Noob question: Are all those red parts just cosmetic pieces or do they serve a purpose?
They are pretty much a cosmetic piece. It's a road car so any potential change of airflow they may produce wouldn't be noticeable.
AU WRX VIDEOS 🤘🤘🤘
Really appreciate the support! Tanner and yourself were a huge inspiration behind me starting this channel and my build. Love your channel and keep up the amazing work you do for the VB community!
You need to get a brake line wrench set. It’s common to strip those bolts on a brake line. There are wrenches that are designed just for this task.
I was using a flare nut wrench, but definetly need to get a proper brake like set then
Nice! What are your wheel spec? I have a wrx TR and am looking to go down to 18s for a winter set.
Wheels are 18x9.5 +38. Fortunately dont have that issue here in Aus.
Love the video bro. I need to do the same for mine
Thanks Bro! This was a mod ive always planned jsut happened sooner than expected as a full set became available. I havent had a proper chance to test them out yet, but they are feeling good and will help out when i eventually track this car.
How much US $? And did you just get the calipers from eBay?
All up was just over 5K USD on current conversion. Calipers came from a local source, not eBay or even a pre-made brake kit. I'd look at the kit from FastWRX if you are in the USA.
Great video! Very helpful content!
Nice work!! Looking great!!
Nice wrx mate! Im based in Perth too, which tuner are you planning to work with?
I was planning on Maximum as they tuned my old WRx, but unfortunately they are booked out until January. Currently checking out Evo R as they've done a friend's VB as well.
I live in Perth and got the RS. If your keen to catch up let me know! Ellenbrook
Awesome! Always good to have someone else from Perth with the VB. Hopefully come across you at upcoming meets!
Hi mate I have a VB WRX and live in Perth too I would love to see your car Ken

Hi mate, just picking up my vb wrx tomorrow (Sydney). I was thinking of going to pulse racing for a pro tune soon after run in. Who would you recommend?
In the Sydney area id be looking at Upspec Performance for the VB. Dan Um has been working with the VB since day 1 and has a range of packages to choose from. For other after market work try DC Jap and Street Element/Dmaker - both have workshops that can install parts for you.
Hi mate, Great video, I've just changed mine over today, after watching this video I ordered the gearbox mount bushing before installing the COBB plate and bushing, so thanks for the tip!
Hi Mate, glad the video helped you out. And hopefully your install went a little easier than mine. Enjoy driving it now!
Hi mate cool videos,I've got the sti lip aswell but scrapped in driveway, was wondering what colour code would you use for the calipers cherry blossom red,,,so I can get touch up for front lip ,,,thanks man ,,,ur build is looking sikkk
Thanks! You are not the only one, Ive got a small chip on my rear diffuser and the underside of my front lip is scrapped. Colour codes Ive found for the Subaru STI is either pantone 207C or Pantone 1935c
Thanks mate ,,, looking forward to see the progress of your vb ,,,cheers
Sony video looks great! Time to give those “sunnies” a wipe lol.
Thanks for the feedback! Still learning how to colour grade the Sony footage so should see some improvements over the coming videos. The sunnies do need a clean though!
I see you got engine light on why is that
Not CEL - it's the Low Type Pressure as I haven't swapped over the TPMS from the original wheels.
yes I agree, very typical
Noice .. from Melbourne Australia
Looked better stock.. never understood people that put the next model ups badge/parts on it lol focus fe with st badges.. Veloster turbos with the N wing on it etc 😂
thanks man, btw how long did it take for the front n rear sway bars to be installed?
Hey! Only took me a couple of hours, but this was my second time doing sway bars so I had a little idea of what was required, and the use of a hoist helps.
Nice work, yep I agree it gets hot in Perth
Invidia Q300 cat back install is my next upgrade with a COBB pro tune at Evolution R next week, how exiting! what's next on your list VB WRXY
It's more a question of what isn't on my list, but I'm really happy with where the car is at. Small Dress up CF pieces soon, but it'll be the big engine bolts ons next - FMIC, J pipe, Pro Tune.
@@VBWRXY Nice!👍
love the vids im thinking about getting a VB thanks to you!!! I had a VA but gave it to my dad. Ill be getting the orange one hopefuilly in about a month.
