Extended commute along the Arakawa to Kodaira. This was, as all rides this week, a fasted one. However, today I could really feel it. I had zero energy left and just wanted it to end. Anyway, the vista was great but unfortunately my GoPro battery died a couple of kilometers before finishing the river. Hope you enjoy the video anyway. See you next time. Stay safe, stay strong. Failed hill climb because road closure ⛔⚠️Had to do some serious climbing nevertheless 🚵🥵
Переглядів 8121 день тому
I had planned a short mountain loop between my office visits, but my chosen mountain pass was closed. Unfortunately, my alternate route was also inaccessible. Neither closure was indicated beforehand, so I ended up doing some serious climbing near the highest points of the road. Eventually, I had to backtrack quite a bit to rejoin my original route. Please let me know what you think about the v...

Tokyo is actually a great city for cycling, with those rivers like Tamagawa, arakawa. Thanks for posting, very relaxing
Thank you! Yes, I feel very privileged to live in Ikebukuro. Commuting to work in the morning and back in the evening means that trains are usually empty as well as the streets when I commute by bike. And if you want you can cycle along one of the rivers and at the weekend climb the mountains around Okutama. Amazing!
Is there a horse race track near this spot: ua-cam.com/video/OMuEqdHQ1ew/v-deo.html ?
maps.app.goo.gl/WZVaj6ZcsxbwqgVf6 Those are the Kawasaki horse racing stables. Across the street are the training grounds and the Kawasaki horse race track is nearby.
Why?
Why what?
@MYprefrontalRIDES Why are you waxing a chain? You only did one thing in the video, so I thought a simple "why" was enough for a question.
@Happyfacehotwheels ok, got it. But still, I could think of a few questions 😉 Anyway, since you asked so nicely, here is why: Waxing your bicycle chain offers several benefits: 1. Improved Performance: * Reduced Friction: Wax creates a smoother surface on the chain links, reducing friction and improving pedaling efficiency. This translates to less energy expended and potentially faster speeds. * Smoother Shifting: The reduced friction also leads to smoother and more precise gear shifting, enhancing your overall riding experience. 2. Enhanced Durability: * Protection from Wear: Wax acts as a protective barrier against dirt, grime, and moisture, which are major culprits of chain wear. This extended lifespan can save you money on chain replacements in the long run. * Corrosion Resistance: Wax helps repel water, preventing rust and corrosion, especially in wet conditions. 3. Easier Maintenance: * Reduced Cleaning: Waxed chains attract less dirt and grime, making them easier to clean. Regular cleaning and re-waxing are typically less frequent than with oil-based lubricants. * Cleaner Drivetrain: A clean drivetrain not only looks better but also functions more efficiently and requires less maintenance overall. 4. Environmental Friendliness: * Biodegradable: Many wax-based lubricants are biodegradable, making them a more environmentally friendly option compared to oil-based lubricants. While waxing a bicycle chain might require a bit more initial effort and investment, the long-term benefits in terms of performance, durability, and reduced maintenance often outweigh the initial costs.
@MYprefrontalRIDES I never heard of using wax for chains and never thought of wax as a lubricant. Nowadays, I tend to ride motorcycles with belt and shaft drives, so I don't use chains much anymore, but it's still interesting to know. Is this process only for standard chains? Anyway, thanks for the reply.👍
@Happyfacehotwheels That's a good question. I can only talk about cycling. And here the benefits are certainly true for the whole range of Shimano chains (high and low end chains such as DURA-ACE, ULTEGRA, 105, XTR, DEORE XTR, SLX, and DEORE) and SRAM chains.
こんにちは! 自転車で岡山?松山?まで行くとは・・・ チャレンジ精神がすごいですし面白い旅ですね(^_^)

Can’t wait to see the new bike. Hope insurance covered the theft of the previous one.
Insurance? 😂 Do you have one? I haven't been able to find a reasonable insurance. All totally overpriced and full with exceptions which make it almost pointless to get it. So I got a big ass lock and hopefully soon an android compatible tracker.
It a pretty normal response for that age. Humans don't develop empathy until later.
Yeah, the child is not to blame at all. 100% agree. We need to do 'bad things' in order to develop empathy, as you already pointed out. But I would have expected the father (let's assume it was the father) to anticipate the second 'assault' 😉
Its normal but that doesn’t mean its okay, at such times kids listening to parents is necessary, which he clearly dint but hell learn lol
Buseet na father dont bear any children if u cant control them
😂

