GONNA USE THIS , THANK YOU!
I wish the calendar didn't say "During your Untap step" 8(
Man the people in these comments are terrible. Why would you craft this if you aren't prepared to protect this?
Enigma jewel is up there with obeka in some of my favorite magic cards printed for how much creativity it generates
heya been looking for a interesting superfriends deck and this one caught my eye, any other changes you'd make now? how are u liking it if you are still playing with the deck after so long?
You can do all of that or you could actually run a card that actually wins the game without allat
on combo 2 why didnt you just play the land and put the calendar on the field before setting up the dramatic reversal loop. that would give you time counters/ infinite mana without using your commander ate all. cool vid all the same.
That opening hand in a magda deck will win with a ham sandwich as the combo piece lol.
Wouldn’t….. that automaton have summoning sickness and so it couldn’t be tapped due to abilities?
What I mean is when I summon an elvish mystic I can’t tap it for its mama immediately due to summoning sickness
If it was using it's own tap ability, yes. But since he isn't "tapping" but instead is being tapped as a price for Clock of Omen's ability Summoning sickness doesn't apply. Same interaction as if you use Springleaf Drum
@@Pawg_Alf so that is to say I can still select creatures with summoning sickness to BE tapped by other abilities that require tapping another creature or artifact in this case? It was my understanding for the longest time that summoning sickness simply meant it was ineligible to be tapped period. Huh, learning something new about this game every day. Neat
@@maxlandon7942 there are of course a lot of edge cases and fun interactions. But a good rule of thumb is that summoning sickness only effects creature abilities that use the "tap" symbol.
@@Pawg_Alf genuinely thank you for the clarification. That helped a ton. I appreciate how you explained it too.
I love this background. Do you happen to have a link for the image?
Played in a game today where I dropped millennium calendar on turn 1, won the game in like 10-11 turns, pretty crazy
I’m sorry but you can’t do this. In order to use a treasures activated ability you have to be able to tap it. During set up for this combo all you’ll be doing is making infinite already tapped treasures and 1 untapped one if you stop. Tou cant just sac a tapped treasure- it is already locked down.
Every white player just casts teferi's protection and laugh while their life totals can't change. Otherwise fun combos.
I think it's the fast mana that's busted, buddy. We had other ways to combo off t1 without millennium calendar.
just do kinnan with kinnan things
Honestly, this isn't anything crazy. all it does is point out that it can be used as an isorev outlet or any other form of artifact tapping and untapping. To be fair, it is a cool card, but you didn't point out anything new, you just took two win lines and showed another end result...
Now im happy i opened one in my display esrlier this month!
An easy method of protection for Millennium Calendar is the Pandorica. It untaps the Calendar then phases it out until the next untap step, which should make it so it can still get the time counters, then if you have out the Sonic Screwdriver, you can use the Calendar effect a second time, the drop it in the Pandorica to protect it until your turn rolls around again.
Agreed, will be the primary target for Shatter... unless you draw a Counterspell. Good chance. Also, he seemed to fail to mention the best part of crafting The One Ring. Those Burden Counters? Yeah, they don't hurt you anymore.
Personally imma just use this with mana vault instead and uh yea I'll just win with infinite turns thx
Super fun thanks
Lol the clown car is the most fitting vehicle for crewing 1,000 creatures
Doubt this is broken. Did you see the opening hand lol. Most people will not have a land like that. I feel at this point you stacked the hand to prove a point when in reality that would never happen.
5:20 you just go infinte, play your whole deck, activate clock of omens on everything you play off of Magda on clock and use the tapped treasures for mana :).
So no only do you need a specific 7 cards in your hand.....you need to go second, AND draw that red dwarf. Good luck with that
That red dwarf is your commander, so you never need to draw it.
@@KhordLizardMage still requires 7 very specific cards in hand at start to "be busted".
If they could pull it off and it wasn't every single game I wouldn't even be mad. At least it'd be over quickly and you could start a new game.
This is jank incarnate
I already had a U/W artifact jank shell built before the Calendar dropped, now it's basically become a janky U/W Twiddle-Vault style Calendar commander deck, but it's fun and IMO that's what commander should be!
This is one of those astronomically rare opening hands.
It's more probable to open up with Exodia in Yu-Gi-Oh LMAO
Building this
I have won on turn 5 with millennium calendar in a tezzeret betrayer of flesh deck
Doesn’t the blue commander force you to draw cards?
There would be one card draw with the combo, yes.
Does this work? Doesn’t the activated ability say to put the burden counter on the one ring? Since the card isn’t the one ring, I don’t think you can target it, so you’ll only ever draw 1 card, right?
For abilities that are self-referential when copied onto another permanent, the text gets replaced with that card's name. So the ability would read to put a burden counter on the Locus.
@@EDHTactician ohhhhhh! Okay. So for example, if I exiled the millennium calendar and found a way to get a single time counter on it, then I could double them, but not actually win the game since the win con is a static ability and not an activated one, right?
@@earbitter Correct
This is a gross card in my Shorikai deck.
um, the goldberry combo doesnt need her tho? just by tapping and untapping the vault and crypt with the calendar on board infinite times (With isochron and DR) u will get the thousand time counters, no need to go for the extra step with the land and GB.
You need it for the Turn 1 win to get an initial time counter on the Calendar. The iso reversal combo would get you there on subsequent turns.
