Smoke Hole Canyon, WV Copperhead Cove Flake under roof next to Drop in the Ocean
Didn't top it out, but enjoyed the climbing. Smoke Hole Canyon, WV with Mike Gray
Sorry for the noise, cliffs are right next to river rapids. Sounds annoying on video but it's mostly soothing in person.

Smoke Hole Canyon with Mike Gray on Mega Beta Belay!

Mike getting the clip and setting up the project. Plenty of good words for something that really yanks. Leave it for a strong pissed off kind of day. It might leave you with something to train for. Thanks to J Feher for seeing this improbable roof and setting it. Climbing in Smoke Hole, WV

With a double roof it's looked like the best option was ground up. There is a third roof that goes another 20ft too. Most of the route looked detached possibly and probably would have if out in the weather. But it held together for an assent and is getting better all the time! Kind of wondered if it was going to get me hurt. Thanks to Mike for the anchors for the accent and also putting some di...

Great route and fun for a warm up with good gear. The bolted line next to it shares anchors. Amazing hand jams and features you'll find in this deep dark corner.

Starts with gear fussing on second pitch. Had previously top roped and knew the moves were possible just hadn't carried gear in to test placements. After placing 3 offset cams (love them!) I returned to the ground for a full go with gear already placed. Next time it's ground up one piece at a time, but with better weather. This was Jan 2 2025 overcast and in the 30s.

Worked on this in the Fall of 2023. The pocket holds are gritty, but some good beta projecting helps get on to the roof and crimps.

Probably overlooked for damp corner issues, but drought has it nice and dry. Please take caution when reaching the ledge! Lean into the right side and keep off the stack of boulders. Estes and the surrounding areas are such amazing places, and this ride was a great way to see them all at once. The tramway takes passengers to the top of Prospect Mountain where there is a short trail to the summit. We also found out that there were some rock cliffs on the west, so we took our climbing gear along.

Nice suggestion to give it a couple burns from Mike Grey with perfect conditions. This climb gets sun during the heat of the day making it too slick I guess. This time out I just warmed up and worked the crimp beta while hanging draws. Third go did the trick! May 30 2024

Amazing 100ft on Rooster. No issues with stuck branches or tangled ropes in the process. This took more time, but was a lot more fun than dragging branches on the steep side of the ridge.

I hiked and climbed and biked and fished and camped Glacier Park for 35+ years. I lost count of how many grizzly encounters I had. Never had to deploy spray. Over 6000 trail miles, over 100 peak summits, dozens upon dozens of nights backcountry camping, and too many days fishing to recount.... And the grizzlies always behaved. Because I took precautions. Made noise. Stopped immediately upon sighting a bear. Spoke in a low calm voice. Never turned and ran ... Love grizzlies. Wonderful animals.
