Early Autumn at the Cottage
Looking forward to the change in seasons. This morning we visited a local fruit market to pick up pumpkins. I took a bit to walkabout and soak in the moment and makes them memories.

Cottage Build-The Exterior

In 2017-2019 the cottage was built on a beautiful, rolling pasture. We were drawn to the English Cottage style. With the help of a drafter we developed the plans. This video follows the building of the exterior of the cottage.
Spring potager Garden

This winter hubby extended the potager garden adding two beds surrounded by gravel walking paths. I have a few spring veggies growing and some Iris in bloom. I can’t wait until I can fully plant veggies and the cut flowers in two weeks!!

I’m not an artist though it seems all other family members have been gifted. I dreamed of painting the cottage but the thought of drawing, choosing colors seemed daunting so I sent a couple photos to Canvas By Numbers and I’m working on my first!
Christmas 2023

This year I resisted the urge to go buy new Christmas decor and opted to take a fresh look at what I already own and use it possibly in a new way. I recently was inspired by Ralph Lauren’s traditional, rugged yet refined look so I found the deepest color pillow cover I have for the sofa and filled the room with colors of deep leathers, rustic copper and refined brass.

Join me in the gardens. Zinnias, dahlias, aster, Bluebeard all in bloom. I gathered some green beans, bell peppers and showed the ripening butternut squash then I end with the enormous pumpkin vine growing at the feet of the evergreens.

Meadow garden 2022

Beginning stages of the meadow garden (before the deluge of hard rains for days). We planted pollinator wildflowers in the center and allowing native plants to grow around it the meadow was mowed in a formal garden shape. We look forward to watching how this grows. Enjoying the day as I go around to check on things around the house. The yard and many plants haven’t woke up from winter and there’s lots of pruning to be done but it’s still early yet.

Now l loved this not overdone, looked warm and cozy, loved the mantel with the deer, the little tree was a nice touch simple but pretty, your big tree was beautiful, very nicely done, not a bunch of christmas decorations and trees all around that people do, very welcoming. 😊
