Jessica McGovern: Finding Purpose Through Photography and Animals
Send us a text (www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2199280/open_sms)
Jessica McGovern started getting involved with photography at the age of 14 as a way to channel her emotions and find her place in the world. She was drawn to photography because it allowed her to use her hands and her brain, and it provided a physical and mental outlet. Jess started teaching photography organically, answering questions and sharing her knowledge in online communities. She also began teaching in-person workshops and offering one-on-one mentoring.
Jessica has won numerous accolades for her photography, which has helped boost her confidence and establish her credibility in the industry. However, she acknowledges the pressure and potential negative impact of competitions on mental health and advises photographers to seek feedback and take breaks when needed. Jess McGovern shares her personal experiences with miscarriage and her journey in photography. She discusses the challenges she faced, the importance of communication with clients, and the different camera systems for animal photography. She also talks about the Tog Spot community and the benefits of working with dogs and horses.

Good interview
Thank you, it’s good to know you enjoyed it.
the background maybe natural but the fritillary has been placed 101% certain
It was a good, honest story. It helps others. Thank you
Cracking images.. Really lovely...
Very cool!
16:17 Hamburg? Lüge nicht! Das ist Stuttgarter Flughafen mit dem Bosch Parkhaus.🫣🧐🫣
Awesome. You have invested a lot of time in your photography. How fabulous to have achieved capturing these images
Thank you so much Tesni and Angela. 😀I love these podcasts! I so enjoy watching and photographing local brown hares and deer but was in Puffin Paradise on Lunga & Skomer! Really looking forward to the Masai Mara next year! Wildlife is so wonderful wherever it is! 😍📷
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoy the podcasts!
Fantastic Presentation 👌👌Quite Inspiring and informative indeed.
Glad you liked it!
Awesome editing
Thanks 🤗
Great presentation, thank you Molly/SheClicks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely selling the experience!
Thanks
You guys are crazy as I am I just love this, crack on mate
That’s it? A turning camera?
Which is your best suggestion to make bird or wildlife amateur photography in low light conditions? Please recommend
I (a men) like it to. If that's oke... 😊
That’s fine. Thanks very much.
Can't see the video.
Szuper beszélgetés!
Excellent! I bought a used bride camera with 50x optical zoom for $200. For that price, I take it everywhere and thus get wildlife shots I might not get if I was concerned about rain/mud/dust, etc. The one drawback is fastest shutters speed is only 1/1700 second, 16mb photos, 50X optical about 1200mm focal length, continuous autofocus, burst of 5 high res photos per second, etc.
Great video
Amazing ! So inspiring , thanks for bringing her ❤
Wonderfull ICM images
With respect to achieving longer shutter speeds I shoo OM 1 Mark 11 camera and it has a feature which is called ND filters and does not require glass filters and achieves longer shutter speeds. That’s what I use in difficult conditions
Such an excellent video. It has inspired me to have a try at making my own textures and adding them to enhance other photographs i have taken. Thank you Jane.
That was fantastic. I really struggle with creativity. Some fantastic ideas for me to move my work forward. Thank you Glynes and Angela
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
Another wonderful, fun interview.
Thank you! Glad you enjoy them.
Looks fascinating... wish I could understand what's being said... the audio is awful...
I live in Michigan. Do you give in-person lessons.?
Wonderful video. I've watched this three times over the last couple of years - and will likely do again. Thank you for this video and ALL the SheClicks videos; they're so helpful.
Fantastic podcast, Rachael is a wonderful photographer.
Thank you! She’s fabulous!
Incomplete about Olympus because it does not speak about the trikky parameters like Timer Bulb/Time, Live Composite, Live Bulb and Live Time. Also incomplete do not speak about Starry AF which is an important feature for Star photography. Too long video because it speak only about Light Painting after 42 minutes and the video is lasting 1H23 !!
Why ICM photographs look similar? I can't distinguish between different photographers.
So to be clear on the first shot we manually set out exposure. For what is not moving and then press the shutter again and it will do the rest in camera, thanks for helping us photographers
🤩
Very informative - really enjoyed it.
Great podcast. Always enjoy listening to Margaret and love her water photography
Yes, I enjoyed it!
Great video, love all the examples and additional info
Nice video. i got back into photography several years ago from my start in film in the 1970s. Now I have all formats from Bridge to FF. My first digital was APSc, my 2nd is a bridge camera, B700. The 60x zoom is incredible and very versatile. I also have a ZS60 small sensor super zoom, smaller lighter but only 30x zoom.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch, but it's not something I am looking at right now.
The most informative UA-cam tutorial for ICM and the kind of tutorial if not better to the ones in uni! It went beyond technique but explained the emotive art behind it in order to understand why to use certain movements within the technique of ICM👏👏 Thank you!!
Thanks for your lovely comment.
Absolutely stunning wildlife photography - Rachel is a rare talent!
Appreciate you mentioning the bridge camera. For a long time I felt like a loser because all I had was my sony dsc-h400, it forced me to realise that old clIche "it's not the camera it's the......"
Listened to this on Spotify and loved her advice!
Love this, thank you. We have Molly's book. Very helpful, still reading from it and learning. I don't see the link for the light box mentioned by Molly. Does anyone have it?
Beautifull ❤
Wow,love to see the good works.
thank you for great video I am just pondering to the reason why your video did not highlight what I believe is the undisputed best bridge camera - ok maybe because it not 2023 model ? the Panasonic Lumix FZ 300/330 price wise - not the most low priced but far from the most costly one of thee only bridge cameras that is weather sealed one of the only to have a constant fast aperture (F2.8) throughout entire zoom which helps minimize hiccups in low light since it is a small sensor size although the wise 12mpix means the actual pixels are larger (compared to if it had 13-14 or more m pixels) to ensure better low light photos well I am just soo very happy with my camera :-)
Thanks for this, great overview and appreciated the examples (Both photos and camera’s themselves). Looked at a used Rx10iv and thought it was great, but perhaps a bit too bulky for my use (hiking and backpacking) I suspect…would end up with less use sadly. pan FZ 80/82 surprisingly looked quite good here, though perhaps a bit less IQ that the Sony, as did the Pan 330. Curious what you tend to use most often? For me: trying to get some wildlife photos on my trips, often best early in day so not always the best light and the occasional zoom into a mountain feature far off in distance.
Excellent video!! Thanks for posting. I've been considering all the cameras in your video. Well, as of this morning I ordered a Lumix FZ1000 ii. I bought it primarily for a 4-week trip next year to South Africa instead of taking my Sony A68 with various lenses.
Thanks for commenting. Glad you liked the video. Enjoy your new camera!
