For [111] plane, a triangle, all three sides of the triangle are along the diagonal of the plane so they share the length of sqrt(2)*a which makes it an equilateral triangle. How did you derive the right triangle? Thank you
Pay attention from 1:15 I attended to each faces, each square that built the cube… square has straight lines 90degrees and a diagonal line on each square.. That’s how I derive right angle triangle and not equilateral triangle

Recall we don’t know the length of each diagonal line that built the equilateral triangle..
Since we know the length of each sides or edges to be (a).
@@MideCaliEngineerthe triangle would have a right angle if you are looking at it from an angle normal to the plane of the fcc cube (normal to your screen). But using the same analogy, a [110] plane would have the same area as a [100] when examine from the same direction while [110] is 45deg off of the [110] plane. One should calculate the area of the plane from an angle that is normal to the plane instead of from the face of the cube, if I understand this correctly.

Please can you explain how you got the number of atoms again especially how you had 1/2 * 2
If I get you right you’re referring to 3:23 timeline, yeah???? So the atom along the line( slice) are half (one on each opposite sides of the line)…. Since we have 3 of such atoms. (1/2) * (3) =1.5 and in addition we have (1/6) * (3)=0.5 Total of 2 atoms when summed up.
