I've heard many people try to straddle the fence and have God start the Big Bang and then make the "days" into "galactic epochs" where life evolved. Two problems: 1. Big Bang and evolution don't match the sequence shows in the Bible. God made plants before He made the sun. Straddle that fence! 2. What exactly constitutes the "evening and morning" of a galactic epoch? There is no evening nor morning in space. Why would I worship a God so powerful He could create the universe but so stupid He forgot how He did it? Not only that, but there is a more personal connotation here. If God was floating around in distant space, there would be no evening nor morning. For there to be evening and morning, it means God was not only on the Earth, but in a specific location on the Earth. If He was on the opposite side of the Earth, then it would have been the morning and evening, instead of the evening and morning. Most theologians agree the Garden of Eden was fairly close to Israel. Nobody is sure exactly where, but we know it's around there somewhere. We see the Euphrates River in Genesis 2:14. So what if God did create the world from the other side of the planet? Have you ever considered that? It's off by a few degrees but it's fairly close. On the opposite side of the planet we have a position called Point Nemo. It's the farthest you can get from a land mass. It's the most remote place on Earth. When we force satellites out of orbit we make them crash there. There's nobody around to get hurt. It's remote and lonely. Nobody ever goes there. This is the opposite of where God came down from Heaven personally and created the world and the Man Adam to walk in His image. God never wanted to be a remote God. He wants a personal relationship with you, made possible by you joining His family by believing on Jesus Christ.
