Grand Elks Longest Train?

I'm sure and know that this is not the GDLKs longest train. It has, though, been a while since they had a long train like this. It's good to see business is still going. Hope you enjoy the video. Please like, comment, and subscribe

Grand Elk Railroad With Some Rail Squeak
THAT needs dredging badly if the ships are running aground.
Good video good travels keep it up cheers 😅
I’ve had the honor of seeing her 3 times there. Last month she was on one side and the James Oberstar was on the other side. What beautiful sight to see. Got some great photos. I live over only an hour away so I see who’s there and drive up there to see them. She’s A beautiful veteran ship. It’s great to see her being well taken care of ❤
@@TOTALCAMARO I'd love to live up there and do what you get to do haha
@@thatguyfrommichigan I know people think I’m crazy to get in my car all of sudden and head to Marquette to get pictures of a ship coming in. lol I can’t help it I’m a boat nerd and addicted to them lol Especially the Anderson because I had a cousin who worked on there the night the Edmund Fitzgerald went down.
@TOTALCAMARO I'm the same way, better than being addicted to drugs I always say
@@thatguyfrommichigan so true
SHE DID NOT RUN AGROUND ...... SHE REPOSSISIONED HERSELF ,,, SWUNG THE BOW TOWARD STARBOARD AND THE RUDDER SWUNG THE STERN TO PORT
Beautiful home in the background.
Van Andel family home
Very nice. I hope all is well your way. I really liked the playground scene near the end. These make really fine videos. Huge machines and then families relaxing and having fun. Go TGFM!
I try to include the surroundings to add perspective to the video
Well that was a beast! Thanks TGFM. Best regards from Newfoundland.
You're very welcome, glad you liked the video!
Merry Christmas TGFM. Best from Newfoundland.
Thank you, have a safe holiday
you to
Small but mighty. Love those tugs. Thanks again
They are really cool
Beautiful 😊
I agree
That's definitely a rare trip, I was up there back in 2012 on an Apprenticeship on her and we went in to Holland MI once the whole season.
Yea, she doesn't go to Holland all that much. Usually just Great Republic or Manitowoc
It's an old ship.
That she is
Lumbering giant!
Great video TGFM. Large vessels in small water is always a treat.
It definitely is haha
Great job!!!
Thank you
This wasn’t American Century’s first time to Muskegon! It came to Muskegon a lot back in 2015
Thank you for the info, I did not know that!
They may have actually made a number of trips in there with coal for the old plant, back when she was the Columbia Star
Very nice post. Nice to see such a huge vessel so close to very small vessels, but everything cool. Thanks TGFM.
Gives a different perspective than The Soo
What a beautiful grand lady.
Yes she is
@@thatguyfrommichigan I just applied to work abroad her so that's why I am here. I'm praying to get the job.
@Dan Sweet I hope you get the job, please keep me informed
'Twas a dark and gloomy day. The people were bundled and the flags were flying fast. But the children were laughing. That is one great video TGFM. I live way out in the east north atlantic and freeze my ass off getting firewood in from my driveway. But yeah, it did not look really warm out there. Thank you for the video.
It was in the 60s but the wind off the cold lake made it feel cold.
@@thatguyfrommichigan Hi TGFM, as you know, never ever take the great lakes for granted. They will kill sailors. Right now I can only dream of 60s F. I think it's about 37 F right now here. And windy and wet. And I'm under a roof and bed!
@@roderickcampbell2105 these lakes will always surprise you!
Hi TGFM. One of the best I've seen. Thanks.
You are very welcome
@@thatguyfrommichigan Somehow I think we may have got off on the wrong page ages ago (could be wrong), but it's been smooth sailing since! My best to you from way out east. I really your posts.
@Roderick Campbell I don't remember any of that but I'm glad you enjoy what I post! Your comments are always nice and I enjoy reading them, I wish you the best from here in Michigan
@@thatguyfrommichigan Hi TGFM. Well that could be a "figment of my imagination". I have close friends living here from Michigan .I hope your weather is better than mine. One could die out there. Look forward to more posts.
