    I have a better way go grab a used commercial pressure washer with burner there’s your heating but they don’t take gas they take diesel to run you can set the temperature and it only cost to fill it up like 30 bucks to fill but it’s last for days so believe 2 days on a full tank but that only if your going to be swimming those so like in the morning you go out turn it on and there by the time it hits 8 pm your going to have a hot swimming pool if you don’t tire the temperature up that much they got hot quick

    This is the exact idea i had as i already have a barrel for burning. I plan to use this idea only while filling the pool up but I was going to warm the pipe first before flowing the water through so Im glad I came across your video as I know not to do this now. Thanks.

    About increasing the SS tube diameter, to 3/4? More flow, iven it lowered the tater supply temp, but it turn over more water also. Just curious.

    @TheHammer0019 2 місяці тому

    Wanted you to know that I just put this together and it works great! The only flaw I had in it was that the bottom of the barrel was still burning so I kept it running for the night and the line that went into the pool with the hot water fell off when I was cleaning up and did not notice it. So it emptied my pool i/4 of the way. Took 3 1/2 hours to fill the water back in. The thing works pretty good!

      Do you also see a possibility to place a large Chimney so the smoke go up high? Also about using a large tubing, 3/4". I have a oval 15k gallon AG pool, lot water to heat.

    This is along the lines of the Pool Tree system, except they use bungee instead of rope. Honestly, covering your pool in the winter in the north is a crapshoot. The best setup is to have a pool not surrounded by any trees. No pollen, leaves, sticks to deal with.

    We tried something similar, you still get water pockets In between the ropes no matter how tight it is the weight of the water over powers the ropes .

    • @rajatbansal7824

      Exactly as I am experiencing. No matter what, water keeps collecting between the ropes. Did any solution work better for you?

    • @robcasad
      @robcasad 2 місяці тому

      @rajatbansal7824 need to weigh the cover down so it's very tight. We fill empty chlorine gallons with 1/4 part antifreeze and the rest water. Then place them at each wall between where the ropes connect. We find this has worked the best. I also find I never have to refill the bottles between seasons.

    • @micheleromaine7782

    It seems that most DIY heat transfer inventors make the same erroneous assumption - that low exit temperatures mean the water is moving too fast to pick up heat. That is incorrect. The formula for heat transfer rate is: U * A * (T hot - T cold) - where U is the system heat transfer coefficient, A is the Area of heat exchange, and the temperatures are the hot side and cold side. As a general rule the HIGHER flow rate maintains the LARGEST temperature difference between the hot side and cold side, and the MORE heat you transfer in total. As someone else commented you also want high flow rates to maintain turbulent flow. The fact that the total heat transferred (flow X temperature rise) is quite similar in each case here just means that cold side flow is not the controlling factor in this system. I would guess the limiting factor is the stainless tubing which has rather poor heat conductivity, only about 6% of copper. Other wise neat video series. Seeing the heat output of one of these barrel heaters (about 1.5 kw) is most helpful for anyone considering building one.

  • @Mark-os1gq

    Would be easier to wrap it around the outside of the barrel. Your going to get the same amount of heat anyhow

    I've been using your method for 2 years. It works. I actually added a heated fountain to flow into my pool rather than placing the hose directly on the bottom of the pool. It's safer and very effective. The water flows very warm water not steaming hot water. I did not attached this via my main water filter system; I decided to use an extra A-frame ladder as part of a decorative water feature. There was no need for me to drill holes into my pool or disurpt my orginal filter system. The burn barrel has 2 discreet lines from the fountain ladder to the burn barrel with an awesome strong submersible pool pump hidden at the bottom of the pool behind the ladder. Thanks again for your idea.

    To Jack on the Farm: what would be the thermal gain become by using 1/2” or 1/4” pipes in the barrel rather than the 1 inch pipe? Wouldn’t you have to increase the number of pipes in the barrel if you decrease the diameter of the pipes in the barrel? Would the length of decreased pipes in the barrel also become decreased?

    So there’s a huge variable you’re missing here though and I’m not trying to be a dick but ambient temperature it will play a huge role in heat transfer of the water and I understand that the water and ambient temperature are going to reach equilibrium but ambient temperature isn’t constant so it’s going to either add or subtract temperature from the water

    • @PoisonShot20
      @PoisonShot20 Рік тому

      About insulated the line from barrel to the pool, it will help a lot on loses due to ambient temperature. Also close the gap between coils inside of the barrel, and using smaller diameter tubing, as suggested by another smartie pants!😂 Still a you did a great job. I'm not picking or bashing your project, just adding ideas that created discussion and at the end we all benefit from. 🕊️❤️
