Honda Engine on a Harbor Freight Plate Compactor
I put a Honda GX200 Replacement Engine from a Dewalt Pressure washer I bought off Craigslist for $80 on this Harbor Freight Plate Compactor.

Probably should’ve cleaned that rust off the output shaft before putting the pulley on
That clutch is going to be a bitch to get off if you ever need to. The shaft was dirty, they should slip on easily if they're clean. You can warm the pulley up to make it easier.
Putting a good engine on a pile of shit doesn't change the fact that your using a pile of shit.
Nothing wrong with the compactor. It's a simple as you are.
Don't just change the carburettor. They're a serviceable part. Seals and jets etc are super cheap. They're fairly simple carbs. Plenty of videos on how to clean, rebuild and tune them.
Enjoyed. Thanks for not wasting our time with a lot of foolishness.
This is so cool I am just getting into small engine repair and I was asked to do this very sane thing by a local landscaper, and I will be doing this tomorrow
That's awesome! Good luck
Awesome video! Love the idea
Isn't that the clutch you were hitting that hard ?
wow! you made it look like anyone can do it lol. im planning on buying the compactor tomorrow. hope it lasts longer than 1.5 years. my question is w/ the honda motor- does it run different/ vibrate more, less? run better? etc???
With the Honda engine it runs about the same. It doesn't vibrate or operate any differently.
Whats up man. I have a the same predator compactor as you with bad motor. I have a spare honda gx279cc motor as. Im assuming it should fit on the compactor. The only thing you have to do is take the pulley off the predator and put it on the honda correct?
The GX279 may be a little too large, not sure what the pully and bolt pattern are for that engine, it could be the same. Yes, all I had to do what take the pulley off the predator and put it on the honda!
Great video, can’t wait to try this myself. I love motors
