Most of the time, even though it’s risky discarding your hand at the end step, you still have your commander on curve. So your commander becomes “Draw 2 cards” and the chain begins. Put down a couple lands, keep the ball rolling. If you don’t win the game, Xyris will draw you three cards on the next turn. That’s why I like it in this deck. I’ve also seen it in Dargo/Thrasios builds that focus on looping Dargo to draw their library. The big problem is when you discard your hand because that means you can’t interact with your opponents. Sometimes you get really far and aren’t able to cast the thing that would keep the ball rolling, but that’s just the nature of such a high risk, high reward card. The ceiling is “I win the game when it resolves.” The floor is “I can’t do anything, there go my cards, pray I draw something I can cast next turn. Hopefully the game doesn’t end before I can start the chain”

@@CallMeCommanderMTG It's not a true group hug deck, but I rely on Howling Mine effects and cards like Prosperity over wheels, which can be spun as politically group huglike. Unfortunately I haven't gotten a chance to test the deck out, but Esix, Fractal Bloom with a kraken from Ominous Seas has me very excited.

Thanks for sharing! I love the concept. There was a point where I believed that Tayam could be that “set mechanic” commander. Doesn’t matter what set it is, you could effectively build a Tayam deck around whatever mechanics existed in GBW. To this day, a very underrated commander!

Korvold is one card I look at and think, “how did this ever make it past concept?” I do agree. There were bound to be some older cards that happened to become stronger with the introduction of treasures, but WotC really doubled down with some of their newer releases. Thanks for the comment!

Hey! Thanks for the comment and for your feedback! I do believe that all you need to play at a cEDH level is the mentality of a competitor. Cost should not be a prohibitive factor in keeping players away from the format, seeing as the cEDH community is very accepting of proxies. There isn’t going to be a more understanding player than the one who purchased all of the cards, knowing how expensive it truly can be. mpcfill.com is a great, cheap website to have proxies made. They also have fan art options for favorite cards too, so it can add a little flavor to your deck. If you’re looking for something that is going to look and feel a little more real, proxyking.biz is going to be the route you’ll want to go! I hope this was more helpful than the video!

If you're not looking to spend dumb amounts of money for cards, there's always budget builds out there that can compete with the usual cedh decks. I personally think playing STAX might be helpful on a budget, especially Rule of Law/ thorn STAX since you're slowing everyone down to your speed.

I found the ruling here for reference: mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Color_identity The TL:DR of the whole thing is that with Extort specifically, the mana symbol is included in the reminder text - not in the rules text - therefore it doesn’t contribute to the card’s color identity. Any commander with white in its identity - regardless of having black or not - can play Blind Obedience. I hope that’s helpful!

Hey! Glad to have inspired you!! It's such a fun variant because you can never really whiff on an activation! Getting value from something you're already supposed to be doing throughout the game is my favorite way to play. I've been too proud of my foil copy of Dauntless Escort to slot it out for the more efficient protection (like Selfless Spirit).. And Selfless Spirit is just a wayyyyy better target for #renegaderallier. Honestly, Renegade Rallier might as well be the hidden commander here, because it just does everything you'd want it to. I'm not too keen on Guardian of Faith because I wouldn't have any control over when my field would return, but it definitely caught my attention when it was announced. Overall, I wouldn't take the Flawless Maneuver out in favor of those options, BUT I would find room for additional protection and keep Flawless Maneuver as well. For me, it comes down to having an option to save my board when my back is against the wall. If I've spun the Enigma Machine and failed to find protection on a permanent, then Flawless Maneuver is there to catch me when I do fail. Hope this was helpful! Thanks for the comment!!

DUDE! Thanks for the heads up! I just went and scoured the rule book to see that you were right!! Hapatra was the first deck I ever built after jumping from Standard to Commander. The SBA ruling requires you to have a target (for Blowfly) before the snake is generated, so the snake that Hapatra creates can't be the target. Hey! Great question! That’s a common mistake, actually! Blue-Eyes White Dragon goes in your Clash Royale deck, costs 9 elixir, and attacks ground and air units, but doesn’t attack buildings. It can fly over the moat and has the same range as a Musketeer. /s Thanks for the comment! 👍

Absolutely LOVE Lurrus in the 99, but I haven’t tech’d in a Throne of Geth before.. Hmm. I love the idea of sacrificing it repeatedly over the course of a turn and grabbing it back with Renegade Rallier to boost the number of counters on creatures in a pinch.. Also, a really great win condition in infect variants that use Ichor Rats. That’s great food for thought! Thanks for the comment!!

That’s why I couldn’t find it - it’s the reverse side of Egon! I thought Throne of Death might have been a typo; that’s my bad! Thank you for correcting me! Egon is a possible target for Tayam, but you wouldn’t be able to grab the Throne (AKA the better side that I would totally play) from the grave with Tayam’s ability - which makes me sad af 😩 And at the end of the day, Egon hurts your grave because of his mandatory effect. Gah, I really wish the Throne of Death was its own separate card! It’s a great one-drop, but you’d want to draw it reliably in your first hand to get an advantage.

And now I understand the mention of Lurrus! Because you would be able to cast the Throne using Lurrus’ ability. Hmm.. It could be spicy 🥵
