Pretty cool
Apparently I just learned today what EQ has to do with phase and not just "turning the nobs" LOL. Great video and i like the way you explain it <3
Nicee thank you
Sounds like a regular 808 bro, why are you hyping it up like that?😂
Hey man! - thanks for the video, it was super helpful!
Thanks for sharing!
Great stuff. Thank you. I've been doing my SC the old-fashioned way. Also, the Band on Kickstart determines the SC's HZ. If you turn it on at 320HZ, everything below 320HZ will get SC, and everything above will not. This might help it be similar to Shaperbox as you mentioned.
Yeah, i guess I probably should have said that it doesn't have the ability to set up a bandsplit with a sidechain on both the low and high bands like Shaperbox does, since Kickstart only allows you to duck the frequencies under the Band frequency setting. I liked having the option to duck the lows and highs in different amounts, which requires two kickstarts running in parallel with external bandsplits using something like EQ Eight
so cool
Love it!
Thanks for the video. Crazy how hard this is compared to Logic.
Really goooooooood technique!
Your videos are phenomenal! Please keep creating more without taking breaks :)
TY! Currently taking a break 😅 been very busy with some other projects lately, but I'll be back at it soon!
can we download on your Patreon?
really cool sounds! I wonder how I can do this in Logic or Bitwig ... hum
dope!
NVM. Found it!
GENIUS!!!!!
Where did you get that BPM Converter 👀
here ya go! maxforlive.com/library/device/6838/bpm-converter
there's a MIDI effect called phase pattern, by Phil Meyer, that does the exponential rhythm thing
Nice! You can also do it with Arpeggiator and Simpler/Sampler too, just nice to have yet another way to make it happen 😅
It's a cool M4l device. Haen't used it in a while, this seems like an interesting use
Where can I get the Device Randomizer?
should be able to find it on Gum Road if you just google device randomizer max4live or something like that
Thanks for video 👍🏼 I did everything and i succeed recording. But i want hear music when it’s play on spotify and play the drumm same time for record cover music. I can’t hear the music. I have roland octopad spd 30. I don’t use any audio interfaces. All of them just on imac. I can't hear the sound when I route the audio output to the blackhole. How can i hear do music same time ?
This is what I've been doing lately!
it's so dope!
is this native in ableton 12?
yep!
hah - the most interesting thing I noticed were your 3 reverbs in sends, I actually started using 5 (2 synthetic verbs (spring, plate), 3 space verbs) (short/room, med/hall, and long/very large space (think canyons)
Ah, yeah I actually don't really use those 4 reverbs very much at all. I use the 3rd longer one a lot, but I'm starting to dislike the tonal quality of it over time. The other 3 I straight up never use and just need to delete or replace with something that is more useful/sounds better
@@helloego absolutely understand that - I've been playing with different reverbs and using it for placement within the field. my biggest reverb is an xtra large space I tend to use that for pads and stuff. I'm also started to play with sidechaining some reverbs to get it "out of the way" of some sounds.
Awesome site, i already see myself getting lost in the vast sea of all the genres in there. Ty
For sure! I definitely love spending some serious time exploring it =)
Thank you so much
Excellent. Thanks.
nice
Thank you for this!
I don’t think anyone would ever actually use 16 brickwall EQs like that in real life. Feels like this only proves that if you push any effect too far it will cause artifacts which isn’t really surprising to me.
No of course not, the point of this video was just to show that EQ8 is introducing phase shifts whether you can hear it or not. With one you may or may not hear it (though it's still shifting your phase even if you don't hear it). With a bunch, you definitely hear it, and stacking a bunch of them up like this was simply to prove that fact.
Even Linear phase EQs will cause artifacts in the form of pre ring
Really appreciate the deep dive on this one! I've had Volcano 3 pretty much since it came out, but haven't gotten nearly this deep, especially with the modulators
I honestly avoided using the modulators for a while, but finally decided that I use Volcano enough, so I should know how to use all of it 😅 they're actually fantastic, glad you got a lot out of this video!
whats Hello Ego cooking up, some nasty bass?
I was! Gonna be setting a regular streaming schedule here soon and try to do one or two a week =)
love this song :)
Thank you! <3
best explantation in UA-cam, thank youuu!!
glad it helped!
very good thanks for sharing
dope
why am I just now learning this O.o i feel betrayed by my own DAW
On the plus side, if you put like 30 of these EQs in a row it's a pretty cool effect ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I hear that eq3 is linear phase. Thoughts on eq3?
Hey! Nah it's definitely not. In fact, you can stack up a bunch of EQ3s in the same way as I do to EQ8 in this video and get this really cool phase dispersion effect that is similar to the Kilohearts "Disperser" plugin. Give it a shot, it sounds awesome. I actually made a custom rack for myself with about 20 EQ3s in it specifically to get this effect =)
Had to really dig for this video. Thanks!!!
14:25 Yes you can, pushing into a brickwall limiter does the same thing. Pushing into a clipper from the bottom, not bringing the threshold down and clipping from the top, does it as well.
Compressors and limiters are time-based, and they respond to waveform peaks. They won't respond to the parts of the waveform closest to the 0-crossing point. Pushing into a brickwall limiter is similar to clipping, with the additional attack and release time that you don't get when using clipping, but in this part of the video I was referring to the fact that when you use a waveshaper, you can get at the parts of the waveform that are below its peak level and shape those areas closer to or at the 0-crossing point. No matter how hard you push a waveform into a limiter or clipper, those devices will be interacting with the waveform peaks only.
@@helloego "They won't respond to the parts of the waveform closest to the 0-crossing point" You are absolutely correct. When you push up into the wall of a clipper or limiter you are bringing the middle and or lower up while those peaks crush. The part I missed is like I quoted up top, it does not effect the zero cross the same. My misunderstanding, thx for the correction and the vid.
