    Very good and useful video. I'm wondering if I should buy this particular camera because of the stabilization and the price. Mostly I will shoot videos 2-3 min or maximum 5 min 4K/24-30p. The only thing that worries me is that I will be using it mostly in the tropics (Bali, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia). It's really hot and humid there and I don't know how she would handle the temperature.😉

      Hey! So, for short burst filming it should be fine. Even on hot summer days here, I can count on at least 20 mins of recording without heat warnings. If you're really concerned, buy a clip-on fan for it and it'll cool it off well enough for longer recordings. I bought one for mine and it's been working great! This is the one I use: amzn.to/47Gmy0b

    Can this thing handle 4 hours of streaming (no recording) in 1080p 60 and perhaps even 4k 30 without any tricks? I was considering a fx30 but then I found I could go for full frame paying almost the same price. EDIT: I wrote this as I was watching the video. You actually tested it and only got 1.5 hours at 1080p! Wow that's seems bad (for my purpose)

    Sony ZV-E1 Hello can you please answer my 3 question I would be grateful. 1: at 4k 120 FPS or FHD 240 FPS which stabilizer can you activate? E.g. you can activate the speech stabilizer. 2: Does focus training work at 120 FPS and 240 FPS? 3: at low light is the same as FX3 and A7siii?

    • @KuriosCreative
      @KuriosCreative 15 днів тому

      1. I didn't know there was a speech stabilizer... does that help with stuttering while talking? lol. In terms of other stabilization, the camera defaults to normal stabilization in 120p. 2. Auto focus is great at 120p. I don't think there is 240p on this camera. I've not tried focus tracking at 120 FPS though. 3. Yes. Exactly the same. I've tested both.

    You're one of the few UA-camrs who seem to answer more recent questions. I feel like I find myself apparently in a rare middle space when it comes to use scenario. I'm going to creating basic video content editing with at most two cameras; some light 3d modeling and animation-basically animating simple models on paths, or some simple animatics-and some light AfterEffects comps (animated maps & text, morphing graphcs, etc.). No heavy 3d renders-I have a guy for that, or can take those out to a render farm if I need to-or complex 3d or AE work. But I do tend to multitask quite a bit-Notes, Music, Mail, lots of Chrome tabs-while I work. I absolutely DO NOT want any lagging/buffering when I'm scrubbing through Premiere or Blender (which I'm just starting to learn), or compressing video, etc. I want a desktop, not a laptop, but based on your experience, what combo do you believe would best provide that, with maybe some wiggle room if I get a little deeper into some of that, between an M1 Mac Mini Studio, M2 Pro, or M2 Studio. The base M2 Studio is the absolute top of my budget range and I'd like to avoid it, but if I'm facing needing an M2 Pro w/ 32Gb, I might as well go for the M2 Studio. But I'm wondering if the M1 Mini Studio Max with sufficient memory (which I can get for under $2000 used) would be ample for my needs. Thanks so much for whatever thoughts you're able to share on that. Clint

      Case in point: My wife just found a used M1 Studio Max w/ 32Gb RAM, 2TB drive, for $1500. Is that ample for my use case?

    • @KuriosCreative
      @KuriosCreative 15 днів тому

      Hey! So sorry for the delay. Been a really busy season of life moving and merging my business... My recommendation would be to go with a used M2 Max if you can swing it. The extra GPU cores make a difference... also, go for the max amount of RAM you can afford. While unified memory is great and super fast, the early reviewers were wrong about not needing as much. I've found that with heavy multitasking or editing, I'm happy to have 32GB but wish I had 64GB at times. These days with the M3 series out and M4 around the corner, the prices on the older models are continuing to drop. So it's a great time to be in the market! I will say tho - for 3D work, I am interested in what Apple does with improving raytracing, etc. The M3s now have better raytracing, but still not competing with nVidia. However, I think it's a matter of time before Apple starts making some real strides in that area. We'll see!

      @@KuriosCreative Heh. Yeah, it is, but it worked out all right since I didn't end up buying then anyway. My wife uses her laptop most of the time anyway, so she told me to use her base M2 Mini. Still haven't used it for any of the limited 3D work I mentioned, so that remains a question, but it's handled the Adobe suite projects I've done with zero problem so far while multi-tasking. Granted, they're nothing terribly challenging, but I really wasn't sure how it would do at all with just 16Gb RAM. I agree about the market, with the M3s coming out soon. I should be able to get a souped up M2 Max for a comparative steal by the time I'm actually able to buy. Thanks very much for getting back to me despite the lag. I'll definitely be taking all that into consideration when I do buy. Made sure to hit the subscribe button, too. Great real-world content, which is the best kind.

      @KuriosCreative 5 місяців тому

      Thanks. I ran most of my tests with the camera plugged into a USB-C power source. However, I would say that in a hotter climate, don't count on this camera being reliable and you should probably buy one of those clip-on fans for the ZV-E1 which helps a bit. If long record times in a hot climate are needed - for reliability, you're better with an FX-30 or A7IV in my opinion and they're in a similar price range.

    If we're being objective, most UA-camr tech reviewers aren't really ever doing anything that is that tasking to a machine... I have only one goal- to create very good animation movies. Will mac studio be enough for it?

