      Thank you so much. I appreciate your comment. It was really a lot of video in this race and a lot of things going on not just in front of me but around me and I had hoped to share some of that with the viewers. My goal and using the 360 camera on top of my helmet was to take advantage of some of theflexibility that a 360 offers. If you are interested in seeing other videos of continuous forward facing race footage, there are many others from that same race that I have also watched and enjoyed!

    Hi guys! Thanks @fusabike for your contribution. I need to replace my seals on my FOX Permormance Elite 36 GRIP2 fork (year 2020 - 29" - 160mm). I would like to try the SKF dual-compound seals which from what I understand do not have flanges. I was reading about the problems with the old UNIOR 1702 model but it seems that the new one (627757 - 36mm) has now been updated and compatible with seals with and without flanges. Also, they have created two distinct versions for 35 and 36mm. Question: have any of you tried this new one model with SKF seals or similar in type? (@whitedragon101 do you have any experience with this?) Thanks for your time! Alex

    I have the Unior and it works just fine. You're right with needing to pay extra attention while installing the seal but personally I'm fine with it. Other than the price I don't want to spend the space to store these monsters. But great information for anyone wanting this information.

    Love to see dogs in the woods but not when they have no trail etiquette ,if your dog is not trained to ride leave it at home ,I ride with a dog that is trained to stay on my back wheel and my back wheel only ,never interfere with other riders ,seems like you spent half your ride dodging dogs or riders with no trail etiquette that stop in the middle of the trail or in front of a feature ,but looks like you had a great ride anyway

    I live in the rockies so lots of climbing would you recommend the Doctahawk over the Rootdown?

    • @fusabike
      @fusabike 2 роки тому

      I have a 2021 Rootdown Ti and this and Personally I’d recommend the Rootdown between the two for all around riding (again, just between these two). The head angle and less front travel would make things more manageable for climbing, especially technical tight climbing situations. That said, you’d get used to either bike, I’m not sure you could go totally wrong with either one of you had to pick a single hardcore hardtail….it’s all in what you’re after in terms of ride experience, and what You prioritize

    Got here by researching the hub on my Farley 9.6. The freewheel blew up on a bike packing trip, ending it. Is this common for Bontrager fat bike hubs? They did a warranty repair but my trust is low. Just spent a lot on the bike - only two months old - so not too keen to pay for a new hub, if I can find one.

    • @fusabike
      @fusabike 2 роки тому

    I used the Shimano Zee levers for this upgrade. Key tip: You don't use the silver square bolt as it doesn't slide into anything. Remove the set screw, slide in the cylinder inside the lever, and and screw back the set screw inside the cylinder. The set screw will tightened at bottom which keeps the cylinder from sliding out. Mount the drop post lever to the cylinder and use the 3mm screw to secure the lever.

    Hi Ryan, Enjoyed both videos on the Doctahawk. I'm contemplating purchasing the Rootdown and I live in MA. I like to know if you ride this bike on regular trails and how it handles. I understand you take it to bike parks and it shines but what about the "Regular" trails. How does it do there with the long front end with its slack geo? Forgive me if you mentioned this in other episodes.

    • @fusabike
      @fusabike 3 роки тому

      Hi Daniel and thank you for your comment. I don’t think I mentioned the rootdown in either of the Doctahawk videos, but I do have a rootdown video on my channel from a few years back that may be interesting, although I do not believe I talked about the ride attributes in that one. To your question, The rootdown is the more sensible bike for our local trails. I ride the doctahawk on local trails and it’s fine, but it’s just more of a handful and needs a little more body English due to its longer wheelbase, 180mm fork and slacker head tube angle. The rootdown is a very capable trail and all mountain hardtail as far as I am concerned. The 160 mmFront paired with 2.5’s or 2.6 with tires is probably all you need and it’s got a shorter rear end which helps with getting around tight corners that we have here in New England. If I was moving from the bike you currently have to one of these chromags, I think the rootdown would be the better choice between the two. either of these would still ride very differently than the bike you are coming from but if I’m honest, if you got the Doctahawk you might feel like you made a mistake going so extreme

    • @danieldoble7674
      @danieldoble7674 3 роки тому

      @@fusabike Thanks for the reply. Just reread my question and it does look like I was asking about the Rootdown when I meant the Doctahawk. Nevertheless, I'm leaning towards the Rootdown thinking the Doctahawk geo may be too much for what I ride.

    Thanks for the video - I was hoping you'd get into the riding feel a little more... I have a firebird too and I'm currently intrigued by the hard tail..... What would you say the different bikes excel at most and can you imagine replacing the firebird or are there things you just would never do on the hard tail? Thanks so much for your time.

    • @fusabike
      @fusabike 3 роки тому

      Hi Next Level Riding and thank you for your comment! I spoke about ride feel, focusing on the climbing capabilities of such a “big bike” in my prior video too, so if you haven’t taken a look at that there may be some useful content there. To compare the Firebird 29 and Doctahawk... Initial response is they have less in common than more. Biggest differentiators other than obvious suspension benefit on Firebird 29 is the carbon vs steel....steel feels livelier and less muted...others might call steel crashy while carbon is refined...Objectively true when you’re comparing one to the other back to back but when you’re on one or the other all day, those comparisons fall away...I’m not thinking about the bike I could be riding, I’m enjoying the bike I *am* riding. So I suppose it’s a mindset thing. Both bikes get in the air really well, with a nod to the Firebird with its rear suspension assist at takeoff. Anything and everything I do on the Firebird I do on the Doctahawk, in fact when I go to to bike parks and ride either the jump lines or the double black diamonds, I take these two bikes! Each delivers a different feel and experience, each frankly overly qualified for the task...I’ll never outride these bikes! I hope that helps!
