Polyolefin Strike Indicator revised
Переглядів 8687 місяців тому
This is a reversion of my original Polyolefin strike indicator without using my parachute tool. Easier to tie. This is one of the best strike indicator because it does not strike the surface of the water with pop or slash.

Have you ever has a fish hit your strike indicator and wish you had a hook attached to it. Well check this out.
My Foam Crawdad
Переглядів 197Рік тому
I also have another video tying a simple crawdad using Ultrasuede but my Cricut machine just doesn't cut out that material very well. So I now cut the body out of foam, and eliminated the floating problem by adding small lead eye. Check it out.

Love it, I have some material to make those , now I know how. Thanks for sharing
what are the dimensions for the foam?
Thanks Dennis appreciate you sharing. Always looking to save a little money these days. How do you apply with a bodkin or toothpick. Does it go on as liquid or gel. Looks like liquid. If it gels up just add more Xylene. You mentioned flex cement. Does it harden or remain flexable. Thanks again
Good video Dave.
Fish love Hellgrammites as much as Hellgrammites hate fish. Almost a quarter of the Bass I have caught on live Hellgrammites have come in with the Hellgrammite holding on to the side of the fish, the hook never set... Best live bait on the Shenandoah. Can't wait to try this out.
Great looking hellgermite are the bodies available for sale
lOVE IT, THAT HAS TO BE A KILLER FOR SURE
Awesome job Dennis! Looks fishy to me! 👏👏❤️
Super bug. Thanks
Do you cure the powder painted heads in the oven before painting the eyes?
Nice one thank you
Like it , gonna try tying it, appreciate the video and keep them coming 😊
Thank you for sharing.
So good to see you tying again!

Awesome, is the stencil available for download?
Where did you get the orange 2852E, I purchased some 2852 as I could not find the 2852E but it seems a little grainy do you have to use 2 coats to get the grainy effect out or do you think it has to have the E on the number ?
Awesome, easy and deadly
Looks neat, gonna do up some of mine for sure, what are the tubes laying behind with lids attached?
Did you get my email?
Your design is the best I have seen. Just got my pins and paint in to paint up some eyes.
Did you wind up with a svg file or a png., I have a cricut but not a Photoshop. Trying to figure out how to set it up to make the bodies.
png file, if you send me an email, I will send you the png file, dmstead@aol.com
@@dennisstead3574 done I sent you one, thank you
I see the size of the pins in the instructions, sorry about that.
What size are the pins to make the eyes with?
Mop worm for the win! 👏👏👏
Nothing like primary research :) I'm getting my foam out as I type.
Awesome Dennis! 👏👏👏
I've watched countless spin cast videos, and yet I bookmarked this one, because it is clear that Pappy was a master at his craft! There were several special touches that he alone did, and I can tell he had an inventive mind and a practical way of approaching his work. (I especially liked his hook shank holding feature, the wire pins through the hook eyes for ease of placement, and his variety of aluminum runner patterns - details that reflect real thought and craftsmanship.) I thank you, Dennis, for preserving Ray's expertise on video - his legacy in this spin cast field will live on, and we who wish to learn will benefit. (PS - I live in Federal Way, if you ever want to go out for coffee, let me know.)
Came across this today and recognized the pattern from a fishing trip to Lake Taneycomo years ago.... a guy fishing in the same area was having a great day and showed the pattern to me. Thank You for sharing the pattern and I will be tying a few for myself and heading back to Branson this spring. Greatly Appreciated !!! Take Care
If the idea is to fish the indicator with a hook on it why not instead just use a big dry fly like a chubby or something as your indicator? I like the technique for making the indicator, just not sure I understand why putting it on a hook is necessary.
Great video I have never seen that before what is the name off that yarn and we’re can I buy it thanks
Love learning new tricks.... I'm new to fly fishing
I've been using stick on eyes and lot of time they come off thanks for sharing your method
That s a great video.i have never seen this before.were can I buy that material from thanks
THIS IS NOT A NEW WAY.. I was doing this 30 yrs ago. And it predated that.
You dont need the gimmicks. I use to tied these 30 yrs ago with just a bobbkin.
👏👏👏
Nice, I just ordered me 2 sets. Thanks for sharing buddy !
good one Dennis!
Very nice and simple
Do you use this as a head cement or is the application more limited to something you want to remain flexible (the the strike indicators)?
Yes use it as head cement
This my head cement, the only one I use
I was lucky enough to see the original video and have been using your flex cement ever since. Love it!
Good job Dennis
Thanks for sharing
Nice video, very informative. Where do you get the styling pens from?
Nail art dot pens - Ebay -Amazon-AliExpress are all places
ebay or amazon
Cecil is the man
Question, why the hook with the shank and eye bent towards the point? Seems like it would close the gap to the hook point.
Do you think Ray would teach somebody to build a spin cast mold if they came to Mt. Vernon? I just got a spin cast machine and would like to make my own molds.
Pappy passed away two years ago, that is why I though making the video of Pappy building a mold would help others, like yourself in the future.
@@dennisstead3574 So sorry to hear that. Thanks for the response. God bless you sir.
I certainly have learned a lot from it. I will watch it again and glean as much as I can.
Looks nice! Thanks for sharing. I'd love to see a video showing how you attach these to your leader.
