Steam Deck Review: Valve Does What Nintendon't
why are you wearing a beanie??
🤣
<3 <3 <3
look at the camera when speaking and keep a screen that has a script there.
Just to explain, I don't currently have a teleprompter but hope to fix this in the near future. I have been trying to find other ways to review tech. But I feel that seeing the reviewer gives you an idea of what their opinions are based on. I will try to solve the problem next time. Thanks 👍
what book is that on the opening shot/beginning of the video?
Infinity Loop - By Michael s. Malone
Very good video. although it would be better if you weren't looking down at a script most of the time. other than that well done
Thanks I work hard on these videos 😀. On the subject of "looking down on the script"I get that comment a lot. Just to explain, I don't currently have a teleprompter but hope to fix this in the near future. I have been trying to find other ways to review tech. But I feel that seeing the reviewer gives you an idea of what their opinions are based on. I will try to solve the problem next time. Thanks 👍
I honestly feel like the best bang for your buck is either a refurbished 14 inch M2 pro or a new M3 pro since you can find those 300 dollars off at the moment. Either way, great video :)
Bad opinion. Try Surface Laptop. Same trackpad experience.
I have tried surface laptops. I can see the benefits of using it for media work, it's just Windows that I am not a fan of. As I mentioned In the reviews this is just an OS that I am more used to, and it's about choosing the tool that will be best suited to your own working lifestyle. Opinions are opinions. Not bad but your personal preference
I just made the switch myself because of windows recall but lowkey I forgot how nice Macbooks are
recall was removed, and it can be even disabled by user.
@andreaslassak2111 yeah until they switch it on when you update the computer. I don't trust Microsoft one bit after they pulled that
When Microsoft announced the recall feature, I was sceptical as well, but Apple later approached the same area of the ML world. So I don't know what to think of this change at the moment, AI is a fascinating and fantastic tool to help anyone. But we need to think about the impact it can have on us now and how that data is sourced. It's better to be sceptical of every company (to a healthy extent, and not take everything from a PowerPoint but experience. Will will just have to see what happens to these new AI based OS's I would be Happy to hear how your experience has been since swapping to mac os, and if you have every had any problems?
@ItsMacBla I guess it's also worth mentioning that "AI" has already long existed... it's generative AI that's the real buzzword and I think it's way overhyped. AI proper though is very useful and can be used for good for sure. As for the swap, I had used Macs for almost 8 years before I swapped to windows so it's been pretty familiar and with minimal issues. The real issue tbh is gaming, but I still have a dedicated PC desktop for that
@@ItsMacBla What? apple isn't doing anything EVEN REMOTELY Close to Recall. Why do non-tech people assume they know what the hell they're talking about? Jesus. is that beanie blocking your brainwaves?
Your best video yet by far, some of the shots reminded me of MKBHD
Tank3 vs k668 vs pd200x for voice used who win ?
I don't know. I haven't heard of that mic, I will give it a look. Thanks 👍
I enjoyed, might do my own version at some point
not sure if youd call this a "vlog", but you should definitely do more content like this in my opinion, along with the podcasts. this was really good 👍
I apologise that I didn't specify the gear in the video, it was supposed to be a quick edit. For the comments reporting back. I hope this helps, this is all the information. I will be updating as more questions are asked: DAC : scarlet 1i1 doesn't have native Linux support, based on what I found. I ended up plugin directly in to the steam deck, and getting the errors in the video. Screen: 1440p resolution Dell 60Hz Mouse: I think its the "G402 HYPERION FURY", this was plugged in to the dock made for MacBooks. The error only happened in game's. OS: Steam OS "Linux" USB HUB: Dodocool (Bad Name) I was given this to use I don't like it ,and I suspect its where the errors are coming from.
I have the Steam Deck official Dock and don't have any of these problems. Logitech Mice and Keyboard connected via USB and a 1TB hard drive, Ethernet and a 4k 60hz Smart TV. Some games run great nativ and any other games that need more gpu/cpu performance I stream with steam link or moonlight from my PC to the living room. The audio problems could be fixed if you look up if there are any Linux laibery for your audio DAC.
I have been planning on getting the steam deck official dock at some point this year, but I don't have the spare money for getting at the current point of time. Both the audio and mouse problems only happen when playing games (Tested: Cyberpunk 2077, Counter Strike 2, Half Life and Quake), for every other moment they worked fine. and the DAC (Scarlett) has no linux drivers. Thanks for the support : )
pretty cool video keep up the work.
I have a steam deck and haven’t had these problems. Did you install windows?
No no no. It was more likely to be the usb adapter that was unsupported but I did check, the only thing I could think of was I have done something to the linux distro. I just like to share problems so others can be informed
@@ItsMacBla tbf the steam deck docks are a bit iffy, would recommend a JSAUX or Sabrent one
I have been thinking about buying one of those. thanks for the suggestions I will give them a look
@@ItsMacBla I personally own the cheapest JSAUX one and only issue is only 2 usb ports so no USB port for my headset :(
This seems like a you problem. I mean I got Tekken 8 demo working right now on a display at 60fps with minor frame rate drops. And use my mouse all the time on it docked. Maybe you just don’t know what you are doing? Though how anyone could fail at using a dock is beyond me. Maybe you are just that dumb?
