Berryman Chem Dip Review - how to clean pistons
I have never used this product from Berryman, but wanted to give it a try. It is a tad expensive and my hope is you will get a feeling of whether you like it or not before you buy it.

Hello you and I have the same Noco Genpro charger could you please show me or send me information on how I can shut off the lithium batteries from charging thanks Ed
@@edwardmarshall8795 the charger I have is a three bank charger and I just leave mine on the lithium setting and then just plug and unplug the charger as needed. I added this charger port on my boat to make it easy to plug in without unlocking the battery locker area on the boat. But I also thought they simply had an Off button? Does each bank on yours not have like Off, 12v AGM, Lithium, and repair?
@@edwardmarshall8795 do your Lithium batteries have a BMS?
@ where is the off button on the Noco charger I also have the Genpro 10x3 is it a shut off button for the lithium batteries or the standby mode
@ each bank has a single button and i thought if you press it, that bank switches between modes and then goes back to an orange light which is essentially off. I haven’t looked at mine in a while but can check it tomorrow. Haven’t looked at it in quite a while
Yes my lithium batteries have BMS and they are heated Epoch lithium batteries
Awesome video. I have the same 115 ProXs motor. I see you have a Noco battery charger. Do you just fully charge the LiFePO4 caranking & trolling motor batteries when needed or is this only for tye trolling motor batteries? I guess I'm asking if the 115 Motor is the only thing charging your cranking battery? Or if you needed to add anything? Thanks
@@MatthewsFabrication hey there!! I use the Noco on all three of batteries, cranking and trolling. Here is the coolest thing… I don’t even plug up the charger unless I am down below 60 percent or less. Once in a while I’ll go down around 30%. It has been great so far!
@PaulsOutdoorAcademy I'm the same way with my 36v LiFePO4 trolling motor battery. I only charge it once it's lower. I have the Epoch battery & their recommend charger. So do you have your motor charge all three batteries or just the cranking battery? So the cranking could be down to say 50% & the trolling motor batteries down to say 30% & you'll charge all to 100%.
@MatthewsFabrication oh I see what you mean. I only use the motor to charge the crank battery. Interestingly, they all seem to run down at the same rate. I have never them be completely off before. Like crank at 80% and troller batteries at 40%. They are usually very close
@@PaulsOutdoorAcademy Very interesting. I use my boat motor about 10% of the time & my Trolling motor 90% of the time, but I guess it's 12v vs 36v 100Ah LiFePO4 & about to be the 12v 120Ah cranking LiFePO4 battery. Can't wait
@@MatthewsFabrication sounds awesome!!!!!
Excellent, one of the best explanations that I see.
@@josedeleon9566 thank you so so much!
I love this design! And need to build build a similar structure 6' wide by 10' long. My biggest struggle is figuring out what to use to support the ends. I think I read in a comment below that you did use concrete to lay the ends, is that correct? So did you just pour the corners, or where each stringer rests? And did you ultimately anchor the ends into the concrete? How thick was the concrete base? I've seen other videos on youTube in which the builder rested a log or even an 8x8 on a gravel base for the ends, which is also puzzling and doesn't seem it would last over time. Thanks for any reply.
@@RobertoCompana hey there! i’m glad you like it. I used a shovel and some other tools to dig out rectangles on both sides of the creek. I then took concrete in a bag, like QuickCrete, and poured a couple of bags on both sides. I didn’t even mix it with water because I knew it would get watered, fairly quickly and harden on its own. I don’t think it was even 2 inches thick. To me it was just a barrier between the dirt and the treated lumber and made it a little easier to level out the bridge on both sides. The heaviest thing I’ve taken across the bridge was about 1800 pounds and it handled that like it was nothing. I did not attach the ledger boards on either side. It doesn’t budge at all
@@PaulsOutdoorAcademy Thanks so much, helps a ton! I like the simplicity.
@RobertoCompana you are certainly welcome 🙂
do you think the chem dip affects the lubrication within pin? i just dipped mine and a bit worried it my seize up or something.
