I’m sorry for being a dick, but I actually find this terribly interesting so I wanted to share In the beta, Miyabi was not Ice Attack, she was just Ice, same as how every other character was just their element, the game’s overall design actually shifted quite significantly from the beta to release and elements didn’t really mean too much. Instead, each character had a damage type that they specialised in, being Pierce, Slash and Strike damage (for reference, they still have these damage types, they just impact very little in the actual game. Billy is Pierce, Anby is Slash and Nicole is Strike), I’m not 100% sure, but I think these damage types reflected enemy weaknesses and resistances in a rock, paper, scissors kinda way, like Machine enemies were weak to Pierce, but strong against Strike, Ethereals were weak to Slash, but strong to Pierce etc. This was back when EVERYONE was a DPS, it’s why every character can be played as a DPS, characters like Soukaku have an element infusion on their weapons baked into their kit despite being a support character Anomaly also didn’t exist in the beta, and parrying attacks to my knowledge also wasn’t, it was just damage, I assume this was changed to spice up the combat a bit cause it looked like it’d be pretty stale if it was just “Oh, here’s a machine, better just shoot it a bunch with Billy” Also, just for fun, the Ether element was also added in very late in development, in its place was the Wind element which, to my knowledge, only had Soukaku
