Same, I was talking with someone this morning about how this show takes massive unbalanced and drastic leaps in its plot and logic. It makes the storyline as a whole kinda disappointing bec the flow feels forced (lol)

There’s a huge expectation difference for HoD in comparison to GoT, because the plot of HoD is much simpler, there’s not nearly as much going on. So ser Crusty Coleslaw’s projection of his own guilt onto Arryk was painfully obvious to the point it was cringey to watch because there was no “will he, won’t he” or mystery to his intentions.

Dad is a great host. Out here asking all the right questions.

First of all, I enjoyed your conversation and sorry this will be a big rant, but at least you're getting the boost in the algorythm from getting a comment. ;P I wish I could agree with the high rating, but I seem to be in the miniscule minority of people who hated sooooooooo much about this revival... I'm a massive X-MEN fan, and I was obsessed with the original series when I was a kid, but a little bit of nostalgia alone couldn't compensate for what I thought were terrible writing decisions. 😕 Let me make this clear: I'm not throwing shade on anyone who did enjoy the show. Anyone who loved it - more power to you. And I'm also not saying there was NOTHING good about it. It was clearly made with love, and some things did work. Loved the changing opening credits. Did not mind Cyke's personality glow-up (although I do also have a certain fondness for stick-in-the-mud Cyclops too). It was good to see more of Kurt. It was REALLY good to see more of Morph being a full-fledged member of the team, I love Morph. (By the way, I assume you called them 'him' because you simly didn't catch on to the fact they were supposed to be nobinary now, and that alone is a testament to how so many things were not given proper attention and the transition between the old show and what is supposed to be a direct continuation was not very smooth. More queer rep? Great! But how about you at least make it clear? Did you catch on to the fact that they are supposed to be in love with Wolverine as well?) The bit where Erik tells Leech not to be afraid was genuinely heartbreaking. And I agree with you that the Madeline storyline was actually improved in the show initially, at least in terms of how it came to be and making Scott not a dick. (Except, of course, then they sped through any conflict and she was dead ten seconds later.) Logan taking a bit of a back seat for part of the season and being a bit more domestic was kind of nice, too. Also, I have always adored him and Morph, so I'm here for any interactions between those two, and I wish they would actually go all the way and give us a Morph/Wolverine relationship but I suspect there's zero chance of that, even though it would be a massive improvement on himcontinuously simping over Jean. Long story short, there were some good thing but overall? Booooooy, did I have issues with the entire season. I think it comes down to two things: 1. Just because something was in a comic book somewhere at some point in time does NOT mean it was a good idea and 2. good god, give your storylines the appropriate time and attention! Why, out of anything in the comics, would you decide to adapt the abomination that was the Rogue/Erik relationship? The idea is so weird and creepy, it has zero basis in the original show, so every time the characters try to retcon it in, they sound spectacularly stupid, it contributes to the assassination of poor Marie's character (which is a whole little rant by itself) and... Just why? I also agree with Charles being useless, but, to be fair, that's kind of how Charles often is, so that at least is not specifically the fault of this show. XD I had less issue with him being kind of useless and more with him going along with all the bullshit on his girlfriend's planet for half a season, which seems so completely out of character for him. (Again, I don't care if something is in the comics, I never liked Lilandra, that whole relationship is dumb, but this made it even dumber.) Him leaving the school to Erik would notnecessarily have been an issue depending on what point in their relationship it was done at. The problem is, here it seemed completely absurd because five minutes before Charles was whisked off to space, Mags was literally planning on taking over the world. Granted, he paused that to go see his dying bestie, but that's clearly not enough of a reason to suddenly think he'd become a pacifist once Charles was gone. If something like that had been done after an event where they clearly worked together and Erik seemed swayed by the X-Men's logic - sure. But the way they did it, he showed up at the school and gave a smug asshole monologue, sounding like a moustache-twirling villain for some reason (and he has never sounded like that before! honestly, what was the director thinking??) Then he 'ran' the school for all of five seconds and we moved on to other drama. Why in the world did they even decide to do that storyline if they weren't going to properly develop it at all? Then again, the same could be asked about every single storyline they decided to adapt. None of it was given any time to breathe at all. 'We only had ten episodes' (which is how they've been justifying it in interviews) is no kind of excuse. You had ten episodes? Then don't do 65 different storylones? What was the benefit of that? I get the feeling they did not have enough faith that the show would do well, so they threw in everything and the kitchen sink in case it got cancelled and they didn't get to touch on all of these storylines. In terms of villains, this was pretty meh as well. Bastion's zombie sentinels were just extremely lame in my eyes. The complex situation with Magneto stopping Bastion but simultaneously posing a threat himself was interesting, but not enough to make the finale actually good. Incidentally, that final episode had some of the cringiest Charles/Erik dialogue I have ever heard. I could go on, but this is already way too long. Once again, if you loved the show - that's great. Personally, I am very glad it exists - some form of classic X-Men is better than none and I will watch S2 to see where they take it - but I thought it was a bit of a hot mess.

I agree about the acting for Aang. It felt very melodramatic, like the whole "turn away from the rest of everyone and have a monologue by myself" was kinda extra, but I enjoyed his performance overall. I also LOVE how Zuko is being handled! *side note: Leaves From the Vine playing in the background of Lu Ten's funeral had me GUTTED! I'm hype about season 2 and more of yalls reactions!!

Unfortunately it didn’t work very well for me. Harrison Ford did a great job back as Indy and I found some of the action to be fun but overall I just felt like this was a disposable feeling kind of movie and the 3rd act really didn’t work for me. I’d be lying if I said I wanted to watch this again.