@@Pengquian when I finished mine I put oil all over them and let them sit until they were ready for install. There is a product Lucas makes called Assembly Lube and it is crazy sticky and seems very oily for lack of a better word. You could put that or regular oil all around the pin. I hope to turn over the motor TODAY in fact. Fingers crossed 👍
If LFP cells are below freezing temps, they can be damaged if you attempt to charge them. You can discharge them below freezing but not charge them. I use LFPs with a low temp cut off that won't take a charge until the cells warm up to above freezing. Some LFPs come with built in heaters too. Great video for the average consumer! Also, not sure if I missed it, but LFPs can take such high sustained charge rates that they can burn up alternators (not the other way around), especially at low RPMs where the alternator fan isn't spinning fast enough to radiate out the heat. Those are my only two helpful tips to add.
@@derricklaw1 thank you! I will see if my charger does that by any chance. Sounds like a great safety feature 😃
@@PaulsOutdoorAcademyLow temp cut off is an extra probe that’s a built in feature of the BMS, like the high temp cut off. Should be listed as on your battery if you have it. 👍 Probably not really a concern for boaters anyway, especially if your batteries are stored in a well insulated box and you’re not starting in the dead of winter when being stored outside.
@@derricklaw1 I have the ionic 125 dual purpose as my cranking. I just checked and it does have that protection. Anything below 24 degrees and it won’t take a charge. Yayyyy!!!
Paul: Most 5 lug hubs indicate a 3,500 pound capacity axle that is standard on most motorized boat trailers. Since your existing axle tag did not show the weight capacity, you possibly could have called the manufacturer. Buyers are very leery of buying any small trailer that uses the 4 lug lightweight axles. Your spindle and hub damage was probably from the failure of one of the bearings. Usually they fail because owners don’t repack the bearings yearly or before they become dry. A grease Zert on the outside of some hub’s grease cap does not grease the bearings until the hollow portion of the hub completely fills with grease. That means it takes almost 1/2 tube of a regular grease gun tube of grease inside each tub. We recommend hand repacking trailer hubs every winter if they are frequently used. 5 bolt hubs are usually 3,500 pound axles. Your axle fabricator could have replaced the spindle, hub and bearings and you should have been fine with the same capacity as your new square tube axle. Round tube axles are generally heavier duty. Inexpensive Trailer axles are Made In China. Paul’s existing axle and new axle are both better quality. I often help motorists with trailer axle damage. The majority are using Made In China axles. I Loved Your Video! I recommend it to people that have damaged axles to watch. Patrick Perry Salt Lake City
@@patrickperry4533 I really appreciate your comments and the recommendations. The tag on my boat trailer indicated the 2000lb so I thought it probably was. These were The Vault and I tried to repack the one that failed previously but oh my goodness did i not do a good job hahahaha. Thank you again

@@MrFishhook let me check… one sec. You can usually look for specs on the manufacturer website, or, another way is to remove your cowling and see if you have a belt drive for the alternator. Pretty sure you have stator but will check. BRB

5:05 that's what iwas told at the local boat show. Stator charge, NO LITHIUM'. What I did for a second lead battery charging, was install a second regulator (diode pack) in parallel with the original regulator. 2 boats since 1985, never had a problem.
Wow that is a long time of success! I can only speak for the short time I have had my boat, but so, the lithium ionic is working really well
What about a 7 way trailer to a 4 way truck.
@@morrisw7227 should be very easy. Right turn/stop wire to green on the four pin. left turn/stop to Yellow, running lights on trailer to brown on four way. The ground should still be white on trailer to white on the four way pin. Terminate black, blue, red and purple on 7 way as you won’t use them.
This is for standard trailer wiring, automotive standard. If your trailer does not use this and instead uses RV standard, the colors are different

Well here’s my thoughts. For what it’s worth. Seeing how jump packs are made with lithium batteries and used to jump off your car or truck I’m quite sure it will be ok to use your lithium trolling motor battery to jump your starting battery. So long as it’s a 12v system not 24 volt.
