The 6,100 acres of the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve (SINERR) is Georgia’s place in a national network of coastal sites where studying and protecting our Nation’s estuaries is the highest priority. It's research, education, training, and stewardship programs promote coastal sustainability and resilience. SINERR has been striving to be a leader in national and regional estuarine science, based on guiding public understanding of Georgia’s dynamic coastal communities and ecosystems since 1976.
