Boy went and treated himself to a 1 to 1 look and learn with O.P Educator Tony Forrest, held at the Josh O.P barber academy in Stourbridge, England, UK.
Tony walked me through the theory of the D.F.S formula and how this relates to barbering. The D.F.S formula is an acronym coined by barber Josh O.P, and the concepts I was taught simplified the way I now cut hair.
In this intensive day session, I learned about what's commonly referred to in the industry as "line theory", which every hair cut is comprised of. I was re-introduced to the idea of "core shapes" which are what most men's haircuts are based on.
In this 20 minute video, Tony shares a review of a square layered haircut which we did just prior to filming. He then showed me how to create a combination of triangular, round and square cutting lines, forming a classic pompadour style.
