Where You End by Abbott Kahler | Book Review
Interesting concept.
Can’t wait to dig into this one!
Sounds great. I'll have to track this one down.
It’s really good! Super disturbing 😳
More of a retelling of the plot than a review
That’s how I do my reviews, recap the plot and then say what I liked and did not like towards the end. That’s just me though. If you are looking for a review with no plot mentioned, look for reviews with no spoilers in the title or on the thumbnail.
I read Middlesex back in the day. It was a good read back then about an intersex person. But it was written about 20 years ago...and I'm not sure if some of the language and concepts are still applicable to our current understanding of intersex people and today some the terms used in the book is considered offensive.
Gotcha, yeah older books tend to sometimes use terms that are offensive. Not sure when I’ll get to reading this one but couldn’t pass it up for $1.
Do you have any favorite books about cryptids?
Haha yes I love it when a book doesn't need a warmup! I love Meg and definitely want to read about an ice crocodile maybe?
Me too, I’m a big fan of when the story is off and running right at the start. I want to get to the Meg series at some point and from Vostok’s cover it definitely looks like an ice crocodile of some sort.☺️📚🐊
❤❤😊
☺️📚
Stoats are basically tiny ferrets 😂 You're right... there is sooooo much going on in this particular book... but it has some really great scenes 🤗
@@krisreviews thank you Kris!!! ☺️ I had no clue. Definitely a lot happening in this one. I loved this one, so weird, so good.
This series is on the horizon for me. I loved Salem's Lot.
Heck yes! This series is awesome, it’s definitely worth the reading journey/adventure it takes you on. King really is a master storyteller.
Dude, I love the beast of Bray Road That’s up in Wisconsin by the way
I’ve watched a couple documentaries about The Beast of Bray road. The idea of dogmen or werewolf type creatures out there somewhere is super creepy. 👀
This is my favourite book of the series! So great! I recently reread Salem's Lot and liked it much more than the first time. For some reason it didn't click with me the first time round.
This book is awesome, really enjoyed my time in it. It’s definitely a contender for possible fav, but I’ll be able to figure out which one it is when I finish the series. I remember liking Salem’s Lot when I read it back in the day, but I barely remember it anymore. I think it will be interesting to read it when I finish this series.☺️📚
There’s always gotta be a POS husband. Honestly those situations scare me more than a lot of horror does.
Same here, humans are the real monsters. 😬
Get em up and get em out of Camelot! Get em outta here!
Get em outta here!😂
Sounds like a great setting and story. If I had a 5 mil apartment I’d be set haha. My fam could stay jealous 😂
I like NYC for a setting, a lot of gritty atmosphere comes along with it. I can only imagine what a 5 mil apartment would be like. 🤔
I love hearing the origins of famous musicians. You never know what people go through. Very well said about learning of other cultures.
Me too, it can be a very eye-opening experience.
What is your favorite book in The Dark Tower Series?
Great responses Syn! I need some kind of ending for my book always. This is very different to the Would You Rather tag that I did, but still fun answers. 😀
Thanks Cliff! ☺️📚
This feels like Grimm kids shows. I cannot handle creepy or possessed kids in movies. It freaks me out.
Same, I am also not a fan of creepy kids. 😬
The horror one sounds amazing! Also I can’t believe you’re on book 5 of dark tower.
It’s really good!
Halfway through the year? What?? Haha great answers as always my friend 🙂
This year is flying! Thanks Fiyah!☺️
I MUST read this! 🖤
It’s really good!☺️📚
As a fan of Arthurian Legend and a fan of Grossman I am really looking forward to this one 🤗
@@krisreviews this one is quite the adventure, I did like The Magician’s series quite a bit. He definitely knows how to weave a good story.☺️📚
I’m glad you read Garden Spells! I’m doing a reread this Summer to refresh my memory for the sequel.🍎🌿
I loved it, anything that has to do with gardens and magic, count me in!☺️🌸🌹📚🪄
This sounds fun! The cover is top-notch! 👌🏻💜💚🖤
And thank you for Baby Shark. 🦈💀🤣
Yesss! The cover is excellent!🖤
🦈
Loved this one. The writing was very empathetic and emotionally intelligent.
Me too, I agree!☺️📚
Loved Garden Spells! The sequel First Frost was good too. I would suggest Magic, Lies and Deadly Pies by Misha Popp.
