Why are they called dhole? That's an African painted dog

The first one is an African painted dog, not a dhole. It's kind of obvious from the splotchy coat (hence its name) and the satellite-dish looking ears. I don't get how the devs could've made that mistake in the first place; other than kind of looking like dogs, the two are _nothing_ alike.
