Cheat Sheet: Modifiable Variables Associated with Parkinson Progression
Переглядів 5296 місяців тому
I recently gave a lecture at Tafara Farm outside of Negril, Jamaica and they warned me there wouldn't be internet or powerpoint available. I did my best to summarize the impact of different modifiable variables, relative to one another. Comprehensive conversations about the possible hows and whys behind these associations can be found in www.Parkinson-School.com.

Most of us - and people with Parkinson's in particular - get tight feet and few of us have the strength and flexibility that would allow us to give ourselves daily foot rubs. The muscles and tendons in our feet need attention! This video is from the Jan 2024 course, "Toys, Gadgets, & Gear" www.Parkinson-School.com

What is Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER)? And why isn't it being done in Parkinson's? Why are some clinics getting better results than others? It is ethical, appropriate, and/or essential to report on the outcomes their patients? Would physician egos permit it? I just did it and it doesnt hurt at all the needles are so small
You forgot the part about taking purging the air out of the needle. Probably the most important step
Thank you Laurie for your videos. I have learned a lot
Wow! That scratching technique really helped!!! Thank you so much!!!❤
I can't get my mom's parkinson's dr to give my mom a neuropych evaluation. They said it won't change the outcome of her treatment so why put her through the eval. It is really frustrating.
dont we need to pull the syringe to test fpr blood? And when doing that dont we get some air into the syringe?? If we do, is that dangerous??
I watched the following video ua-cam.com/video/fMEZdNodGM0/v-deo.html as well that shows where you should inject ~2:35 min and read some articles on potential complications. I'm not particularly afraid of needles, but I never watch them being injected because it grosses me out. I didn't get alcohol swabs with my pharmacy order, so I appreciated this video or I'm not sure I would have known to buy them. I did my first B12 injection in my upper thigh today by flexing my muscle first for better placement. I did it quickly and didn't think about it so I wouldn't psych myself out. I did get a little muscle twitch and a minute amount of blood on the way out, but overall went great. My syringe was a single use and I didn't need to do the pressure trick. Also make sure you have your needle below the liquid line (duh). For those that don't want to do an intramuscular injection, look into subcutaneous instead. I believe B12 can be done either way.
Is your leg supposed to feel tingly and numb after?
The information about the pressurized bottle was good, haven't seen that info before. It's difficult to see the needle injection and injection site, which is what scares and confuses most people. How far do you push in the needle in before injecting? Do you push the needle all the way in? What about pulling back on the syringe to see if there's blood coming out (some people do this, viewers don't know why).
Thank You Laurie.
Can anyone help with how much im supposed to inject? I have 10,000mcg vial and up to 3ml needle.
Levodopa is chemically addictive. The longer you are on it, the more you have to take to maintain its effectiveness. The more you have to take, the greater the side effects. So, if can hold off on taking it, you are better off.
How do you feel after a b12 shot? I have b12 deficiency and I want to feel better but I hear people saying you can feel worse before you feel better. My levels are 194 pg/ml
Very low. I recommend you take injections. It really gave me back my energy.
I like this one. Quick and easy.
Hi I was diagnosed with PD 13 ago. And I had DBS. )Deep Brain Stimulation) surgery in 2019. And it’s been okay so far. Because I don’t have tremors at all. I on the opposite side experienced freezing episodes. And have all the other symptoms like constipationv. Sleep problems to name a few
Thank you for this !!
Thank you! Needle and vial looked just like mine. I flubbed and wasted my first solo shot after the nurse discharged me. Not again! I’ll probably watch this next month just to be sure. Zero issues!
Also one mistake keeps forgetting is tightening the luer lok needle or else its gonna leak or turn into a mini biohazard harpon… my cousin forgot to tighten her syringe one time as soon as she pulled it out the needle got stuck on the skin because she didn’t tighten 😂 it was funny but dangerous
I'm T1D but the IM needle definitely gives me the heebie-jeebies. I watch your video every single time I give myself a b12 shot and it really helps. Thank you!
Thank you
Hi and thank you for this. I want to recommend the ProPD app but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. I can't share my results. Any suggestions on how to make it work would be appreciated.
the limit for levodopa per day is 2,000 mg
true!
thank u so much for the video. my husband has PK and have been taking medication. Last night he had too much acid reflex that he could not sleep for 6 hours. But all day today, he has not had shaking at all. So i started to do research and found your video about benefit of acid reflex. thank you. it is true
Glad i watched I've always used my arm and think about 20 times before stabbing myself. Today I did it her way, didn't spll and B12 and did iin the thigh and moved my finger and I didn't even feel the needle go in.. LOVE IT! Thanks!!
Thank you, this was the perfect explanation and demonstration for me
Very informative. I truly appreciate this video.
What size of needle is it?
I was told to inject my arm
Thank you ❤
how many mls are needed
What do you push the whole needle in or just 50% of the needle?
Mediterranean diet basically, higher in fish, healthy veg fruit etc.... stay away from foods that u know will slow u do. Takeaway foods. Eat clean basically. Speak with a dietitian
I stress the importance of sticking to timings. Diet and keeping records. Protein will eventually get eventually you. i find a veg soup helps. Keep Protein to a mini level when taking. Just complete dbs, step 1 surgery and staples are removed out Monday 14th. Programming kicks off 22nd. Hence diet
Thank you so much ! Great video ❤
The eyes scare me👀👀👀👀
I used to inject myself in the buttocks but now Im trying the thigh and Im pretty sure my b12 needle is twice as big as that one
How much dose should we take in a single shot?
My new poem. My philosophy of life is strange. I am alive but I am living without a reason
I'm sorry, but that liquid aspirated into needle and its connection. Therefore, your dosage is already off. To prevent the liquid squirting out, I would prime the plunger a few times prior to connecting with vile. Lastly, I would use the upper arm, opposite of my dominant(obviously) at a 90 degree angle with the needle(no theatrics or distractions) you want to focus completely on what you are doing, and quickly inject then remove needle quickly. Stop saying to use a table to recap then show it being done in a very unsafe manor! You looked clumsy here. Do better if giving scared people advice.
Thank you, so to the point and helpful
Thanks, love from Amman Jordan
These charts present some very interesting information. However, where's the actual scientific data to support all of these claims?
What would happen if you injust to a nerve accidentally?
I give myself weekly injections and watch your video everytime! Thank you!
Can you use insulin syringes? Do they go deep enough?
I am trying to share my reports but i keep getting a message that i need to go to configure to give permission ... How do i fix this?
How often and what are the benefits from it? Thanks in advance
Can I use insulin needle?
can I have some side effect after that?
