    Inspiring! As you were talking about a 30l Board. Today I tried my old Kite Foil Board(Duotone Pace), 29.9l, 18.5", 4'10" with Foildrive. Frontwing Duotone Whizz 1000cm. 82kg weight. It almost starts better than my 45l Prone/Wing Board 4'6". The big difference is the rocker. I guess it's true what the guys from Foildrive say: length beats volume. Let's add, less rocker beats volume and maybe some inches length 😅. The nose of the Board is a bit wider, which makes it easier not to sink the nose while accelerating. It's amazing finding old boards that work well with Foildrive. Even Kitefoil Boards🎉. Enjoy your Lake withFoildrive. I do the same at Lake Garda👋.

    ua-cam.com/video/y5BewJWMg3s/v-deo.htmlsi=Bx5iQuq-b1Qj_nOM This is some of the best video I’ve seen about getting up on the board. I just received my max about a week ago and have been out three times. I had a lot of trouble just standing up on it so spent a lot of time working on dialing in the throttle control with the phone app. This is well worth the time. Now that I feel comfortable on my knees, I believe I can start modeling the steps you are taking. I did a deep dive into your video to break the steps down into very small bite-size chunks that I think I can handle. Here’s a clip of my observations. Again, thanks for such a great video capturing the initial steps. I’m looking forward to trying it out in a few days.

      Wow! That is some serious video analyzing. I do the same thing! I took the gen 2 out on a 12 liter board the other day and was able to get up. Wasn't easy. Training your trigger finger to stay steady while your body reacts to all sorts of other things is quite a challenge. Good luck and please let me know how it goes.

      Tip... Once you start your carve, UMBRELLA the wing (over head and flat with no wind in it) and point the nose into the wind like you would with a Heineken jibe. Let go of the back handle and UNDERGRIP the front handle. With both hands now on the front handle, you can really crank the wing around. Then, reach back with the new back hand and try to grab the back handle before it comes all the way around. :)

    This is really random, we met early November at the Hole in Hatteras and you were the only one out then as well! lol I'm looking to get a DW board for light wind winging and your video came up in my feed! Great video, you are killing it on that board. After I got back from Hatteras I bought a 6m wing and have been loving it. My buddy (who was with me at the hole) and I went the other in 8-10kn. It was a struggle getting on foil but once up the 6m was amazing. Thats the lightest I've been in and it was real challenging to jibe. Gonna start practicing race jibes as you suggested!

    Hello, nice vidéo and good music !! When you drop your wing, how do you do to reach your wing after ? Do you have a friend who carry back your wing, or do you swim alone to reach it ?

    • @lakechamplainkitenwing
      @lakechamplainkitenwing 4 місяці тому

      Thanks! For this one, I swam back up to it. Ideally, it's best to do this with two or more people, and as a downwinder. The wing is never left on its own and you never have to swim. However, like any downwinder, you need to coordinate transportation. I plan on making a video showing the process sometime soon.

    considering your 68Kg, why you did not consider the 96L ? that's much shorter and better for general agility... don't you feel the " canoa effect" on the 107L for turning?

    • @lakechamplainkitenwing
      @lakechamplainkitenwing 4 місяці тому

      I went longer and with more liters because I bought it primarily for down winding, not winging. I'm glad I did not go smaller because it's hard enough as it is for me to stay balanced in the bumps. Also, the bumps where I live are not ideal for DW'ing and the extra length really helps. I do not feel any delay effect in turning it while winging. I'm very impressed with the way it reacts. 🙂

    • @lakechamplainkitenwing
      @lakechamplainkitenwing 8 місяців тому

      My thoughts on big front wings has totally changed. I'll use it if there are weeds in the water because it's much easier to purge than smaller foils and you won't get as frustrated. I'll also use it in silly gusty conditions, where you can stay up on foil quite easily from gust to gust. I even put it on my 60L board and use it with my 3m wing. You definitely won't be breaking any speed records, but what does that matter in those types of conditions? I won't use it in surf or swell (bumps), or when conditions are steady enough where your wing is fully powered up (then it's too slow, won't glide as well as the smaller foils, and will work against a fully powered wing). These new large foils turn plenty quick!

    Great simple tips. The only thing I would have added is how to swim the wing around in a circle when doing the in the water version. Rotating your feet around under you in the same direction (surfers know this but not everyone else) is one good way.
