Crab Snaring in San Francisco for Rock Crab
Using a crab snare to catch some delicious rock crab here in San Francisco
It was a slow day here at the pier but my family was still able to pull in some rock crab for me to show in this video. Dungeness Crab cannot be kept inside the bay so we were only fishing for Rock Crab. Comment down below if you like rock crab.

Crab snaring for Dungeness Crab on the beach and making a delicious stir fry. My buddy and I went crab snaring here on the beach in San Francisco, I taught him what I usually do on the beach crabbing with a crab snare. After two cast in, he managed to reel in a gauge buster! It was a funny and awesome experience. I ended up taking the crabs home and cooked up a delicious curry stir fry, it came...

    That was a graceful crab not dungeness. They are deeper purple, but look very similiar to dungees, they are also much smaller. Crabs in the bay are dirtier because the bay is dirtier😂

    Those “butterfly” nuts are called wing nuts. If you can afford a $ bucket I guess an extra $1 at the bridge? I’m not excited about the increase either. See you out there.

    I think you’re measuring wrong, you can get in trouble by keeping those smalls. it’s not point to point. It should be the distance between the rear base of the points.

    If you guys are looking for huge crabs you should try out the yacht club in SF. Although it’s illegal now to go crabbing in the bay I still fish there because it’s silly to follow the fishing rules in sf when all the mayhem is still around. I’ve caught way too many big ones there and I loveeeeeeeeeeeee to burn spots because clowns actually think they own fishing spots 😂😂😂😂😂😂

    Nice. We thinking of trying but we need to get equipment. Do you recommend a 12 foot vs a 10 foot rod?

    • @heykenai
      @heykenai 27 днів тому

      I recommend a 12 foot rod for sure especially if you’re crabbing out on the surf like you saw in the video. It helps with farther casting, the 10 foot rod is fine but I highly recommend the 12.

    Are you including the points on its shell when you’re measuring? Cause that one at 8:50 looked undersized when you gauged it. It has to touch both ends of the carapace, not including the points.

    Been there several times this season and it's been all smalls except 1 keeper. Some really big rock crabs right at that spot you're fishing though. Never really keep them because the shells are super thick and literally so little meat in them. Lots of dungees caught but gets tiring pulling up undersized one after the other. In general it's been a lot of small crabs this season from OB, CB and BB.
