Working Smarter Every Day - Sound Advice 22
Not often do I remove speakers I install. In todays Sound Advice, I use the an overlooked tool in my tool box to safely lower a 66 pound speaker so it can be moved to its new location. The cable grip is the right tool for this job. Thanks for watching!

Every install has it's unique set of challenges. At this church, we had to replace the wire before we could install the new floor monitors. Enjoy!!
God of Wonder
Переглядів 3388 місяців тому
Every year, our church and college choirs and orchestras combine to present the Christmas story in music and song. This year's church theme was Stand in Awe of Him. On December 3rd, they sang a cantata entitled "Wonder & Awe". This piece, "God of Wonder", was the final song presented. Enjoy this look at all that takes place to make this a success.

Every sound system install is unique. And when your install is in a 117 year old building, there are new set of challenges. Enjoy watching as I figure out how to install the speakers and hide the wires so this sound system install is a work of art, not an eye sore.

The Ultimate Tone and Probe Kit - Sound Advice 13
Seems like they’ve come a long way in twenty years. It used to be pink noise so much that bars would kick you out of the venue trying to make it work. It was unusable. Also, in a regular venue, is background noise a problem since in your quiet shop a simple fan was too much for the venue 360?
Hi I have the Ashly 1310 equalizer, and the signal button is always lit up green should I hook this up to my system or is there something wrong with the unit. Just curious if you know anything about my problem if not thanks for the video!
essa conexao input pra que serve, como desliga microfone aciona input XLR?
Very usedfull,thankyou sir you tutorial.
Hi there! I just wanted to drop by and say how much I love all of your videos-they're not only enjoyable but incredibly insightful as well! 😊 Quick question: could you share what shock mount you're using for the choir mics? Also, I'm curious if there was anything special done to rig them up. Thanks for all the amazing content!
1:19 I am known to run around with an iPad or computer in some fairly wet environments but even I am getting nervous, thank goodness you found a good spot for it now. 3:57 oh shucks I saw that one coming sort of. But hey it did you a favor those other joints weren't very good either now it forces you to redo them.
Thanks, I've got to use this model next week for a show and now I feel like I've seen one before.
So helpful... I just got a venue... On my mixer my master fader shows a signal of zero... when it goes to the Dbx, I have to add a lot of gain from my output of my mixer... is there some kind of input pad or calibrator on the Dbx input ? My mixer is a motu b16 stagebox
Absolutely LOVE this video, you should be a teacher if you aren't already. I do get dizzy easily so having the camera not fixed made it so I could only watch this video 5 mins at a time before I got a little woozy. Otherwsise THANK YOU!
@audio buff great videos. What is the best way to get a hold of you if I was looking to get some Audio work done?
Amazing video please keep up those informative videos and thank you 🙏🏼
What a helpful FRIENDLY presentation. You’re making progress!
Even an engineer couldn’t have done that any better!
Old timer here! I leave all the heavy lifting to others!
Pls after using the stereo setup i can still hear my drum kick in the sub
I tried setting the crossover and even cutting more lows but can still hear a little of the kick in the mid speaker
Is it that my crossover and eq settings is not done well
NICE WORK! You're the man, Jude.
Duh Walt? I prefer Ridgid.
Very impressive. Well executed!
You should look into Labor Saving Devices equipment if your having to retro a lot of cabling like this. They offer a good selection of attachments that help simplify overcoming obstacles. Such as Grabbit or creep-zit for lifting bit up over the framing using a wet noodle or magnet.
That was impressive.
Hi great video. Am i right in thinking this mixer is unpowered and would need to be connected to powered speakers? Thanks again
This a dumbass does. You NEVER use an impact driver to assemble a particle board rack.
Do you know which size connector you used? I can’t find any that are small enough to be snug on the post.
.187 quick disconnect is what you you are asking I believe. And the .205 are snug to the speaker ...as opposed to the more standard .250 or 1/4" that fall off unless you crimp the crap out of them .. Just saw this, hope it helps someone
Hello and congratulations for your videos! I have an ALLEN & HEATH ZED60 10 FX mixer and I would like to connect an ear monitor system, which mixer output should I use? Thank you!
Best explanation of the ZED for a neophyte such as myself!
Thanks for watching and glad it was a help. More videos on the way!
Even as a German it was nice and easy to understand. Thx a lot
I have one of those trim-size pry bars at home and now I'm going to add it to my tool kit!
Great to hear. You will enjoy it. Thank you for watching!!
Or you could have just made an adapter and not cut the leads
