Looking for a flexible and rubbery shrink wrap for your DIY projects? In this video, I review a shrink wrap product I found on AliExpress that I used to create a custom USB cable for my Kickstarter project. 🛠️
Here’s what I cover:
• My thoughts on this unique shrink wrap material: how it performs, its shrink ratio, and how it compares to regular shrink wrap.
• Tips on sizing and using this material effectively.
• The pros and cons of this shrink wrap for various projects, from prototyping cables to rubberizing tools.
Key Takeaways:
• It’s bendy, rubbery, and works well for some use cases but doesn’t shrink as much as standard shrink wrap.
• Perfect for prototyping or adding a rubberized finish to tools or ropes.
🎥 Stay tuned for my upcoming video where I’ll share how I sourced custom USB cables from Alibaba for an insanely low price-and walk you through the entire process of launching a Kickstarter!

10 min Solder Fume Extractor Build
Переглядів 1,8 тис.Рік тому
A quick and dirty 10 minute build of a solder fume extractor. This thing will outcompete all similar box-style fume extractors in terms of suction, sound and general filter extraction. The secret is the Noctua 140mm Industrial fan and the use of real 10mm thick Hakko filters. You can try to get the generic all purpose rolls if you want to save money but do your research and make sure they have ...

How to Fix a Logitech K380 Keyboard (unresponsive key) or Most Any Other Membrane Type Keyboard
Переглядів 115 тис.3 роки тому
Saving a Logitech K380 from the landfill. Update!-Feb 2022: Good news: The ‘g’ key still works! Bad news: A whole bunch of other keys stopped working. I can tell they’re tied together and lost connection. Some other people in the comments had similar issues. Anyway, this keyboard just really wasn’t built to last and I can’t recommend buying this thing anymore (unless you go into it knowing you’...
What part of Japan do you live in? I lived there from 2007 - 2009.
Hey! I’m in Osaka. Thanks for your original video. I actually sent you a message from a contact on your website but maybe that got lost somewhere. Looking to do a bigger change of the code but been busy with other projects. I’ll hit you up on github when I finally get around to the updates and see if it’s anything worth merging. But thanks again!
Amazing job with all the improvements! I never liked the resistive touch screen I chose either. As you pointed out they are annoying and slow. Thanks for posting this video, I hope it gets way more than 5k views!
Thank you! Last part helped me
I think you meant to draw the light circuit after the switch. More important as you said "I don't wanna kill myself doing this one" should go for the whole vid imho. Not so much I doubt you're experience, but viewers might not be that experienced. And no, "I watched it on UA-cam, it was really easy" doesn't count as experience. My advice, buy powerstrips etc that doesn't have any indicator lights and dispose existing ones elsewhere.
Yeah, that video was just me being silly. There’s another video where I review a powerstrip with no leds but don’t watch that either lol. Lots of those early videos are kind of silly and I probably will delete them in the future. The whole youtube thing is a learning process. But I’m hopefully (slowly) getting better with the content.
@@a_boy_can_dream I think the vid got a place here. Just slap some disclaimer on it "You follow the steps in this video at your own risk.".
Nice project, i'm just ordering the parts now as i need one. Ancy chance you could sign me up for the giveaway? :)
Helped to fix the scissor key back in place. Thank you!
Thank you for the video! Used it to fix keycap problem. I hope traces on my new keyboard won't deteriorate!
i love you thanks!! i fix my thing!
I only needed to reattach a key on my keyboard of the same kind but this video was the difference between being able to do it and not, so I'm very grateful!
Any idea if this library will work with Teensy 4.1?
I added to the description and recommended that people use the tft_espi library instead. It’s much faster and way more powerful. And they say it works with the teensy. It’s here: github.com/Bodmer/TFT_eSPI
Thanks for video, it helped me bring my keyboard back to life after six months of lying unused in a drawer!
Muchas gracias! Logre arreglar mi teclado gracias a tu video🎉🎉
THANKS BROOO, YOURE A LIFESAVIER!!!!!
Brilliant, Hermoso, bellissimo !! 👍👍👍👍
Nice project, I will be trying to turn my oven into to a reflow.
Very nice, I think this oven does better than the typical T-962 reflow ovens.
I have the same noctua fan but I bought the 120mm to replace a fan inside a fume extractor. My problem is the fan doesn’t work hooked up directly to the 12v power supply like you did, any suggestions? Thanks btw nice vid
Hmm… I’d check if you’re actually getting 12V from the connectors coming out of the fume extractor. Some aren’t actually built for 12V PC fans. Then I’d just try powering the fan with your own 12V source so you’re sure it’s working properly.
