I just bought a leaf/stem of this and REALLY want to successfully prop it! But I'm terrified to cut the leaf like that. I put the stem in rooting hormone and put it in spagnum moss on a heat mat. Do you think stratum works better?

I've seen that sometimes you use your soil mixture and sometimes Akadama or other volcanic rock when sowing. I wonder is it for particular varieties of species you use akadama and sow in?
