Oh yeah the “tense” relationship with the audience. I luckily never had that maybe because I was performing from a very early age. And I learned, especially when playing music that when you fuck up, to either acknowledge it by pulling a disgusted face, and when that part comes around again, pull an over animated for of suspense. And when you play it right the seconds time people applaud extra loud 😂 Funny story I emailed with Andy Nyman when I was a mentalist - he was an honorary member of Psycrets too. He did a film called Wild Romance (I believe) it’s about Dutch Rock legend Herman Brood and I believe also Nena (they used to be close friends). We opened for Herman Brood and the Wild Romance 4 or 5 times. So that was a nice that I could actually tell Andy that Herman was that split personality, between a rock god and a tormented soul that could hardly speak because of the damage to his brain from the substances he had done. But he was so gentle. The first time we opened for them was truly our worst show ever. So bad!!! And he was like: “you can fight but it won’t make the show better. One question I ask all of you, do you love rock and roll?” -“Euhm yeah” “Then focus on the next gig and not on the one that is in the past that one you can never improve on.” Such simple wisdom. Only to hear speak to us one more time: “did you see my stuff? You know…”😂

When I created effects for TV shows, (some exposed on my channel) the departure point was always: "what do we like to show?! What do we want to portray?" And then we will find methods to do that, often actually being constricted by the production. But it generates the best theatre or performance and ultimately that's what it is about, a trick on itself is merely a puzzle. I love effects where the whole audience is doing something. Like checking to see if their wallet is stolen, or in one very cool case all getting an SMS message, playing with the image being on their phones constantly. And that method used was HIGHLY ILLEGAL, I probably broke 2 or 3 laws doing it but I had the comfort of knowing that it's only a crime when you get caught and that would never happen because nobody outside of that studio would be affected. Although I did some tests to be sure of my assumption :D And basically that really is what us Special Effects people do, we create methods to facilitate an "image". And Derren has been a major source of inspiration too in those magic/mentalism shows we did.

I really enjoy magic and most times, even though I cannot figure out how it is done, I know there has to be some logical explanation. Some of the stuff that is done in this video just seems pure magic! I cannot see how there is a logical explanation. I thank Derren Brown for tweeting about you and look forward to seeing more of you in the future!