@ I’ve checked it I also connect the fan to my bench power supply same thing no spin, but when I connect it to a pwm fan controller it does work but then it stop
I think the fan is probably bad then. If you just bought it, you should return it. Connecting V+ and GND only to a 3-pin or 4-pin fan should just have it run at full speed with no PWM signal
@ it was the fan, I returned it and bought a new one as you suggest. The new one is working perfectly, thanks man
So much painstaking work for a crap keyboard that lasts only 3 months and wastes AAA batteries. Logitech should be paying the environment for that one...
"Silly condoms"? 🤣 great video!! I am gathering the strenght to fix mine
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU !!! I kept having really really dumb issues with this stupid thing. I don't know what exactly was causing the bug but ive been struggling with some sort of mixup between capacitor, ionic, ble, and all the stuff i built on my app. This got me thru it.
It helped me so much, thank you!
Very useful, I bought it thanks to your video, will use it with LVGL
Wow, didn’t know about LVGL. And just spent a couple weeks coding my own UI from scratch lol. Gonna check it out.
Warning: 1:25 Here's where you should pause and put down your coffee, tea or any other beverage, in fact anything edible, and swallow. Now you can proceed.
great video , thank you.
Thank you for the butterfly assembly instruction. it was a life saver to get that g back in there.
Wow an orange K380, I've only known of a pink, purple, and grey it's cute that it comes in so many colors.
Thank you very much, i am fix keyboard
Wow still a bit to get to 5k views. I may be 100% ready to build this by the time it does. Nice project thanks for doing this
It's incredibly satisfying to see the project running smoothly and the entire build process detailed in the video. However, after extensive searching, it seems no one explains how the code works. Reading through it and trying to modify things, like changing the TFT screen, is pain in the a**, a total nightmare. Thank you, "A Boy Can Dream," for this fantastic video!
thankyouu, very helpful
So don't put it in microwave.. Mine got completely ruined
Now sure why everyone says it works. I tried to assemble the key again and it keeps popping up. The direction of each part is correct but the lower part keeps popping out and the key is just loose 😢
Thank you for this. My Logitech K380 has been with me for 3 years and one of the keys fell off because I forced it out of my bag. Because of your video, I’m looking to another 3 years with my Logitech K380. Hehe 🎉
I am surprised 1kw oven is enough, i was planning to buy 2.4kw oven.
I saw another youtube vid where they said 1kw was enough if you stuck with the smaller ovens. I’m not doing any insanely big boards so the size is perfect for me. And it heats quickly and perfectly as well. It can ramp to 250C in about 3 mins at full power. With the profiles this is more than enough. 2.4KW is 20 A in America so would need a special outlet. If you’re at 220V you’re fine. Guess it’s just a question of size and how much you want to spend.
Very interesting. You faced every question I was asking myself XD Regarding the reassembling, I wonder about just glueing the white back cover on its perimeter. Maybe the plastic is hard enough to maintain the whole surface. Maybe glueing plastic on metal would keep it kind of openable on the future. Not very clean but... If I manage to disassemble it in the first place, I may try it.
Thank you. I don't have the H key anymore :)
It's been 3 years! Thanks so much! Accidentally ripped one of my caps off and your video was so helpful and easy to follow!
after watching this i throw away and brought new one
When cleaning with a toothbrush, I tore off a piece of the rubber part that I believe was the membrane. Can this be fixed or can I throw it away?
If it’s only the rubber part it could be ok. That just acts like a spring and pushes the key up. If it tore in half that could be bad. But if it tore around the edge and is still a little attached, I say just try to put the key back on and see if it pushes down and returns up ok. If the membrane piece came out completely but is not torn in the middle, try laying it back in the hole and putting the key back and see if it works.
Great improvement on the original! I am in the process of building one too! Good research. Sign me up for the giveaway too 🙂. Keep up the great continued well explaining. Peter AU.
Tohnichi makes the best torque wrenches. Wish they were more available in the states. You said 5nm is the spec you are using most. I would not recommend expecting any torque to be highly accurate at the lowest end of it's spec.
joven, le agradezco de corazón el tutorial, estaba en pánico pensando que rompí una tecla pero la pude arreglar, gracias nuevamente
Hey, really cool video! Building a solder reflow oven is something I've been particularly interested in for a while but haven't really dedicated any time to it. Your video randomly showed up on my yt home page! I like a lot of the stuff you did and will probably eventually look into modeling something off of your files here. Thanks for the video!
Yeah, a simple build (with actual PID smarts) but definitely worth it.
Nice build, sign me up for the giveaway!
Done!
is better buy a new one, this a pain in the ass
Why you dont use Swift to make the interface more pretty?
Lol. Yeah, the UI was basic. But the video was way too long as it was. But Tay Tay buttons would have made it better
Dream it make it success
Hero of hardware fixing!!! Ty
So after seeing this video I understand that I should just throw my keyboard out.
