Why do we get so annoyed at GW?
There's been a lot of rage at GW recently, what with the problems with cursed city and the Lumineth split release, but do we hold GW to a higher standard than other businesses, and if so why?
Also I paint some scenery.

    Wonderful work on this! I love how it still allows for the corpse sheets to standout, and not fully get lost into the ethereal part, still showing they were once just bodies wrapped up, before getting brought into eternal servitude! Wonderfully done, not to mention simple! Thank you for your tutorial 😁

    As Fabs already mentioned, the voice volume could be a bit higher and an overview on paints used would be nice. But I'd also like to mention the camera and lighting. At the start the camera angle is on the right side. It makes the models look very white, as if there's a lighting issue. This is made a lot better with the camera angle changing to the left side later on. Other than that, an awesome video. Very easy scheme and very quickly painted. I like it! The models look great and it's super easy. Good job!

    Prices and limited editions that last maybe a hour Some really bad codexs that need chapter approved when half the armies don’t even have a new codex lol And now yes we get cool models but they to are all mono pose at this point and all come with a rock or some other locked in base thing So yeah the hobby side is becoming salty

    You are 100% correct in that GW is not our friend. But you can easily see why people do see them as a friend. People who have been with the hobby for most of their lives (like me) see it as a friend because it was always something awesome and inspiring that has been with us for so long. It's like how Halo is still beloved by so many people, even if they stopped playing any of the games after Halo reach- it was something special that we grew up with and don't ever want to forget. It was something that, at the end of a long and shitty day, we could go home and have fun enjoying the hobby. However, this goes far beyond that, I feel. To me, this was a slow buildup over the editions of people becoming more and more tired of GW's practices as well as the changing themes with each passing edition. I started way back in the last few years of 4th edition, and remembering the setting and lore and the overall feel of 40K back then is very different then the feel now, and it has led to older fans feeling.....jaded. And why this has to do with current GW is because they're tired of the price hikes, they're tired of the hobby losing its creativity (mono-pose models, GW no longer supporting making your own models from non GW stuff). Just the overall feeling of GW treating their fans like their stupid children. Bit of a side tangent, but I'm also noticing (at least here in the US) people becoming more jaded with large companies as a whole, and with GW charging so much, I can see people also calling them out for what they have and are doing. Sorry, this was supposed to be neater but I have to leave for work in a few minutes so I kinda just slapped my thoughts together in a jumbled mess

      I completely understand why, yes. I've been collecting in some way or other since I was 8. I think being aware of the difference can be enough to help moderate our expectations.

    As far as I know McDonald's didn't advertise sub-par products as Premium stuff. GW deliberately cheated its clients with Finecast, selling products of appalling quality and advertising is as magnificent products well worth the higher price. We don't need GW to be our friends, we just don't want be to be heinously lied to or be targeted by predatory marketing strategies.

    • @GoldenhallGaming
      @GoldenhallGaming 3 роки тому

      Finecast was absolutely dire, I agree. I think it was the thing that taught me not to trust GW. I went away for a bit and played Malifaux. I do think that other companies do that sort of thing, but we don't trust them. To continue to McDonald's comparison, the photos of their burgers look nothing like what you get in the bag. We've just been trained not to expect what's on the picture anymore.

      @@GoldenhallGaming I don't eat at McDonalds so I don't know but I would like to praise GW for its new "comebacks" policy. In recent years GW has brought back Titanicus, Blood Bowl, Necromunda & a lot of Warhammer Fantasy armies into AoS (Sigvald, Night "Gloomspite" Goblins, Giants, Vampires). This shows some of them really care for the hobby & not all of their staff are mindless corporate drones.

    The only thing I don't care for in the figures themselves is that the Perry WotR "bows and bills" and the Perry "European 15th century mercenaries" armed with pikes, crossbows and handguns use the same bodies/poses in each box, meaning you're painting the same "brigantine" guy, or "padded jack" guy, over and over.