Did you get the under bonnet air vent back on properly? Id like the larger scoop on my wrx but want it to fit back together properly
Yes. I don't know why I didn't show it in the video (had to re-watch to check) but everything is back on correctly including the factory heat insulation material. From memory I used the new hardware to secure the air duct back in place.
The spoiler that you have on your car, did that void any type of warranty?
If you are worried about warranty then I wouldn't really change anything, or get things done by Subaru themselvea. Subaru offer one from factory on the Club Spec model in Aus and I think optional for the S4 in Japan, so they wouldn't offer it, if it voided warranty, even if this is a 3rd party wing. Warranty of panels would only be an issue if there was a major defect to the panel that would be covered by such a warranty. Anything else would be classified as general wear and tear or accident damange and wouldn't get covered anyway.
A car dealership near me (Edmonton, AB) has a blue 2022 wrx with the STI wing which looks quite nice. However, they went way too far and put STI badges on the front and rear, now that should be a crime!
Nice I'm considering ALCON brakes, but the cost of a brake upgrade!! its not cheap
The Alcon kits are definitely pricey. Im going to try and get a brembo setup especially now that the TR/Ts and Club Spec versions exist which means those parts should slowly become available. Either that or a STI set from a VA.
Leave the fenders stock and spend the money on power and brakes
Thats where im heading currently. I do have plans for a BBK (either Alcon or Brembos) at a later stage. Its just all about the cost now
My next install is the COBB shift plate and bushing, white line rear sub frame inserts and a stiffer improved gear box mount, a note to all, beware of the IAG Air to oil separator (AOS) they don't fit Australian model vehicles where the master brake cylinder clashes with the AOS canister install.
Shifter plate makes a huge difference to the gear shift. I think the Group N gear box mount is the best option - stiffer than stock, but still some give in comparision to say the solid mounts. We've always had that problem with the IAG AOS kits. Pro Speed have a RHD plates for the previous models to mount it to the left shock tower, but the VB has all its electronics here now, so not sure what will happen there. Also with my strut tower in the bracket wouldnt work either. The Radium Catch cans also have issues with any aftermarket Intake Shrouds.
@@VBWRXY I've I've recently installed the Radium dual catch can with success and looks great, I've got the COBB shroud that works with the Radium pipe work.
Cobb don't have an aftermarket intake shroud though, just the alternator shroud. Or the CF intake snorkel. The PW and ETS (possibly even the Perrin) intake shrouds clash with the radium catch can that mounts to the ABS system.
@@VBWRXY yeah its the alternator shroud, way better than the stock
Leave the fenders stock .
I'm starting to feel that way now. The fenders just break up the colour the whole way around.
Great content. Keep them coming young man.
Ill look out for you on the Perth roads
Nice content mate, we love our VB's
I just got an ETS intake and tuned for e50 at 400/480. 22k miles later its got an Outfront bottom end cuz 400 aint cutting it no mo'
I initially wanted to go ETS for all my upgrades, but the intake is currently double the price of the PW. Upspec Garage who supplied my tune have their development car running similar power/torque to yours.
@@VBWRXY I am not familiar with them or what PW intake is capable of. At the time i made my purchase, 2yrs or so ago, there was only ETS intake that had the larger diameter opening and required tuning, once inner metal sleeve was removed.
Process West is an Aussie brand and has plenty of kit for Subarus. I believe their intake is very similar to the ETS in terms of air flow and requires tuning too.
god that model is ugly
keep posting, im always thirstin for s'more vb content. Can't wait to get one!
My feed is luckely knowing me Subaru all the way
That's why I making videos now. Watching all the Subaru content and going I can probably do that too.
@@VBWRXY definitely, your channel will grow just post weekly I'm starting 5 days again
@@pricklypeartv I would love to try for weekly uploads, Unfortunately due to the nature of my work and cost of parts for the next bit of upgrades its a bit difficult, so its about 10-12 days between uploads so far.
@@VBWRXY parts and work makes it more difficult but keep up with the vids they are good
I also have the LTT screwdriver in my toolbox. Love it! I'm going to order both of these and do the same thing.
Ratcheting screwdriver makes everything easier. Unfortunately I scuffed mine up when it got caught under the creeper during this video. The intakes a really simple mod to do, and has a great benefit when tuned properly.
@@VBWRXY the intake is on its way. The valve was out of stock but I’ll get it later. I appreciate the video for inspiration
Been along for a few of these videos, great work, keep it up!
awesome work, thanks for sharing the journey
You should have done a Perrin Turbo Inlet while you were at it.