There are better ways of saying that. no it is more likely to be a support problem or an error with the linux version I was running at the time. When it comes to technical problems its always good to share them so people in the community can create a solution. its not a stupid think to share technical problems
Worth of money microphone.
Cool video, We want the MacBook review
Shhh....🤫
Pacific rim is the worst film of the 21st century
There you go, I have been waiting for that
does steam controller works with apple silicon macbooks?
I would say yes, but it requires steam. Which I believe is leaving apple later this year
What software did you use for this?
I edit on davinci resolve, and made the graphics in after effects
@@ItsMacBla I mean on the deck for the music. Please don't tell me that it's just a video on the deck. Edit: I thought I was replying to the short about the music on the deck
@@opengaminggame6639 oh ok, it's just running Spotify installed by the steam OS Linux store. Once it's installed you have to add it to the steam library, then use the type C port to play the audio on the speaker. Hope this helped
Not he steam controller 2, they need to move the analog and button to the top, and the touch pads to the bottom and add a d pad
Personally I prefer it the way they already have it but I am not a fan of the normal controller layout. I understand why it would change so your probably right.
Your video quality is way higher than your subscribe number. Please keep posting!! Also I saw you are using professional podcast gears and you own a podcast channel. I wonder if you would like to review our K688, which is very affordable option for podcasting.
Thanks, I put a lot of effort behind the scenes into my videos & podcast. It nice to get some good feedback 🙂. I will look at reviewing you mic (k688), because I am actually out of tech to review at the moment. But first I will have to wait to save up some money for it. - Thanks , Mac B
@@ItsMacBla Great, if you are interested, we could provide a sample for you. I'm actually working in FIFINE. :)
@@FifineTed for the start, I would prefer to buy it my self for security reasons. I will talk with my team at press red to see what they think.
I love my steam controller, not for gaming though. I picked one up used a few years back for around 20 USD, and it was probably the best addition to my media PC setup. It is simply so more convenient than a wireless keyboard and mouse combo.
when i see effort have put in i sub :D keep it up sir
It's a great controller, although I do wish that there was another joystick on the right. The ergonomics of this controller are the best I've ever experienced and I wish more were like it. Good video!
I love my steam controller !.......word on the street is they are working on a new controller and I can't wait. My guess is it'll come after they release steam OS3 for all pc's
Just saying, the steam deck and steam controller are two completely different things.
Yes they are, but I wanted to do this video to show how the work on the steam controller led to the creation of the steam deck.
Regardless, I will say, I agree completely and love the steam controller. Great video, and nice little history lesson on valve!
best i would like to see you play metal gear rising with that controller, that game is known for its complex controller testing with its quick response times, etc.
I can tell you now that will be a mess of my terrible aim. but I am definitely going to give it a go for fun
and get so far
?
Linkin park reference
only 3 views? your damn underrated
Another 1k view video you love to see it
You changed your profile?
Ultrawide also 50 mp not 8 mp lol
I was in a Rush with this script, and I have said in the past I use Machine Learning to assist me. It muster got through my radar, I am sorry I got it wrong I will try better next time. I would re-upload but I can't risk it, so I will just pin your comment and hope others look at it
Not 64 mp it's 50 mp lol
Sadly you need a pc to be able to even play any game right
True..ish, a lot of the games aren't supported but the good thing Is you can ignore it and just give it ago anyway. The only games you can't use are some games that have blocked the steam deck like destiny.
@@ItsMacBla could I play call of duty, resident evil, saints rows ?
@@THEEMUWAY resident evil and saints rows are a yes and so is call of duty apparently
1:32 you can reset the game after your first playthrough hit shift tab and you can go back to just playing with leshy
CULTIC alongside Forgive Me Father is one of 2022's most underrated shooters. CULTIC alongside DUSK is the closest thing we'll likely ever get to a Blood 3. CULTIC is the love child to Blood and Resident Evil 4 with references clearly inspired from both those classic titles and even a reference from the forementioned DUSK with a soap bar you find in a couple of CULTIC's levels. Nice video btw!
It sounds like you should be doing game reviews
2021's remastered version of the original Quake is my favorite remastered game I've played yet. Quake 1 and Quake 2 being two of my childhood favorites alongside Doom 2, Wolfenstein 3D, Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Jedi Knight 2, and Duke Nukem 3D. This remastered version of Quake was my first time experiencing any of Quake 1's expansions from back in it's youth as an existing product where the only expansions I had for the older games from back in the day as far a physical copies went where Quake 2: The Reckoning, Half-Life: Opposing Forces, and Team Fortress Classic. Quake Remastered being one of my games on my Steam library where I unlocked all achievements on making it one of my 27 total Perfect Games on Steam that I'm currently rocking on my Perfect Games list on Steam. Nice video btw!
Agreed that doom 2 and half-life are tow of my favourites
That was my catchphrase. Anyway have fun.
Wow, what a fantastic video!
good review, i expected you to have more subscribers :) love the genesis reference in the tiitle