@@EDHTactician untapping the vault and crypt with dram reversal in itself is putting time counters on the calendar, u dont need the land or goldberry to get the first time counter on the callendar.
@@ferminbalestrini6193 "during your untap step"
great i have now spent 4 cards and 8 mana to tap one forest and gain 4 life
I like the Jewel a lot. I love these kind of cards that let me be creative 👍
The One Ring is totally unnecessary, since you already have infinite mana with Some Ring and the Staff of Domination.
You do not, since you can only activate the abilities once per turn.
Staff of domination : 1 mana is for the staff only not the enigma how can u untap it agaain -_-
You get two untaps because the ability gets copied.
The first combo here does not need the Millenium Calendar - the combo lets you tutor any artifact, so rather than put a dead card into your deck, you can just use literally any artifact win condition or mana sink - something where you can pay to draw cards / deal damage / like literally anything. The second combo I guess uses the Calendar because it's just a janky setup to put down the first time counter to use with the already existing infinite mana combo, but like, just put in any artifact mana sink for your infinite mana combo. It will now not require you to run this janky commander and janky blue land which seems all in on something so irrelevant. The third combo gives you infinite creatures, which i guess doesn't win on it's own, but it's already needing some sort of tapping engine just to make the creatures tappable, so you'd much rather just have something more direct like a sacrifice outlet. Overall it feels like if you're trying to use this card in an infinite combo, you're making it harder on yourself by having to give you infinite untaps instead of just using infinite mana to win the game anyway. Perhaps it'd be worth it to put in a deck where you already have a lot of untap effects (for instance something focused on the Ring) but overall it seems janky. If you think it's a fun win condition to put as your combo finisher, go for it, I just don't think it's going to be the most efficient option.
You aren't wrong. The Millennium Calendar is a fun win condition to try pulling off, though. The video is giving some ideas how you might get to it, but certainly there are other more efficient ways to win.
This craft mechanic is so unnecessarily complicated
Honestly? I don’t care about the back of the card. It’s a discount store sol ring I can use to flip the Phyrexian Heliod. Sounds niche, but in that deck all you care about is casting and flipping him.
I like your presentation
3 mana to put 4 counters? Doesn't ventifact bottle put an amount of counters equal to one less than the amount of mana paid for the top ability? Wouldn't paying 3 mana only put 2 counters on?
The jewel double activated abilities.
I'm aware that a few times when I say "counters" it sounds like "calendars" 😅 At multiple points in this video I say "colorless" mana when I mean "generic" mana. The craft cost on The Enigma Jewel would be utterly wild if you needed to generate 8 specifically colorless mana. Regarding the Teyo combo at 6:38 I had initially misread the card thinking that just getting double -2 triggers is enough to lock opponents out of attacking but the wording is "last chosen direction" and thus choosing left and then choosing right just cancels the first one out. This is why you need a copy of Teyo so that *each* of their respective last chosen directions is in opposition with one another. I probably should have mentioned somewhere in the video that Locus of Enlightenment only copies the ability, meaning that you only add or subtract loyalty counters once, as it's the activation cost, not the effect. If the text *after* the colon says to add counters (such as Gideon, Champion of Justice) you do get to do this twice.
That thing will be removed imidiately as soon as you get a turn.
True. Especially if you have a regular play group. You'll get to pull this combo once, and then the Enigma Jewel becomes a KOS card in every subsequent game.
I would not personally run this as you’ve now turned 3 great separate cards into one huge target.
"activate the untap ability" "K-grip" ...
If they are all in the graveyard then why not go for it?
@@kobeyaschi7532 That’s perfectly fine, but I’m wondering how often that’s happening where you would need to take up a whole slot for Enigma Jewel?
@@zanis_summers8284 if you're only arguing why it's not good you're never gonna find a time when it's broken
Enigma jewels okay enough on it own, if you’re doing an activated abilities heavy deck, it’s a “might as well” synergy imo
I also like how you don’t lose life for the burden counters
You are correct. However, you can also craft with stuff in your graveyard. So this will be able to give more value to something that's destroyed
@@danielcomer1855 I understand that, however that’s not the point. The point I’m saying is that since you crafted the one ring to enigma jewel, you do not lose life since that ability is not active ability nor is enigma jewel named “the one ring”
@@caleb2925the one ring name doesn’t matter but u are correct about the first part
Isn't this not supposed to work with staff of domination because the ability is untap staff of domination and enigma Jewel only gets the abilities but not the name?
I think it works because if I'm not mistaken, when a permanent receives the abilities of a different permanent that refer to itself, the ability can still be used regardless of the name indicated.
@@astuteanansi4935Correct, any Card Name mentioned by the same card [excluding cards mentioning other cards] will always be replaced by the proper card name as long as it refers to itself.
This is also infinite mana... Make the 4th card something that filters mana, and you have access to literally every card in your deck to cast whenever you want
Not sure how to do an infinite mana loop on this, given that you can only activate abilities crafted onto the Locus once per turn.
@@EDHTacticianSorry, my mistake. In the video, you activated the untap twice, so I was thinking there wasn't a restriction on number of activations
@@davenclawthehobbit2842the only reason it was untapped twice is because he used the staff’s untap ability, which gets copied. So im response to in untapping a second time you use the ring
@@cockman8437 yep, reread it.. the non mana abilities are duplicated
Just use a pili-pala, It untaps for two mana to generate one mana in any color.
