Hi guys, wishing you all a happy 2024, here's my new video on one of my in country used Vietnam Helmets. This video details things to look for in a combat used helmet, and also red flags to look for when buying one.
This video will be looking at the Mitchell cover and helmet itself, with an inside look at the liner and what you should look for.
Bay Militaria can be a nightmare, and if you don't know the red flags when buying, it could become a very expensive mistake. Now most people will tell you that there M1 Helmets has been and seen combat, I can guarantee you that 80% of the people saying that are incorrect.
Vietnam combat helmets are extremely hard to get hold of, especially ones with graffiti, when you left your branch of service, you had to hand in all your gear, and the only way to keep your helmet would've been to smuggle it out, or to be sent home with it from the medical centre.
Unlike World War II, where vets were allowed to keep their helmets, in Vietnam, everything was given back in making Vietnam combat helmets, original ones, extremely rare and desirable. This is one of those such helmets, and one that I would call the holy grail to collectors, not only does it sport graffiti, it's also named and identified to the marine that wore it
This helmet also features a bullet strike to the back which made this marine wounded in action answer that he was sent home, hence the helmet bring brought home.