Great work for both of you and Takei-san 💪
Thanks mate. We missed you!!!

very cute❤
Plenty crazy drivers in Tokyo 😅 take care mate
Will do. I have been going through this now for 5 years and have decided now not to hesitate anymore and post this stuff on UA-cam !
Lot of drivers don’t follow at least 2 seconds behind driver in front.
Yes, like cattle (sorry). The same with pedestrians though (j-walking). Once one person crosses the line, others will follow.
Whoa!!! No repercussions for most of these people. Red light cameras with fines would be a big revenue maker.
Oh yes. On a single commute (one way) from Ikebukero to Kodaira I see it at least 3 times.
thx!
What equipment do you use to shoot videos? i am instersted in taking video on roadbike
I am currently using a GoPro hero 10. The disadvantage is the limitation to just over 1h of recording time. Before I had a Garmin virb 360 which did a nice job as well but broke during an accident.
00:44:20 - caught by the peloton :(

Nice🦈🦈🦈
@user-qi1mi1zg5w thanks for the software recommendation! #telemetryoverlay is so easy to use!
thank you 😀
Great cycling! I also went cycling from Tokyo to Sendai 3 weeks ago to watch a soccer match. But in my case, it took 2 days!
Aww, thank you. I very much appreciate your comment. 2 days is probably the better and more enjoyable way to do it. But I am a little bit... extreme when it comes to cycling. Do you have family/friends in Sendai or was it only for the football match (sorry, I'm European 😉)? What kind of bike did you ride?
Glad you were back on the road. Will check other videos to see the plug.
Oh noooo! How far did you get? Could you fix or you exploded the tyres hitting the railway?
Not sure which area. Perhaps Fukushima. They put big nails into the wooden planks which you cross. I took a picture at a different place at daytime. Not sure where to post the picture
Posted it on STRAVA
Solid setup.
Yeah, more than enough for such a 'short ride' 😜
Monster ride!
It's really easy to do in Japan given you have the mental setup. Convenience stores everywhere. Although, occasionally, there isn't any when you need one particularly at the outskirts.
37:33 this crash happened at 47km/h !!! 😮 I was told he is doing fine! 😊
Great work Roland san 💪

Works well for me on my Edge 830. But can it be temporarily switched off, I think it draws a lot of power ?
Can't say. Never had any trouble with the Edge 1020 plus (of course). Did you actually compare the battery usage with and without the data field?
I realized that it simply works with ANT+ but does not work with BLE.
If you follow dfaa1 the day after a hard session will always be easy. The only time i do hard sessions is when i struggle to get my dfaa1 below 0.75 and with me being over 60yrs that's usually once every 10 days or so ,even less if I'm running more than 7 hrs a week. The days I can easily get my number below 0.75 are the days I wouldn't dare/care to do a hard session. So you picked a good day for the intervals.Keep these coming please, excellent info
Very good way to look at it! Just checked my training log and saw that I had a VO2max workout the day before. So I wasn't really fresh for this workout and I would have expected my DFAa1 to drop easier. But I am usually very fit at that time of the year (September). This time of the year it's much easier for me to drop DFAa1. Would be interesting to track DFAa1 systematically over the season.
@@MYprefrontalRIDES Obviously the VO2Max workout couldn't have taken that much out of you otherwise your DFA Alpha-1 would have easily dropped and you wouldn't have felt like doing an interval session the next day.
Thanks for the info 👌
Thank you so much! Glad someone finds it useful.
There are new versions of AlphaHRV, the Alpha calculation signature is somewhat different, it would be necessary to do a plotting to see how the measurements have gone. AlphaHRV produces practically no artefacts in ant+ because some parameters of the connection were changed.
My understanding is that ANT+ lacks the granularity that BLE has and is not the recommended connection method for HRV collection/analysis.
