Sorcery sucks
The foiling will have so many scratches in no time
I bet!
I can't explain how much my nostalgia neurons exploded when I heard that theme song. You had it backwards. In the comics, Special Missions were the one offs and the main series was the ongoing.
Hmmm. I thought Special Missions had a through-line for some reason and the main comic was ongoing but while the ongoing was sort of a b-plot the a-plot was one-off. I guess I'll see you're right when I get the Skybound Kickstarter Omnibuses!
@Brackenberriespvp I'm pretty sure. I'll pull the long box out of the attic and check. I'll let you know.
The GI Joe Role Playing game is the one we all played on the playground when we were 8.
@@wormwood861 ha! Good one
Looks pretty fun even if just for the nostalgia.
@@markgrehan3726 that's how I look at it
I was an investor in the Kickstarter, bought a couple cases of beta and sold singles, kept the foils, and then started my first ever personal collection (across any game) and I love the cards. The chase is fun, and I'm seeing this drop in prices as an opportunity to buy more! I think the overprinting issue is the thing that KILLS games. If they haven't already done so with Sorcery, then we are right on the line of it. There are currently 3 foil Philosopher's Stones on auction on eBay starting at $1.. so that's scary (only 248 in existence)... Is it a lost cause at this point? Maybe. Hopefully not. I've love to see it recover. Simon and their team said 2025 is going to be about doing better to work with stores to promote the game. We'll see what happens! Great video
Thanks! Yeah, they're on a precipice and have to make the right decisions or it could go either way
Sorcery is so cool to open and barely has any eyes on it, I don't think there will be any problems. People are just so traumatized from other tcgs, they panic at any movement. Coming from a European who found this summer print a blessing, and still struggles to find product at reasonable price. This week I bought 2 BB of Beta for 200€ each and 2 BB of AL for a bit over 100€.
It is definitely fun to open!
Harrumph!
Good and refreshing takes that brought back my sanity thanks for that. The reasonable in the community are the ones talking about store adoption and making sure that goes well along with the store making a profit and really discussing the one set a year not being a good model. the one set a year has 0 arguments for it its purely there in my mind for battered mtg players. honestly i think they did it being opportunistic instead of thinking through the business model since at the time magic was pumping product. we are screwed if investor bros lead a lot of these conversations or in general the idiotic people amongst us instead of reasonable and rational players/collectors and stores. Speaking as player, collector, and as someone not emotionally as invested, if the game dies thats sad but i have the cards and i dont care about the money. Investors have 0 right to moan i think when: there's curios and foils, the reprint is justified, and ec doesnt go wild at the printer. Their cards and boxes will go nowhere without more players and more demand which stores are essential in as well, plain and simple. Also haha i totally get the checking out thing you mentioned, i did that for a bit because its honestly just tiring since the reasonable and objective opinion on these topics every time it comes up has always been the same. its pretty easy to see card games are a symbiotic relationship between everyone on the Venn diagram, its also a lot more nuanced than investor bros or people that want cards to be all 5 cents will constantly yap about over and over in the discords and facebook. In my mind the game will be considered in a good state when each group is satisfied to certain extent: players can make decks that don't cost $500-1000 just to be competitive and not constantly re spending that money because of bans, breakneck product releases etc. Collectors have chase cards and rare cards with a certain level of trust and confidence they will retain value (value in other ways not just purely monetary) and stores can sell the product at a profit without dumping at the cost of hurting the community. more store involvement is more eyeballs and hands on for the product thus increasing demand and players. also to be frank i find it harder to compromise with even taking the investor side seriously, some honestly need to grow up and invest in actual investments at the end of the day. I care mostly about players, stores, and collectors. some of these people legit think they are gonna retire off cardboard and want it to happen within 1 year flipping boxes at 2-5k, its beyond delusional, and just in general ignorant to think youll be at 30 year old magic box prices within 5 years or that its analogous at all. its gonna be decades aka a stupid investment unless you're gonna make an insane amount to justify having dead money (boxes) for 10+ years in a closet if it even happens.
