8-10kn. It was a struggle getting on foil but once up the 6m was amazing. Thats the lightest I've been in and it was real challenging to jibe. Gonna start practicing race jibes as you suggested!
Race jibes are the ticket since you don’t get back winded or have to hold the wing up in light wind.
Been spoiled the last 3 months. The largest wing I’ve used is my 4m.
After watching your clip I searched for a Naish 2140 foil. Got to use it today, ice finally off the lakes. 8-15 mph winds😄
Judging by trees , seems enough wind for good kitefoil session… why not go kitefoil instead when wind is light?
That's certainly an option.
Hello, nice vidéo and good music !! When you drop your wing, how do you do to reach your wing after ? Do you have a friend who carry back your wing, or do you swim alone to reach it ?
Thanks! For this one, I swam back up to it. Ideally, it's best to do this with two or more people, and as a downwinder. The wing is never left on its own and you never have to swim. However, like any downwinder, you need to coordinate transportation. I plan on making a video showing the process sometime soon.
considering your 68Kg, why you did not consider the 96L ? that's much shorter and better for general agility... don't you feel the " canoa effect" on the 107L for turning?
I went longer and with more liters because I bought it primarily for down winding, not winging. I'm glad I did not go smaller because it's hard enough as it is for me to stay balanced in the bumps. Also, the bumps where I live are not ideal for DW'ing and the extra length really helps. I do not feel any delay effect in turning it while winging. I'm very impressed with the way it reacts. 🙂
Are you selling your 107L? I am interested
@@Giovanni.secret Nope. :)
I also have the 107 and love it. Use it mostly for winging. I am 75Kg. The narrow width and for forward foil box make the board feel small and very agile.

Where was this taken? Crystal clear water! You continue to amaze, bro!
The camera in the water shots are from Hatteras and the camera on the wing strut are from El Sargento, BCS. THANKS!!!🙏🙏🙏

Definitely a lot of fun! And this sport is only getting started. Thanks!!
Shredding!
Nice video! Are these from this season, or prior ones? Fields near Burlington?
I was home for two weeks last winter. Filmed in mountain lakes and fields on the NY side.
Awesome friend! No "head stand" 360?😂
Thanks!! Nope on the head stand. :)
Glad you got some snow to play on. Looks fun!
It definitely is! Not so much with the wing unfortunately.
Inspiring!!! What foils are you riding? You don't even drop in your turns. Keep up the great footage!
Thanks! I use anything from a Naish HA 1100 to a 2100. It all depends on how gusty the conditions are, size of chop, and weeds.
Holy cow. Please in which conditions do you use the 2140 front wing? Maybe I should take a step back and go to big foils again..
My thoughts on big front wings has totally changed. I'll use it if there are weeds in the water because it's much easier to purge than smaller foils and you won't get as frustrated. I'll also use it in silly gusty conditions, where you can stay up on foil quite easily from gust to gust. I even put it on my 60L board and use it with my 3m wing. You definitely won't be breaking any speed records, but what does that matter in those types of conditions? I won't use it in surf or swell (bumps), or when conditions are steady enough where your wing is fully powered up (then it's too slow, won't glide as well as the smaller foils, and will work against a fully powered wing). These new large foils turn plenty quick!
Great, thank you
I feeld sorry for you guys.... nothing more to try and accomplish. 😅
😂
Mind blowing! The impossible IS possible!
🙏🙏🙏And it's only the beginning for this sport. Wait until the young ones take over!
JEEEEEESSSSSSUS that was an INTENSE 9 minutes!! kudos my friend. you got a deep bag of tricks. respect.
🙏🙏🙏
amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing skills👍. Your wing video shorts are awesome and just the kind of stuff I want keep learning! I’ll be studying and practicing a bunch of these “moves” you’ve recorded. Thanks!
Fantastic! Thanks! If you come up with any new moves, please share.
@@lakechamplainkitenwing Yeah, probably no new moves from me. Hard enough just mimicking what’s out there, and stuff my 65 yr old joints can handle🤪. Forgot to ask what foil setup you’re using and your weight if you don’t mind?
I'm mostly all on all Naish, 75cm mast, and anywhere from a HA2100 to 1100 foil. I ride the Naish 60 and 75L boards, depending on the gusts. For light wind, I have the 107L Armstrong DW board. I weigh just shy of 150lbs.@@targadave
@@lakechamplainkitenwing Thanks!
Sweet! You there now or is this archival footage?😅
Archival. Wish I was there though.
Thanks a lot Michael for the instructions!!! … isn’t that Canadien hole!?
Oui❣️
You are a magician
Old guy trying to be cool.
Nice... I'm sure if SRV was around and winging, he'd would have already learned that:) You could also call it "Texas Flood"
Very good album
Great simple tips. The only thing I would have added is how to swim the wing around in a circle when doing the in the water version. Rotating your feet around under you in the same direction (surfers know this but not everyone else) is one good way.
Thanks for that tip coach!
