Double tracking with cassette tape delay - (headphones needed)
Переглядів 16 тис.6 років тому
Another feature of my cassette delay : double tracking, also known as ADT. How to get a wider sound ? Copy the audio from one track to another, and make it a little out of sync. This stereo delay do it instantly :) Well ok, we are no longer in 1964. It can be done with two clicks on a computer. But TAPE ! It turns and all !
Reel to reel "Frippertronics" Tape Loop & DIY cassette sampler
Переглядів 5 тис.6 років тому
Improvisation with 2 reel to reel tape decks and my homemade tape delay cassette sampler. Sound of guitar and cassette is recorded on the first reel to reel machine, wich is set on record mode. The tape travel to the second tape deck set on play mode, providing a very long delay. The signal goes back to the first tape deck again and agin until the sound slowly fades away in a cloud of hiss. For...

DIY cassette tape delay / echo (stereo)
Переглядів 374 тис.6 років тому
Here is my Time Machine. An homemade stereo cassette tape echo It took me 5 month to build. I had to start electronic from the very begining, and I think I've made every possible mistake before making this thing working. EDIT : Thanks everyone for your very encouraging comments, I really appreciate it ! A lot of you guys ask if I sell it or plan to build new machines. Answer is no, sorry. Porta...
That's a beautiful thing and sounds amazing. It needs to be marketed, it's so sad that Matt, the guy who built it, passed.

Please make a tutorial. This is not DIY. This is a “look what I did” video.
I don't think it will ever happen 😢
Some small company please make these - $1,000 each - you'll get 1,000 orders on the first day. A million dollars up front.
Sowas von sexy ❤
Fabuleux
Genialissime
Oh man...
"DIY" stands for, "do it Yourself", not, "did it myself" Without explanation of anything that went into making this thing, its basically just a showing off of a really cool thing.
seething
I NEED THIS
Sounds very nice!!!!
HA haaaa! That sounded great on so many levels! Nice work!
This is incredibly good
The tones and control are unbelievably good. I’ve seen other peoples tape delays, but this one outdoes them all. Brilliant work
where is the tape loop? this does not make sense
Watch the spools.
Cassette tape. Used to have a Marantz PMD223 converted to a tape echo, worked just like this albeit much uglier
He's using a three head tape deck. So it has an erase head, a record head, and a play head. The record head puts the input signal onto tape, then the tape takes some time to travel to the play head where the signal is reproduced. So, if you're listening to both the input signal and the signal that comes from the play head you'll get an echo. If you feed a little of the play head signal back to the record head you'll get a repeating echo.
shut up and take my money !
How do you make it
Amazing !!!
you ever described how to build that tape delay?
This sounds SO FRIGGING GOOD! Excellent work !
O M G
I Like it
I'm out of words, and the varispeed mellotron thing in the end blew my mind
I didn't realize he passed away, you rest in peace this is an awesome piece of gear

Really really nice, well shot vid too.
Cool effect. Only problem is it only does lo-fi. The reason studios use 2-inch 24-track tape is that its 9.4 millimeter width per track gives high fidelity; whereas cassettes offer just 0.6 mm per track (either with a 4-track, or just one stereo channel). It's why all old-school home recordists ditched their 4-track machines permanently when digital came along - the sterility of digital being preferable, nonetheless, to hiss and very low fidelity (which has a certain charm, but sounds light-years away from pro studio quality).
That is freaking cool!
Madnesssssssssssssss!!!
Sounds incredible! Have you ever made any to sell? You should.
He passed away
Love this! Nice build.
any plans and shematics?
Sweet riffs
How-To Tutorial Plz!!!
He's dead

Amazing! I want one! lol
Damn this is such a nice sounding effect. I need to make one!
Nicely done sir! I’m still working with cassettes never really adopted to the computer age 😂 editing is a bitch though!
Please make this with midi and sell it 🙏🏻
Absolument dément, j'adore, surtout la modulation et bravo !
I think we need a complete tutorial of how to build this machine
So this is what heaven sounds like?