Thanks. Yes, I agree, many people are overly emotional and a little too involved with the day-to-day. I always prefer to be as reasonable as I can be and avoid being delusional. Except my day-dreaming delusions of grandeur of course ;)
Looks like you have to play a few games to catch on. Good game!
I think it can feel a little overwhelming at first.
Great job guys!
Looks like you have to play a few games to catch on. Good game!
In the early 2000’s would have been my direct time as being a teenager. The big change away from cardboard games that I noticed was the rapid rise of online gaming. Home computers. PS2 online and Xbox live. These really came to life and started grasping a lot of people attention. Between all ages, maybe this was the decline of board games and tabletops at the time, but the lack of in person interaction now has really brought to life a new area of people begging to play games together again!
Those are good points. The people I know certainly did increase their playing of video games. Especially after World of Warcraft came out.
This is a breath of fresh air.. I feel for store owners for sure, it is a difficult situation to navigate with the single release per year like you said. I also think these so called "investors" need to calm down a bit. 5 years from now if Sorcery is still around, people will beg to buy a Beta box under 170, or an AL box at 90. We are so early it's actually funny.. Imagine people crying about an Arabian Nights box being under 100.. Seems a tad unhinged to me.
Sounds about right.
my boy
Prince Distribution is absolute garbage. EC needs to find another Canadian one to handle the region. I don't know of a single store that is happy with them.
@@Dstinct I can understand why other stores might feel that way.
For all the talk about chapters... Can you put CHAPTERS in your video? Other than that, you are a good speaker and very informative.
Haha. Thanks. I don't have the option to put chapters in. UA-cam automates that feature
This guy who has never played in a protour is full of quack - this is a good thing - f'd the scalpers. He is old enough to be revolutionary and delusional
I mean... Yeah, you did state some real facts. Never played a pro tour. I am old. Enough to be revolutionary? I dunno, lots of people have been as old as me, I'm not reinventing the wheel. Delusional? Who knows? Crying skull? Spot on
Revolutionary?
@@Themartialartistshow viva la old guy!
This deck box has been great! Thanks to you guys for helping me choose a proper deck box that fits my needs
I'm glad I had the bright idea to open a bunch of supplies so we can all evaluate them!
No Curio looking bro? Love to see Alpha getting ripped. Surprised your just throwing the hit cards around and taking better care of the bulk. LOL! Keep em coming! Great game and very fun to play!
I'm a bit of a barbarian!
It doesn't fill any niche in TCGs. Its just a low rent higher complexity Magic clone.
I'm not even sure it's more complex. Filling a niche is just a corporate catch-phrase that likely means nothing, like most corporate talk. All that really matters is do people like it enough to purchase it for the price it sells for on the market? As long as that remains true, there's no such thing as a niche.
Great pulls…awesome box 🎉❤🎉
Thanks!
The negative comments are from magic fans who are upset their game has SpongeBob and Spiderman now, and all the original artists flocked over to work on Sorcery. Best TCG right now hands down, keep it up!
I don't play Magic and this is a ridiculous slow motion scam of a product lol
Possibly a few of them are
@@spamtonto why is everything new a scam? New products have always come out and they either succeed or fail. That doesn't make either the successes or failures a scam. It just means that the manufacturers and the market either agree or disagree on a product viability. There's no definitive evidence you can point to that proves that Sorcery is going to fail or succeed. But it doesn't really matter either way. I'm just curious why someone would care enough to post on the internet that it's a scam. What's the motivation behind it?
@@spamtonto ahh, a Lorcana player then! Whatever you say, boss 👍

Nice upload! Continue with more sorcery content like this! I’m happy to see opening videos which shows people enjoy opening packs - in line with what EC hope to achieve

Will do!
Awesome alpha opening.
Thanks!
Sweet! Love this TCG

Best new game! Totally taking over the scene in some areas! All the people smart enough ti play it love it! 😂
We love it too!
Some areas being the sorcery discord you're in? 😂
@@spamtonto There are a few small groups in disparate areas in North America that exclusively play this game, but it certainly hasn't eclipsed anything or caught the notice of the mainstream, even within the gaming community.