I love how that title rhymes 😂 I’ll definitely have to check that one out!☺️📚
❤😊
☺️📚
I read this book back in 2014 and absolutely loved it. This was my first taste of magical realism. I had never heard of that genre at the time. Instantly Sarah Addison Allen became my favorite author. Glad you reviewed it.
It’s such a great read, I love books that have magical elements to them. She pulled me right in with her writing, looking forward to reading more of her books.☺️📚
I enjoy cozy mysteries so I know what you mean great review
Thank you!☺️📚
Do you have a favorite cozy book or books?
Do you have a favorite Arthurian book?
Great video. I’ve just finished this collection except for Danny’s Bad Dream (left til last as longest) but in answer to Who is the Answer Man, I believe he’s the man in black 😎👍🏻
Thank you ☺️📚Holy crap! He’s totally the Man In Black! I didn’t even think about that.
I like my horror to be scary. I found Ghost Eaters to be annoying. I found a total of three scary pages in Ghost Eaters. Clay had a great idea but he failed to execute his original premise. Over the last decade, the definition of "horror novel" has expanded to include anything horrible happening. Just because characters die, suffer, or get addicted does not make a story a horror tale.
@@JohnnyRecently I liked it, but I’m into all the different evolutions of horror. That’s just me though, I know we all have such different tastes in books. What are some of your favs that are super scary? I’m always looking for good horror recs.
Thank you for this review. I just finished this book, did love the ending. However, I almost felt like I missed something and I should go back and reread. I was like, what the heck did I just read? 😅
It did feel somewhat dreamlike at points, very strange and foggy at the edges sometimes. A reread might make it make more sense, I always feel like when I reread stuff I see a lot of things that I missed the first time. ☺️📚
Do you have a favorite music memoir?
Great tag, Syn! I feel awkward about the fictional crush question, too. lol!!
@@DarkVioletDreams Right?! Maybe I need a better imagination. 😂
Do you have a favorite book of short stories?
Night Shift is my favorite collection so far.
@@claudesvlogs I haven’t read that one, it’s one I’d like to read at some point. Have you read King’s new short story collection You Like It Darker? It’s really good.☺️📚
@@SynsBookNook I just ordered it! :)
@@claudesvlogs Heck yes! Hope you enjoy!🙂📚
Teatro Grottesco by Thomas Ligotti is probably my favorite.
I’ve read a few Sarah Addison Allen books and they’re such a delight. I need to get to First Frost to continue that story!
They’re so dang cozy! First Frost is absolutely lovely.☺️📚
Looking forward to your reviews of Horror Movie and My Darling Dreadful Thing. Both are in my TBR. Here's a cozy fantasy rec: Becoming Crone by Lydia M.Hawk. Im currently reading it and its unique because the main character is a 60 year old woman who is discovering her magic for the first time. Its refreshing because tje average age of a fantasy hero is what... 17? Anyway its a fun book.
Becoming Crone sounds great, gonna add that to my tbr. We definitely need more books with older protagonists, they are few and far between. Gonna tackle Horror Movie next but first I gotta make my way through King’s Wolves of the Calla, I’m about halfway through it.☺️📚
Lovely video! Horror Movie sounds interesting, I still need to read this author. Hope you enjoy the rest of your Dark Tower experience!
Thanks Cliff! I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read of Paul Tremblay so far, he’s up there in my list of horror author favs.☺️📚
What are some of your most anticipated reads coming out in the second half of this year?
The book got new artwork it looks amazing
I just looked it up, the green cover with the giant octopus? That one is pretty sweet!🐙
I only ever played Fallout 3, and I enjoyed the TV show more than I expected to; I'm definitely looking forward to the next season.
They knocked it out of the park with the show. It was so well done! I’m also super stoked for season 2!☺️
Thanks for the review. I loved it too, and stumbled on it by accident. You are also LITERALLY the only person I've seen who doesn't mention that the author, Rupert Holmes, is also a singer-songwriter who had the #1 song in America years ago (ESCAPE: The Pina Colada Song, which everybody should know, and shame on you if you don't). Looking forward to the sequel!
I honestly didn’t know until after I made this video that he wrote/sang that song. I think I found it out from someone in the comments here on this video. 😂 Glad you enjoyed it, what a fantastic book!☺️📚
