1st car I ever drove was a Ford Cortina MK1, the gear change on the steering wheel and hand brake in the dashboard! I was 11 years old and went to Fresh Fields car park in Formby where my dad let me tootle around minding the potholes in 1st gear... it was a great experience for me, we did this regularly, I can't believe I can still remember its number plate! DLV 691C, he repainted it that lime green colour, can't remember the original colour, it was left in the garage for many years after he got another car, the clutch stuck so wasn't drivable, until I had a go messing with the starter! and I freed it up, had loads of fun on our driveway as it was a steep incline, reversing down and hill starts, great fun for me as a kid. My dad used to let me do many things without a worry, he was either stupid or very wise in letting me find out things for myself. Dad left us all in 2015 when I started my own business making microphones named after him, god bless my dad !

I owned a ‘75 two door 1300cc three speed auto back in 1979. A great little car that copped a bit of a thrashing in my hands and was quite a good performer for its size, 45mph in first gear, 60 mph in second, and 90 mph in top.