Two of my local game stores already pulled this product due to lack of interest. The other 5 stores never carried it in the first place.
Ya'lls loss, game is growing rapidly a lot of places 🤷🏼♂️ and extremely fun to play.
That can happen. We bought product last year that a store returned to our distributor, we sold it days later. It all depends on how much effort you want to put into the community
amazing game that will be joining the big three very soon
Let's hope!
lol no
@@spamtonto it is an uphill battle and nothing suggests it will even get into the top 5, let alone 3. But enthusiasts for the game can hope it catches on even if we know that MtG, Pokemon and Yugioh are firmly entrenched.
Dont listen to the comments man 💓 love the game, love the community. Keep up the good work
Thanks!
Looks like a cool game, love the art! I've seen a bunch of people playing locally as a second game after Magic, I should probably check it out a bit more.
See if your local has some starter decks to try, or jump right into a draft!
garbage game that isn't worth the carboard it's printed on...
Lots of people seem to love the game. I'm not sure how one would calculate the cost to print vs the value of the game
What an odd response???
Unfortunate that you feel this way. Sorcery is really a great game with engaging community
Imo it’s an incredible game. Something truly special.
Another game that will be out of business in a few years. Fools and their money 😅
I guess we'll have to come back to this in 2027 to see if you're right or not. But I'm going to say you're probably wrong. Not sure what fools and their money means. Because even if the game somehow disappears in your timeframe, it's still fun and players still have their cards. They don't come to your house and take them away when the company closes up.
Hope you're wrong 😁
Not just wrong, but butthurt wrong. Say "I can't afford alpha" but with many, many more words! 😂
Sorry that you can’t experience awesomeness of the game
@@ethercept I didn't become a millionaire by ripping open depreciating pieces of cardboard 🤣😬
I like the way the sunlight causes tiny lens flares, are that sparkly in real life? And I agree, a basic dice set should have 3d6, and I'd say a specific D&D RPG set should also include 2d20 standard.
That happened under direct sunlight on a very bright morning. Once they were out of direct sunlight, the effect went away. So, under the right conditions, they are sparkly. I think these were meant to evoke the first D&D sets which only had 7 dice, but still extra dice would have been nice
Most sirs are elite level rarity. I believe there are only four that are true unique. You can tell by the elemental threshold. If they have two elements and two threshold of each element those are the true unique. For example fire fire water water. Or air air earth earth.
Aha! Thanks for the information!
Turned out really good!
Definitely did. It almost looked like we were in Florida with that sunlight!
So now magic is going to be like politics and split 5050 people who follow the band list and people who don't acknowledge it, great humanities just doing fantastic let's move on to the next subject that we can split everybody and make everybody fight over lol, people just need to move on and stop getting mad over their expensive cards or how much money they lost, you want to invest in something magic that's almost guaranteed you got the reserve list anything else is not guaranteed it could be banned at any moment or another car could be printed that will take its place.............
except in this case, the division doesn't matter, because it's just over a game
Common = White Uncommon = Green Silver = Rare Gold = Super Rare Bronze = Chase Green Ring = Prime You got 2 Super Rares (Rip Hunter and Green Lantern), 2 Rare Primes (Etrigan and Reverse-Flash). The Big figure (Flashraptor) isn't considered a Chase in this set. Unfortunately you didn't pull a Chase. This was actually the same brick as one of the ones I got from Wizkids. The two Rare Primes you pulled are still very good pieces. There is never a guarantee that you will get a Chase or Prime in a brick but more often than not, there will be at least one or the other along with 3 Super Rares although this set has typically only been yielding 2 Super Rares (perhaps because there are only 8 normal boosters vs the typical 10 boosters).
Thanks for the info. You really got a brick with the same pulls as us?
@@Brackenberriespvp No problem! Yeah. There are always bricks/cases with the same build/pulls each set. Sometimes there is a slight variance in the build but yeah it’s sometimes easy to know what is going to get pulled based off what has already been pulled.