I thought about it, but unfortunately it's on backorder here in Aus so would have been a couple of weeks to get the part. Additionally the PW intake is longer than most intakes and replaces all the plastic intake up to the metal turbo inlet. I am looking at in the future though.
@@VBWRXY Yes, I know I have the PW Intake...I was the first VB to tune that intake in the USA at the end of Sept 2023 at Felix Performance/Dmann tune. The metal stock turbo inlet has a boost leak. Perrin Inlet really helps to increase turbo efficiency. I have the Perrin Turbo Inlet and Diverter installed and am getting about ~200rpm earlier spool.
Great content, thanks for this. I’m to mechanically illiterate (and chicken) to move away from stock with my VB, but am enjoying watching you do it, cheers
Thanks! Nothing wrong with keeping it stock. This is my first time being this involved with the modding so it's just a fun journey for me.
I wish it was louder :c
It is actually louder in person/what's portrayed here. The mic/receiver was turned down (-10db each) for when it was in the engine bay and it still clipped the audio. It is definitely clearly audible when driving with the windows up.
They have better upgrades in the states with no spacer bullahit.
The earlier dev kits required spacers to fit the front brembos, but paragon and a few others have 2 piece kits to suit now.
When switched to the cobb OTS tune my care HATED it feedback knock was trash my DAM would be all over the place. I finally switched to the DMANN tune and it has been so beautiful since then.
I had something similar depending on my driving style, but found a style that minimises it though. Aparently the knock sensors on the VB are very sensitive. I've already changed to another tune and have noticed that everything is more stable too
@@VBWRXY what time are you running now? Also, do you have other mods?
Just finished installing and filming an intake video. As part of this mod Ive got an Upspec Garage Stage 1 intake tune. I think the knock sensitivity has been changed as I haven't seen as much and my DAM has been solid.
@VBWRXY that's great bro. Hope you enjoy stay safe!
@@VBWRXY Dan from Upspec is a good tuner. I'm currently waiting for Cobb to release the 2024 support then I will be getting the Accessport and hitting up Dan.😉
SLEEP TOKEN... WORSHIP
How do you like the new offsite? has the driving experience been compromised or does it not matter as you've moved on to coil overs? Thanks
The offsets only changed to accommodate the 1inch wider rim. The tyres are the same size as stock so they end up stretching a little to fit. As a result the contact patch barely changes, which means no real change in experience.
Definitely grab yourself a E-tune from UpSpec Garage
Ive got the intake on the way and I'll be getting an Upspec Etune shortly too. More power mods will be a little further off, but this is just the start
@@VBWRXY what intake are you getting?
Process West. Best value one in Aus.
it doesn't void the warranty... they legally have to prove what ever modifications you did to the car caused a serious malfunction if you need warranty work done.. You've been lied to. there is a supreme court case that was already decided in favor of the owner of a modified car.
Exactly. Bizarre how many millions of people can’t get this simple, grade-school concept.
You guys must be in the US, He is in OZ that law don't mean nothing here sadly.
I saw the original comment, and had the same thought so i never replied. Dont hear much from our Supreme Court, let alone anything to do with Cars. I feel like we should have to prove that the modification is the source or contributed to a fault, but ive never come across it. Just easier to think you are out of warranty regardless.
If you alter the ecu in any way, it voids your warranty. I'm friends with my Subaru dealer mechanic. He said they make him check every car that is in for warranty work, especially WRX. He admits they had to flag my VB. I live in the States.
@@tomrakusan1179bizarre that you think everybody lives in the USA.
Double resonators in your neck of the woods?? u.s.a. only gets the smaller one
Once I get the J pipe the front stock resonator will be gone. Ive also upgraded the mufflers to the R400 setup since this video. Looking at a Tomei setup in the distant future though.
Pretty sure im running this q300 now. Hope your still enjoying the r400! Great vids!
@@sk0rpien haha. Hope you are enjoying the Q300. I don't know if it's because you had it on your car for a while but I've found this R400 is quieter than others, but I did it's almost perfect.
@@VBWRXY maybe your mid pipe is different to the r400?
@@sk0rpien they look identical onlines and in person, it should just be the mufflers, but im not complaining, still sounds good.
