Fishing Chicago's River Park!
Doing a little fishing Labor Day Weekend in Chicago's River Park. Was a good time with a couple of fish caught. Caught a bullhead around noon and a couple bass a bit later. Caught one of the bass with a nightcrawler on the bottom. The 11.5foot salmon rod with a Zebco 606 worked great!

How does the smooth bore barrel perform with the 8-18 grain skirt-less slugs that are intended for .22 PCP air rifles?
@@momosgarage I didn’t try with the slugs. I imagine it would have enough power but I didn’t want to try as I know those are intended for pcp guns…also for at least myself, I prefer to use the skirted pellets because they have a lot less max range and are safer to shoot up into the trees/air at squirrels

@@niksutherland4280 supposedly a shell will but you got to be pretty close from what I have seen. I have never been able to do it with a shell. The pellets work great!

It will definitely work for rabbits although I would suggest using pellets for rabbits as the shotgun load is a little light (maybe reload the shot shell and use more shot). I know Blocketh Outdoors got a rabbit with the shotgun load, as did the gamo folks but you need to be pretty close. The pellets do a pretty good job and are pretty accurate considering it is a smoothbore.

Instructions sound poor and no stringer. I won't buy this item because of that. Otherwise, it looks decent. Safety is a big issue.
It definitely is not the easiest thing in the world to assemble. That was probably the most challenging part, and the no stringer was annoying as well. Other than that though, it is a serious crossbow for not a ton of money.

Does this work if attached to a moving boat (say 7 - 10 knots) (I actually want to see depth only, not fishies)?
@@cvanscho it works for me moving at a slowish pace. I haven’t used it on anything more than a kayak or raft. Not sure how it would work on a motorized boat moving at a decent clip.

There's fish in the Papio, but the city has issued warning against eating the fish because the city admittedly still dumps in the creek. Too bad too. The creek could be a great feature to the city in many ways but sadly it's probably far too polluted to ever use for recreation.
I’ve eaten fish out of it a few times and am still kicking but I definitely wouldn’t do it every day. I enjoy fishing it because it is an easy creek to access. Would be awesome if they took care of it like the Kearney Water Trail.

Yep! Tons of fun! Great for target shooting and plinking. Hunting with them is pretty fun as well.