@@DBlock2012 I realized the word I was looking for was Prime, but it took a few hours after making the video to come back to me. Do you know this because you've done a lot of sealed events?
@@Brackenberriespvp lol yeah that happens to me all the time. I’ll be trying to remember something only to finally remember it later. Yes and I typically buy 2-3 cases per set and watch lots of unboxing videos of each set and it’s easy to see patterns/pre-configured brick builds. I mean it makes sense that at the factory level where they are packing boosters and bricks that they may have a predetermined order/set of figures that are going to go in a brick. I also have had the unfortunate luck of getting the same exact cases when buying 2 cases from my LGS. This isn’t the LGS’ fault but the unfortunate distribution from the distributor. Apparently this is something WizKids is trying to work on. Now when I buy from my LGS the owner will make sure to give me cases from 2 different grouped bundles (my LGS typically orders about 6-8 cases and these cases are typically delivered as 2 cases taped together so the owner will cut these apart since sometimes these 2 taped together cases are identical cases).
@@DBlock2012 Good to know. So far, I've only been getting 1-5 cases.
I don't think its the difficulty that's the issue its the difficulty finding stores that sell them . In the UK its extremely hard. Small player base as well. Its a great game i prefer it over warhammer . I think in order for it to grow it needs more exposure some investment into more advertisement and to introduce the a real rulebook when you buy a starter set rather then just the PAC. I asked some of my friends what the issue is they have with getting into it rather then another game like crisis protocol and they stated that its the quality of the miniature they are getting better now would be better if they didn't ready paint them so players could but then again some people would rather not paint it . The other issue is lack of missions or objectives in the game . I think a mission pack every year or few years rather then this extensive rotation would make it more popular.
I think these are all things Wizkids definitely need to work on. The mission stuff is a good idea. Something along the lines of the Living Campaigns from D&D that I outlined in my old History and D&D podcast would be an interesting direction to take it.
@@Brackenberriespvp That would be much better. I tried doing some recordings of my games please check them out on my channel.
Whose excited for the new spiderman set?
@ardam111 I'm always excited for new sets. What's this new Spider-Man set all about? What's it called?
@Brackenberriespvp spider-verse. There's a teaser video on UA-cam already, shows spiderman as a t-rex and him holding the infinity guatlet. Scheduled for 1st quarter of 2025. Definitely more excited about that then The black panther set
@@ardam111 that sounds super cool!
Yu-Gi-Oh! FACTS: Seto Kaiba Is Based On A Real Person. Manga creator Kazuki Takahashi had a friend who was into collectable card games. This friend introduced him to another player, and asked him to teach Takahashi how to play the game. The player refused, and told him to come back after he had collected ten thousand cards!
@thechrismckenna haha! Thanks for that!
Hey if you don't want that robin hood and queens castle Ill take em off your hands :)
Haha, they are still in store if you're anywhere near Alliston Ontario. We usually sell around TCGplayer price
The hole is simply to pull the binder out of the slipcase with your finger while it is upright so that the slipcase remains on the shelf while you use the binder.
Thanks for the info!
Heroclix the game and playing "casual" are fine. Fun even. But this isn't a casual game, this is highly competitive. That being said, if you haven't been consistently buying all the product since day one, and you haven't pulled at least a Konshu a Chthon and an Ammit, you are too far behind and don't have the right clix to compete.
It's a casual game that has enough complexity to the rules that there's an organized competitive scene around it. But most people can get by with a few boosters here and there, just like every other collectible game. The only barrier to entry is the ruleset. But it's easy to overcome
Good luck with the tournament man hope you have a lot of people show up :)
Thanks, man. So do I!
What's your favourite rant? What would recommend as your favourite classic Rudy video?
I'd say the one earlier in the year when he got in trouble from Legend Story Studios for complaining about Flesh and Blood print runs
Once a year is good enough for me...i love the handmade art and that needs time for good work...i could vomit when i think about the way magic or other Tcg's go....love sorcery and their way they go ❤
I think it's entirely possible to take the time to have great art on multiple sets a year by having multiple groups of employees dedicating to the sets in the same way they do now.
😍😍