Thanks for watching. Good thought - Yes, I could have made an adapter, but the primary function for that tool is audio. I had a adapter for 20 years, but I wanted something that would work and be simple, for my application.
@@audiobuff primary? You mean only now
Geez. Brilliant! That would have been amazing to hear in person.
I which you could have been here. I’ll save you a seat for next year’s program. Thank you for watching!
Incredible audio work, and great video editing too!
Yes, a lot of work, by a lot of people. Thanks for your involvement too!!
Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as _RJ45._ The term is a colloquialism adapted from the RJ45S standard, which actually a slightly different (keyed) connector. The better term would be 8P8C modular plug/jack, but I guess these days "RJ45" is part of the vernacular.
I’ve never heard the term 8P8C. I will update my information. And thank you for watching!
@@audiobuff 8P8C is nomenclature for describing modular plugs and jacks. It simply means _eight position, eight contact._ Just like telephone modular plugs and jacks of old were 6P6C or 6P4C.
The endless-loop background music is mildly crazy-making and should have been like 12 dB lower or simply eliminated. Otherwise I thought the video was informative and well-presented. Speaking as a pro-audio nerd of thirty years. ;)
Duly noted, and thank you for watching the video!
Watching this was an education for me, thanks Jude!
Once I finished drilling the hole, I could relax and enjoy the install. I’m glad you didn’t receive an education on how to fix a chunk of wall that broke off :)
Wow! Brilliant job Jude and everyone involved in the production and, of course, the performers!
To be there in person and to feel the sound was overwhelming. I’m so thankful to be involved with sound at our church. Thanks for watching!
Incredible. Well done!
Hey man, thanks for watching. 55 mics is a new personal best for me.
No me
Thank you for watching, more to come…
Thanks for your work on these videos. It’s amazing to see how all of the audio and video equipment is implemented, and to see the entire team who works so hard to integrate everything in real time to make an amazing live feed. But it is equally amazing to see the overall endeavor for excellence, which should be any church worker’s goal, no matter what we are trying to accomplish, and no matter what resources are at our disposal.
That is so true. I’m so blessed to work with Gods servants who strive for there best. We fall short many times, but we get back up and try again, and again. Thank you for watching.
Amazing, Jude! Thank you for sharing this even though it made me cry. I had already watched the cantata and my heart was blessed by how the Lord is exalted through the words and music. But, for some reason, this video you posted of the behind the scenes brought tears to my eyes. It shows God using the talents He's given fallen men to bring praise to his Holy name. God is so beyond our comprehension, yet so full of mercy and grace for us.....his creation. Don't know why He cares for us, but I'm so thankful that He does. And, I'm also thankful He gifted you with the talent of understanding audio and that you use that gift to exalt his name! ❤
Your comment has a lot to take in. God is so good to us, even though we don’t deserve it. And by the way, thanks for letting me marry your favorite daughter!
So much to take in. Love the behind the scene work. Watching the asl team really pulled at my heart strings.
The signers did a great job. I had to include them in the behind the scenes video. Thanks for watching!!
Looks good. We never shot a behind-the-scenes video. I shot a timelapse of a load in and out of a Christmas tour once and after we (the crew) view we go "Burn it" makes the three hours of hard work look to easy...
Hey Matt, thanks for watching!! This is a lot of work and I’m honored to have a part in it. One day I’ll get to your NASCAR level :)
Great work Jude!
Thanks for watching. Did you ever find the block and tackle pulley?
@@audiobuff Nope. I gave up looking for it, so if you come across it let me know. Hope you had a good Christmas and new year!

I’m lovin the Jazz! Our church next!
Yes! Sounds like a party.
Awesome!
Thanks for watching. Stay safe my friend!
My wife keeps the DeWalt saw in her drawer just for that.
What a women!!!
Yeah, uh, I have one of those on me every day....
If DeWalt made kitchen tools, I’d buy everyone I could for my wife. Thanks for watching.
Only an engineer would put that much thought into that…
With a comment like that, I hope the Lord blesses you with many green beens this holiday season!!! Thanks for watching.
Were there any beans harmed during the recording of this short?
All of them!
Jude, i personally prefer an angle grinder.
A great option - like a wild cat grinder! Thanks for watching!!
Are cans of green beans even worth opening?
NOPE!
Sounds like an engineers perspective.
Golly. 😂
Thanks for watching!
First option gives you extra iron, second way cooks it for you! This man's a genius!
The beans were steaming after I torched them open. Thanks for watching!
