Back in 1987 I made this little narrative film to promote the album, “Andy Caltecks Hits the Road”. The film was screened as a special on the ABC’s “Rock Arena” which, at the time, was quite a coup for an independent record. Andy and I wrote the script which is a tongue-in-cheek poke at the music biz - very silly and over the top. It stars Andy Callander, Daniel Lillford, Genevieve Costigan, Rob Howard, Mark Hobbs, Fiona Corke, Andrea St John and many others - with notable guest appearances by the late, great Lobby Loyde, Daniel Pollack and Dolores San Miguel (glimpsed dancing in the party scene).
The film was self funded and made with borrowed gear and huge amounts of help from friends like Tim Stobart, Kathy Chambers, Jane Karslake, Dean Sullivan, Tony Paterson, Robert Chuter and others. We even managed to wrangle a helicopter for free!
The quality isn’t great because its taken from a dodgy old VHS copy, but I’ve done my best to improve the picture and audio quality. And I’ve taken the liberty of trimming it down from the original 40min - less is more I reckon!