    • @KuriosCreative
      @KuriosCreative 5 місяців тому

      It depends. Technically, you can make anything on it - however, depending on what you're creating and how resource-intensive it is, the Mac Studio may not be the most powerful thing to accomplish it... However, if your project is not resource-intensive (i.e. not crazy poly counts, a lot of simulations, effects, high-res textures, realistic shading and SSS, etc.), then the Studio might be fine. However, if your project is going to be very resource-intensive to run and render, then a PC build may still be the best bang for the buck. However, I'm interested to see how the M4 line of chips may help the Macs catch up to PC GPUs like the RTX4000 series. The important question to ask is: why do you need a Mac over a PC? I think that if you don't have compelling reasons for choosing Mac over PC in terms of things you can't get on a PC, then you might want to look into the PC option and draw up a comparison in terms of pros and cons before making your decision. Also, remember that "good animated movies" are more about the story and quality of animation. Sometimes people over-focus on having pretty visuals and neglect the core principles.

    Just ordered this camera very excited but nervous I don’t shoot long format content but I do professional work for small business, promo videos for social media typically. Think the overheating with me ok for this kind of work?

      Awesome! Yep - it's been fine for shooting short-form content for me. Typically, if you're recording less than 25-30 mins at a time, you'll hardly have any overheating issues. I've also found that recording short bursts all day on a sunny summer day is fine too. Enjoy the new cam!

      oh 100% - very true. You can tell the difference just between recording in summer vs spring/fall/winter here. If I were recording in a hot climate, I wouldn't count on the ZV-E1 for long recordings at all. But that's why I have different cameras for different needs. You just have to choose the right tool for the job.

  • @ElisVault

    Can someone just say what the solution is? Always having to watch a 20 min video for what could’ve been done in 30 seconds is time consuming

    • @KuriosCreative
      @KuriosCreative 6 місяців тому

      Basically - if you warm up the ZV-E1 by turning it on for about 10-15 mins then giving it a rest for 15 mins before your long-form recording, it seems to be able to stay on longer. However, I wouldn't use this "trick" as a guaranteed way of getting consistent long-form recording out of the ZV-E1, but I have used it multiple times and it seems to give better results than when I just do a recording from a "cold" start. Ultimately though, if you want a reliable camera to do long-form recording, the ZV-E1 is not your camera. Cheers!

    SO it looks like it works on the relative rise in temperature, do you think this will work for Sony A6700 as well? I want to stream for longer durations(2-3 hours outdoors), I have to buy a camera and have come to 2 options A6700 and Canon R8 , what do you think ? temps are arounf 30-35 C

    • @KuriosCreative
      @KuriosCreative 7 місяців тому

      Hey - thanks for the question. I have no experience with using the A6700 - so, I can't tell you from experience. But here are my thoughts having used the ZV-E1, A7III, FX-3, and A7C... 1. You just can't beat a camera with an in-built fan (like the FX-3 or FX-30) for reliability in long recording times at higher temperatures. I'd say that in 30-35C temps, you should not expect the A6700 to reliably run for 2+ hours. It may do it from time to time, but I doubt that you could rely on it. The smaller camera bodies are not as good at dissipating the heat. However, I have found that the larger camera bodies are a lot better with heat. For example - The A7III vs the A7C both have the exact same sensor and internals - but the A7III (even without an internal fan) will reliably run longer than the A7C just because of its bigger body which helps with thermal management. I've not personally used the Canon R8, but I remember when researching whether to buy it a while back I saw that other users were having overheating issues with it also for long recordings outside. So, I'd imagine that it has the same limitations. Here are my recommendations: If you're shooting professional paid work you need to be sure it will not fail - get a camera with a fan. The Sony FX-30 is about the same price as the ZV-E1 and has a fan plus some pro features that the ZV-E1 doesn't have. Yes, it's an APS-C sensor, but that's fine if you have good lighting. Otherwise, the FX-3 is the next option (but a bit more pricey). Otherwise, if those aren't options, I'd go for a bigger body full-frame camera - like the A7III or A7IV and then use an external recorder for long record times in the heat. The truth is, if you want to do pro work, you gotta have pro gear. But if you're doing pro work and getting clients, after a few jobs the gear should start paying for itself. It's an investment. But you know your own situation and budget. Hope that was helpful! 😉 (Feel free to use the affiliate links if you're buying from Amazon... hehe)

    Hey again, I see you use screen tablet external monitor for sculpt . Is there any specific reason for not using I pad. Because I was thinking to invest in that so.

    • @KuriosCreative
      @KuriosCreative 7 місяців тому

      Hey - yes, I use the huion 24 pro. I love it! I've used my iPad Pro sometimes when I'm not at my desk, but the main reasons for me were: ergonomics, responsiveness and screen size. The small screen of the iPad gets really crowded with the ZBrush interface on it. And although it is pretty handy as a mobile solution, it isn't as responsive as my Huion display tablet. Also, having it mounted on an arm makes it really easy to reposition and much better for working on it for a long time without arm fatigue. When you've been doing this work as long as I have, you realize how important ergonomics are for long-term health and happiness! haha.

      @@boganx1291 My everyday setup in my office is with a 24-inch 4K colour-calibrated monitor and the 24-inch Huion display tablet. When I'm on the go, I either use a smaller Wacom tablet (non-display) or the iPad Pro - depending on the work I'm doing. For illustration on the go, I just use the iPad Pro with either Procreate or Adobe Fresco. For 3D work on the go, I actually prefer using the Wacom tablet even though it's not a screen tablet because of the better responsiveness and because the iPad screen is small. Sometimes I use Nomad 3D on my iPad Pro to sketch 3D sculpt ideas then bring it over to ZBrush to finish. But generally speaking, I haven't really used the iPad as much for ZBrush and 3D work in my workflow. It's nice to have as an option though, but realistically, I find it clunky to work on because of the small screen size. Other creators might be fine with it - but for me, I prefer working on a bigger screen. One thing that is nice with the iPad Pro is using it as a second monitor on the go to edit video - I like that as a mobile option since I always struggle with screen real estate on a laptop for video editing. Hope that helps!
