What if a person who believes they are doing the best they can do to follow the ways of Jesus, yet simply likes these songs for simply what they are? Songs. nothing more , nothing less. FYI 60 plus year old white guy here. Back in my teenage days , bands like AC/DC, Black Sabbath, The Stones, David Bowie, I kept them at arms length. I was a fan of alternative British rock. Fast forward to old age. I enjoy many of the songs I was wary of in my youth. Like the music, don't be the music.

Regarding 'backwards masking'- how many people have the means to 'reverse' such songs? If it's backwards, doesn't that make the words incomprehensible? I'm showing my age but I can remember the ludicrousl trial of the 'pie and chips' British rock band Judas Priest over claims their songs had 'backwards masking' that led two teenagers to blow each other's brains out. The members of the band played some of their songs backwards and got statements that sounded like: "Hey ma, the chair's broken" Or "Make mines cola" Yeah, really Satanic!! This kind of tosh is the kind of stuff that led to the 'Satanic Panic' in the 1990s! Just as well the overtly pagan and satanic 'Black Metal' is in Norwegian- imagine if you could hear that stuff, folks!

I told a friend about the back-masking on Stairway. He didn't believe me. He owned high-tech recording equipment at the time and so he recorded the song on to a multi-track (tape) machine. He then played tracks 1 and 2 by flipping the tape over and played them backwards on heads 3 and 4. The Satanic verse came out even more clearer than what I had first heard it on the video - "Rock & Roll, A Search For God?" The odds of having a sentence, that is in audible English, form another audible English sentence when played backwards, is billions to one. Ie; It can only be explained as spiritual because coincidence is impossible, it exceeds the 13th power of 10.