@@roderickcampbell2105 We just finally got rain, not much but something. Everything is dry and air quality is bad
Holland, Mi. Or Holland.Mass. or Accross the Ocean Holland, Netherlands.
Holland Michigan
Very nice capture. Thanks TGFM. She was a little light in the bow?
She was empty, I don't remember where she was going
Yea I know, it's Evans Spirit not a Federal 😂
Great video going into Canada 🇨🇦. Keep up the good work.
Thank you
Great looking ship!
Good day for train spotting.
Yes it was
Very nice video and looked like a really nice day. I hope you had a good ride.
I did, got some sun and enjoyed the nice weather while I could
@@thatguyfrommichigan Lucky dog! I am waiting to start my fireplace so I guess I don't have it bad I either. Cheers.
Came pretty close to the canal wall towards the end of this video.
Was her first time in Holland, they all do sometimes too
@@thatguyfrommichigan thanks for the video. I'll look for future ones from you. Always like to see the ships come into western Michigan ports.
@Chuck G hasn't been anything yet really
Nice night sky behind her. Beautiful video of her. ❤
I enjoy taking night videos, glad you liked it
@@thatguyfrommichigan I can understand that I would too.
Looks she has a hole scraped in her side.
How deep is the canal? Probably should be dredged
Looks like the carl d. Bradley!
About the same design
Really nice capture. Funny how a great "capture" is a slice of freedom. Many thanks TGFM.
Got to love it and thank you
Always enjoy your videos.
Thank you
I look forward to seeing more videos, but in the meantime it's really nice seeing some leaves and greenery!
Thank you, I'm trying to get videos done up to upload
Great video thanx
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome man there's going to be at least two dozen people waiting for this.
Two dozen ain't a bad number for small channel like mine
@@thatguyfrommichigan That's what I mean, keep up the good work.
I'll be anxiously waiting, the blowing of their horn sends chills through me!
Outstanding! I'm looking forward to the other stuff videos you mentioned. Anyway keep up the great work!
Thank you
@@thatguyfrommichigan Hi TGFM. That certainly looked like one heavily used vessel. Thanks.
@@roderickcampbell2105 she definitely is
I grew up living on Lake Michigan about 1/2 mile from the Holland harbor. We used to scan the lake for approaching freighters, then my dad would pile us in the car and rush to Ottawa Beach, and we would watch them almost silently glide into Lake Macatawa. My dad worked at Padnos for years an these big boats were headed there, Consumers Power, or what then was called Brewers City Coal Dock. Of course that was 50 years ago... I subscribed 🙂
Its awesome watching these boats come in. Thank you for the sub!
This ship frequently visits Grand Haven. Last month, she visited twice in the same week.
She was just in GH today too. She must like it in GH
Interesting perspective seeing the ship at night.
Yes it is, have never seen a ship at night in Holland
Haunting
It felt like it too, the wind and waves hitting behind me had me spooked ar times
That canal needs to be dredged out
Don't go to far bro Hillsdale/Jonesville is my territory
Alright, I'll emember that
@@thatguyfrommichigan I'm just kidding come enjoy Indiana Northeastern where ever I don't care FYI Indiana Northeastern runs alot from Hillsdale to Coldwater
@@NickThatRailfan I figured so. It was cool to see this line in action as I've never seen it before.
@@thatguyfrommichigan well congrats on seeing it this railroad runs alot and I see it alot since it's my local railroad
the sides of those ships take a beating, must be kinda cool to see these things up close in your area.
Yup, they are beat up. It's cool seeing them but most are getting scrapped and not seeing them anymore
Nice video. A somber time of day. The waves were breaking pretty far out in that location. Looked cold, but we know winters a comin'. Thanks for the post.
Yup, the cold sin called winter is on her way
